Look it was good in its day, but with so many people going Hemi or 481x, there comes a point where you have to think you brought a knife to a gun fight. The only thing that is keeping it competitive is amount of nitro he is using. There will come a day when it just goes bang.
Carb cleaner, sometimes brake cleaner, basically everytime they get done touching it. Helps make sure grease, dirt,an oil,dont effect any engine parts. Helps see leaks easilyalso. So keeping it spotless is just regular maintenance at this level of racing.
I'd be willing to bet it's for the OG he already said he feels the small block is more than capable that set up in the OG now just isn't making the power they wanted I believe so this new set up would be perfect for the OG.
Came to mention similar... dude was holding the cylinder rod as well and I couldn't stop worrying the thing was going to fail. I knew it wouldn't happen else they wouldn't publish the vid but still. Guy needs to keep his hands clear of there when using the hoist.
I so love your shop. When my family raced we raced out of a "2" (more like 1 1/2) car garage. No room. No hoist. No cherry picker. Just putting in headers was misery. We did it anyway because we wanted to race. Did you go ahead and buy a backup motor too for the NPK season? God knows anything can happen. May God keep y'all safe and bless you in all ares. Ryan I've never built a racecar but I've worked in a race shop your idea of having three hoops is a good idea but just as a suggestion to the three hoops how about also incorporating a kevlar blanket to also reduce any further damage and as added protection.

When I was drag racing in the 1980s that was one of the very first safety features you had to have your honor car if it would go faster than 7 seconds on the 8th mile they didn't care about a helmet as long as you had to drive safety loop and I also knew guys they took all the seats out of their cars to make them lighter and one guy actually drove with the lawn chair in the car as his seat I live in Louisville Kentucky and the racetrack was Ohio valley raceway and this was in 1980s
Hey Ryan, What about putting a layer or two of Kevlar under the 3 hoops on the front end of the titanium driveshaft cover. It would be minimal weight but add that additional layer of protection you're looking for. Glad you're ok and developing new and better ways to protect drivers from freak accidents.

Perhaps Shawn is running the Pro Charger Hemi setup in both the OG and NPK car? It would make sense as they were speaking about sharing parts and trailers etc, it could of been a reference to Shawn having spares for both cars and a bit of misdirection from the Fireball crew. Shawn has changed his mind on lots of things, most recently it was when he cut holes in the bonnet of the NPK car.

Hey. In addition to the extra drive shaft loops. Would an extra layer of tube help? Maybe 8 or 10 inches long, upper half , side it over the top, and tack it down. Double the thickness.
Engine upgrade that's nice. And getting all the fittings and hose mocked up to fit everywhere is time consuming. I'm sure you'll get it all worked out.

@@douglasenzor48 Yeah but when the first few guys started using a lock up converter the rest were saying something similar to you (and a 5 speed for example makes more sense on a marginal surface than a lock up does at first glance)... The evidence, history & results are already there in other classes. It is only a matter of time.

@@Brandon_093 On a conventional clutch/converter car a powerglide will often be faster on a car with little power management and or a un-developed chassis. You get those two sorted though and it is not. The reason is a closer ratio gear change unsettles the tire and the chassis less so in theory you can apply more power even though you have more gear change events. This isn't my theory it is physics. There is a reason they are banned from and dominate some other classes.

Well the engine in the gray car is basically brand new they rebuilt that thing like every 20 passes I think Ryan say
It does look like they do heavy maintenance between every pass. Wiping it all down after every pass makes it much easier to keep clean.

Perhaps Shawn is running the Pro Charger Hemi setup in both the OG and NPK car? It would make sense as they were speaking about sharing parts and trailers etc, it could of been a reference to Shawn having spares for both cars and a bit of misdirection from the Fireball crew. Shawn has changed his mind on lots of things, most recently it was when he cut holes in the bonnet of the NPK car.

Hey. In addition to the extra drive shaft loops. Would an extra layer of tube help? Maybe 8 or 10 inches long, upper half , side it over the top, and tack it down. Double the thickness.

I don't think so..he answered me on another video saying on marginally good surfaces like they run on there is very little to no difference in performance
@@douglasenzor48 Yeah but when the first few guys started using a lock up converter the rest were saying something similar to you (and a 5 speed for example makes more sense on a marginal surface than a lock up does at first glance)... The evidence, history & results are already there in other classes. It is only a matter of time.

That was Ryan's response to me when I asked him about the transmission...but Justin has the liberty and he had the newer more powerful engine yet Ryan beat him 5 of 6 head to head races..Justin also run a lockup...so we'll see....if Ryan starts losing and he knows it's the transmission then he'll buy one..
@@Brandon_093 On a conventional clutch/converter car a powerglide will often be faster on a car with little power management and or a un-developed chassis. You get those two sorted though and it is not. The reason is a closer ratio gear change unsettles the tire and the chassis less so in theory you can apply more power even though you have more gear change events.
This isn't my theory it is physics. There is a reason they are banned from and dominate some other classes.
