One of my favorites of Eddie’s. I made one about 15 years ago, because I wanted to build a striped guitar, but everyone was doing the Frankie and 5150. I didn’t have any good pictures of the back of the guitar at the time, so mine is a bit off on the back, but the front of the body and headstock are dead on. I have thought of redoing it since I have good pictures of the back now, but I actually like it as it is…not exact on the back, but still a bad mutha. Yours is beautiful!
Love it! Personally I don't like the relic look as much as many do. To me its like restoring a car, then adding dents and rust afterwards. To each his own, great job!
I agree on a car it's really dumb. But on a guitar , especially a replica of someone else's famous guitar, I like it. And I'm inspired now by this video to make my own. I'm gonna make the 5150 guitar from live without a net.
Having stripped one of my Strats down to the bare, I know how long it took you. The layers of lacquer alone are no easy task. I will have to find the vid showing off it's tone and what you installed for a pickup. Nice work
I had the 2006 music yo 84 Beretta with the red body in the giant hockey stick head stock. The body was alder but when I took the Floyd out to upgrade the block this and that I noticed there is layers of wood glued on top of each other like they used to do the old plywood Kramer strikers. I had read on forums for years where a couple of guys said that they noticed that they're 84 were several pieces glued on top of each other. But I still want to get the 85 reissue from 06 it had all the upgrade parts on it already. Really hard to tell what's underneath these paint jobs anymore
My friend you own just a Kramer Berretta the special is what I own and it’s the budget model without the Floyd and locking nut which some people like me prefer. I’ve got a Jackson Floyd and it’s wicked and I’ve heard insane things about these Kramers so hope you’ve enjoyed it!
I think you could have taped it off to where you could spray white stripes. It was already red. My Krammer is going to white. I can tape it off and spay red. I think I should get real automotive red and use some hardener?
I did a project with my Kramer Baretta Special. Problem is the Baretta Special is mahogany and Eddie's guitar was swamp ash. Also, the necks are cheesy on the Baretta special and have really bad fretwork. Good luck!
Interesting that the springs in the tremolo block go from the claw to the centre and not to the corresponding opposite holes. I’ve never tried that. Does it make a difference. 6:19.
Many folk rave about the 5150, but for me the Hot for Teacher / 1984 was my favourite. The red seems darker too than the 5150 orange/ red. great video.
I love this, it's my personal favorite out of all of Ed's guitars. I'd like to build one myself next year, did you use a template for the stripe patterns? Or just eyeball it?
Hi, I've just watched your video and the guitar looks awesome but I would've liked to seen the part where u applied the tape. It went from white to red with the tape already on and seen how u took the time to show u peeling off the tape. I imagine putting the tape on would have been tricky. I've got a cheap black guitar with no scratchplate /pick guard and 2 humbuckers that I turned into a Franky with just some yellow tape. It's no EVH but it looks pretty good so now that guitar gets played more, which is a good thing but tapeing it up was not as easy as I first thought so I watched your video to see how u would've gone about it. As I said yours turned out really well, cheers. 🎸🖤
No he didn’t. Ed never loaded up on springs live with a Floyd Rose trem. It would do nothing for tuning stability. He used 2 springs! The trem and nut are locked. That’s what is holding the strings in tune, not the springs. All more springs would do is make it much harder to use the trem.
@@Cr16604 The Floyd Rose was blocked as does everyone who ended up switching to one as this way any string breaking will not mess with the tuning. By adding more springs on the earlier Floyd Rose models you don't get the dreaded vibrato when you are near the bridge pickup and you are palm muting the strings as this happens if your palm pushes slightly on the fine tuners. This way you can still use the vibrato bar and not have the excess tremolo jangle.
The5150 and Hot for teacher necks were ESP Strat copy necks that were sanded bare and the headstocks were reshaped. Nothing like the later Baretta neck. The Ernie Ball signature guitar necks are what Eds Kramer necks felt like. Still, good job on that barrette special mod.
The Frankenstein/Frankenstrat is different than the 5150 models . The Frankenstein/strat has the cavities where you can see more of the bridge and the non-working neck pickup . Ed made many 5150 guitars at the Kramer factory before one of his tours , either the Diver Down or 1984 tour .
Why would anyone destroy a beautiful KRAMER guitar like that. C,Mon the EVH thing is so overrated and overdone.. just hope it was a cheap Gibson/Kramer reissue and not a original 80 piece...

Love it. I built a Frankenstrat a few years back. Miss you Eddie!

Amazing! Very clean and tight! Beautiful build. 🙌🏻
Man the prep work takes a lot of patience but pays off looks great! Inspiring to play for sure!!
i want my drag car to sound like the drum intro

Extremely Kool 🤘❤️🔥🤩

They’re all great, but nothing beats the Frankenstrat.
It’s beautiful ❤
Had to sub because of this beauty. Thanks for building this.
What kind of tape did you use? Masking tape? Painters tape? How did you paint the black stripes on it?
Long live The King!!!!!
What you should have said is "this is my already modified Kramer Baretta Special. A Special does not have a Floyd Rose or locking nut.
I love this, it's my personal favorite out of all of Ed's guitars. I'd like to build one myself next year, did you use a template for the stripe patterns? Or just eyeball it?
Awesome Replica
Suck an Iconic Guitar! I'm doing the Floyd swap on my Baretta Special myself but mines the Candy Blue version but yours looks so cool
Awesome
Finding this video, honestly made my day. Thank you for making this.
Kinda hard to get noticed when you live in the shade of the giant tree that was EVH, but AVH is a gad @ss drummer.
You should add the extra black stripes that he adds around 85!
awesome job. ive seen many in my area. Your paint rocks.

Speech.
i come here from instagram! nice video!!
Only thing I'm gonna do is clear coat the heck outta it level sand it and buff the heck outta it
Very Nice!
How did you not get run off when spray painting that close?
So much hard work.......mines being held by staples, bolts& zip ties& duct tape.
Add more springs to the back block. Eddy had them loaded up for live uses.

How are you able to use this music?
there's nothing like a Kramer neck.

The BEST guitar Eddie made.

looks awesome, what was the total cost for parts and the guitar itself?
Floyd Rose was the only added part which was about $300 and the guitar was $200
😍😍😍
So... The black lines??
Butt
How does it sound
How long did u wait between coats?
Amazing work ! I have to try this one day
Little question, where did you get the same paint but for wall like at 6:47 ?
They’re on canvases, probably still the exact same spray paint
Could have gone with the Original FR while you were at it.
I would have if it was a little cheaper. But this one is worn and kind of relict
Would you sell that machine?
how did you get the black stripe? i missed that or sometihng?
You tape off both sides of where you want to add the black stripes.
Talk about making it your own...
Did you clear coat it?
Yes. 9 coats
What is that Maple or mahogany body
Mahogany with a super tight grain
Does paint in the cavity prevent feedback ?
Kramer baretta?
最初からbgmがうるさい
Your dad never taught you to spray paint.
Long smooth paths...
😂😂😂
Too bad you didn't show putting the tape ON instead of taking it off.
Boo fkn hoo.
Jeez not even any grain filler...
Jeez. Who cares
Ed never had grain filler in any of his guitars. Plus the grain is really tight on this body so there’s really no need for it.
Why would anyone destroy a beautiful KRAMER guitar like that. C,Mon the EVH thing is so overrated and overdone.. just hope it was a cheap Gibson/Kramer reissue and not a original 80 piece...
You're overrated and overdone.
Lotsa work just to play a van Halen song'
It's his time to use as he wants.
