Gotta be honest I think Eddie did get robbed in the rankings. He holds 13 patents, invented tapping guitar style of play, and is the 6th of all time for albums sold I believe in total. On top of all of that disco was topping to charts kind of pushing rock back out of the main stream in the late 70s, it was Van Halen who them all on notice. When the band came on the scene he completely reinvented rock n roll. Why? Because in the words of DLR “We rock the house, but you can also dance to the tune”. When Van Halen came on the scene, everyone before him was irrelevant, and those who came after wanted to be him.

Many haters gave Eddie shit for replacing Michael Anthony with Wolf and while it certainly would have been awesome to reunite the original band completely, Wolf does a fine job on the bass and his backing vocals are phenomenal! What Dad wouldn't want to be onstage with his son especially if the son had the chops to be up there. I don't begrudge him one bit. Especially now that he's no longer with us. Wolf will have those memories with him the rest of his life and deservedly so. R.I.P. Before posting "Dave is crap now" comments, I want you to bear something in mind, right before/at the start of the show Dave was "baton twirling" the top half of a mic stand, and that is an open/hollow piece of pipe in that state, and caught himself right on the bridge of his nose, splitting it open to the bone. He had a roady superglue the wound and strap it with a fabric band aid and got on with it, it being a live show with millions viewing on tv and the internet because in his mind the fans came before any amount of pain he was in, he was in ER right after the show and needed several surgeries after the fact to fix the injury properly, A singer can not sing correctly with a cold let alone an injury of this severity but he just did it anyway. K got that? good carry on.

@@charleslaine I do not disagree with you. It would have been great for him to give up drugs, alcohol and smoking cigarettes decades ago or not have started in the first place. But everybody regrets doing something in their life. The fact that Eddie got cleaned up and lived longer than overdosing at age 30 like many other musicians is something that I commend.
