This was actually the first Sonic game I managed to beat, actually, I think this was the first game I beat Period. Then I found out it's supposed to be just the first half of a full game XD

Even if all the members of MJ's team die Sega still has to deal with their legal representants (if they had hired one) as well the MJ Estate for any legality involved to these tracks and Sega doesn't seem interested in dealing with them and going through legal headaches just for a few songs given the few ports of S3 in the past and now, the music replacement.

Origins ost is literally the proto but with a few flat notes and it sounds like the device was shoved under a pillow and is muffled. I was dissapointed, as someone who enjoys the proto tracks, they really screwed up

I'm not that old, just 26, yet generations of teens today don't even know what it was like to grow up being a Genesis or SNES kid with the legitimate originals of these games...it feels strange to hear the first meeting with the original Sonic games being on Gamecube. Soon enough teens will only remember their first meeting with Sonic being on phone and iOS too, or worse, youtube let's plays, or what the internet has created out of the legacy of the Sonic fandom, how strange will that be i wonder..?

I try to not turn Super at all during the stage itself because the Invincibility theme gets really repetitive really quick. I only do it at the boss fights, that's where things get boring for me What really stinks is that if I try to fly, I go Super, and ruins the music.
Ah the overwhelming feeling of nostalgia, how I welcome it. Every track was a banger. It's amazing how these great tracks were created back in the day when technology wasn't as advanced as today. I had a great childhood, and I'll always have a blast when I play these games again.
Fun fact: Did you know Brad Buxer's team also worked on their own compositions for Angel Island, Hydrocity and Marble Garden? That means we almost lived in the timeline where they composed for every zone. Just wanted to put that out there.

It's likely those songs will never reach the public though.

Every year I listen to it on my birthdays ... and I remember how happy I was in my childhood, it's like going back in time for a few minutes and feeling that the world was too warm.
I prefer this a lot over the ACT 2 version. It's a lot more calm and nostalgic, it gives off a weird vibe, like I'm about to cry when I pay too much attention to it or listen to it for a longer amount of time. It's so sentimental, yet encouraging you to stay determined, so calm, yet expressive.

Ice Cap is the reason I love Ice levels in videogames so much. The music and the stage itself are so wonderfully crafted and I guess as a kid wanting to experience this feeling over and over again made me really appreciate Ice/Snow levels.

"We can't use all of the original sounds [from S3&K]. Jun Senoue has been working really hard to adapt the original music that was composed in 1993 for Origins" Rip OG Sonic 3 and Knux music 1994-2022

They still gotta pay royalties for Sonic 1 and 2, so in reality the royalties were probably higher than it would be to finish their old prototype songs. Not like those are bad either, Launch Base Prototype slaps.
Goodbye Hard Times, it's likely that these Ice Cap Zone tracks along with some other S3&K tracks are gonna be replaced with the original music adapted by Jun Senoue in Sonic Origins.

I come back to this song at least once a year to cry at 3 AM. I miss playing my DSI at night and listening to the music. This one was always my favorite but I flew through the levels so fast. So I restarted after beating this zone to listen to it more. I didn’t have a computer to listen to it on YT so I just stayed on this zone..
There was a part where Sonic leaped and scraped the side of the mountain and a crescendo played and my heart jumped thinking it was the start of this song and that we were going to hear a remix of it play next. Definitely a missed opportunity...
Oh god, it took me watching a TH-cam video 15 years later to figure out that Casino Nights Zone barrel. Not even joking. Before that, the only way I was able to pass it was by glitching through it as Super Sonic.
This has always been my favorite Sonic soundtrack from the Genesis days! I couldn't believe when I found out it's also so closest to a real song, probably the closest out of any Sonic 3 song. Of course, several songs in Sonic 1 & 2 were based very closely on actual songs by Dreams Come True.
This song has to be one of the best winter/snow themes in a video game ever, along with Snowman from the Mother series and that one ice level from Metriod Prime. I will the play Sonic 4 and Knuckles just to hear this.

While I do agree, I'm sure you're aware of the legal struggle this song (as well as others) faces preventing its use. Or I dunno! Maybe they totally could have used it and just missed tf out! Fairly certain the former is the main reason for its lack of appearance, though.

Ice Cap is the reason I love Ice levels in videogames so much. The music and the stage itself are so wonderfully crafted and I guess as a kid wanting to experience this feeling over and over again made me really appreciate Ice/Snow levels.

@@awesomeboss2020 Well, to be fair I don't think SEGA owns ANY of the classic sonic music except for CD and a majority of the sonic 3 soundtrack. They still gotta pay royalties for Sonic 1 and 2, so in reality the royalties were probably higher than it would be to finish their old prototype songs.

MJ and Brad did such an excellent work together (Beautiful Girl, Im The Loser, Stranger In Moscow, Days in Gloucestershire, and many unheard ones), i believe they also did MJ's "Space Dance" from Space Channel 5, or at least Brad using MJ ad-libs... I come back to this song at least once a year to cry at 3 AM. I miss playing my DSI at night and listening to the music. This one was always my favorite but I flew through the levels so fast. So I restarted after beating this zone to listen to it more. I didn’t have a computer to listen to it on YT so I just stayed on this zone..

There was a part where Sonic leaped and scraped the side of the mountain and a crescendo played and my heart jumped thinking it was the start of this song and that we were going to hear a remix of it play next. Definitely a missed opportunity...

Oh god, it took me watching a TH-cam video 15 years later to figure out that Casino Nights Zone barrel. Not even joking. Before that, the only way I was able to pass it was by glitching through it as Super Sonic.

This has always been my favorite Sonic soundtrack from the Genesis days! I couldn't believe when I found out it's also so closest to a real song, probably the closest out of any Sonic 3 song. Of course, several songs in Sonic 1 & 2 were based very closely on actual songs by Dreams Come True.
Origins. You took one of the BEST if not the best sonic 3 track away from us.
This song has to be one of the best winter/snow themes in a video game ever, along with Snowman from the Mother series and that one ice level from Metriod Prime. I will the play Sonic 4 and Knuckles just to hear this.

This is my favorite theme from this game, hands down. I remember making a remix of this with two cassette tapes and pause/cutting them together. Good times. Should do a proper remix sometime.
