Regarding the 8 speed automatic transmission oil change ZF recommends between 80 to 120 thousand kilometers or after eight years at latest not at 60.000 km. Official sources recommend an oil change at 21-24 thousand kilometers (BMW LL04 oil - long life for twin turbo diesel), yet again not at 10k kilometers. The scary rattling noise of an N47 engine - you better take the bus because in case of a failure of a timing chain might crack the engine block. The engine being installed longitudinally to ensure 50/50 weight distribution usually not the parts are expensive but the workaround in the service due to the fact that the engine has to be lifted out of the engine bay. No issues whatsoever with mine yet, but truth to be told don’t get a BMW if you don’t take into consideration the costs of maintenance which are a bit higher than in case of a French manufacturer’s entry model (Renault etc)
You should do an oil change way before 21-24 thousand kms as that is too long for these engines. Sure it might be what they recommend but your engine wont last as long.

the 2014 118d still has that N47 engine - but it has updated chain and tensioners, so yes there are basically no issues with the timing chain mechanism, although it's still good to listen for weird noises mainly at cold start and change the oil the best after 10 000 km and yes, the 118d, 120d and 125d models made from 2015 do have b47 engines instead of the N47
