... They are...! It looks like they added a tiny "waver" to to the waveform to give it that extra ringing echo! It's just such a tiny altercation you barely notice it! That "shiver" is way too uniform to be random error! Look at how stable the waves are on channels 3 and 4 when they're doing the chorus!
2:53 That little "pew" and subsequent reverse snare noise, in channel 2, makes me think of sonic zooming by so quickly, that the snow breaks a second later.
It sounds good at 3:13 because it’s sounds like 8 bit game gear sonic games but there were other sonic game gear Games but sadly an 8 bit Sonic 3 was never made but it would be cool if there was and this would fit right if sonic 3 8 bit was made.
@ElisianØhPläys Covid-20 Y'know, I wonder why they made the Genesis like that. There was no reason to do that, but they did. Its not like backwards compatibility was straight out of the box, because you needed to buy a Power Base Converter, so it can't be that. Good lord SEGA's choices were odd, and they still are.
@@trancethehedgehog7552 I mean it was kinda like that for Launch Base Zone Act 2 as well. may have been less to do with laziness and more to do with cartridge size limitations.
The track deconstruction between acts was for Carnival Night, Ice Cap, and Launch Base; the 3 main level tracks Michael Jackson's team worked on. Angel Island, Hydrocity, and Marble Garden were all made by Sega's own sound team, which is why their Act 1 and Act 2 themes are so vastly different.
Listening to these and thinking about how I remember the music, it's actually pretty cool how much the memory completely matches the deconstruction. It's also surprising to me which melodies were actually the PSG square waves and how the PSG noise added just that little something more to the percussion. I can only imagine how Streets of Rage tracks would look, especially Go Straight from SoR2.
It's some kind of apotheosis when in the end all channels work hand in hand. Following the build up step by step and then seeing it all coming together is just a magical moment to me. Thank you for creating all of these!
What I find incredible is that this was originally a unreleased track recorded by the Jetzons in the 1980s (Which Brad Buxer was a part of). I guess he had this stuck in the back of his mind wanted to use it.
Ice Cap is the greatest song I've ever heard, instantly memorable when compared to Hard Times. The heartwarming chorus, the excellent drum line, the crystal noises, the subtle bass, the square waves adding that depth, the Smoorh Criminal beat, and the subtle snowboard bleeps ...Oh God, is it all here and it's just great! I'll never forgive SEGA for cutting this one, especially cuz MJ didn't do it, and I think that this oscilloscope proves its brilliance in depth and cinematic appeal.
Half sonic team which is good in its own right, but the other half is Brad Buxer, which was MJ's sound guy. He had worked with him for years. Brad knew his stuff as you can hear.
Imagine hearing the first section as you first enter the level. You’re crossing a barren tundra covered in a light snowstorm. Then as you progress through the level the storm picks up, turning into a hurricane of ice and the rest of the track kicks in.
The sound waves look like they're shivering
Fitting
this is an ice level we're talking about
