Amazing experience viewing your modern engine machine shop. Interesting to see how CNC machines are being used. I've always wanted to be a Engine Machinist. I've spent 28 years in the trade mostly job shops, mold shops and tool and die. Very hard to obtain a job in a engine machine shop. Hats off to you guys🥰

This is fantastic insight. When you factor in the cost of time, effort, skill, people, equipment and paying for a place to put it all, it seems like they are not charging enough for each engine. With the quality they put out, there is definitely a ton of value in there. At 400 engines per year, they must be cutting it close on profitability......

Great video makes me wish I would have paid more attention in high school auto motive shop class. I now have a 2007 LS motor needs to be redone but Texas is a little to far to send it. But this was a great video what I did learn in school this video showed me that I paid some attention. Because I did understand some of what they were explaining.

Bryan and the crew at LME built a LT 416 for me last year for my 16 Camaro that made 680 HP in his shop. I didn’t get it running last year because I was waiting on parts for the fuel system. I’m building the car now and should have it running in a few weeks. Can’t wait, it’s still a 6 speed car with twin precision 6466’s.

Larry Larson can’t stand Jeff Lutz. I watched the Chicago race and Larry Larson lied and said Jeff Lutz flipped the coin over and cheated on the coin flip.
I used to like Larry Larson now I think he’s a piece of Crap.
Jeff Lutz is a much better person than Larson will ever be. Jeff knows a shit ton about everything. Great guy.

Glad to see ACTUAL facts in regard to blueprinting. After I worked for a top tier engine builder and learned what it entails, I cringe every time someone throws the term around. It is not a common procedure regular folks would do to their daily driver or low performance build because it is VERY labor intensive.

Not adding weight to the mussi powered cars looks suspect..prochargers didn't dominate you did..remove you and kye lizzy killed last year. Lizzy won twice, kye 1-2 times and kye lost in finals 3 times to you and Lizzy once but all by inches.. bow this year hemi with twins will have 100lbs advantage over you this year and 100lbs on mussi cars..that's major considering Robin beat you twice and kye twice..that combo with liberty I think may be unbeatable..I'm not sure on weight breaks on screw blowers but I heard 100lbs for them but still limited on boost drive which still gives twins a advantage

Anyone had any experience with Plasma transferred wire arc ( PTWA) thermal spraying. It is a thermal spraying process that deposits a coating on the internal surface of a cylindrical surface, or external surface of aluminum parts. It is predominantly known for its use in coating the cylinder bores of an engine, enabling the use of aluminum engine blocks without the need for heavy cast iron sleeves.

Man I’ve gotta say, I’ve seen a you tuber your LME before and not go into this detail. To the entire Fireball team I appreciate the video. Been thinking about swapping a 1500 single cab to a small block and LME will be high on the list. Local to you guys in Norman and this kind of stuff excites me! Appreciate the time and effort you guys put into this one.

I recently saw someone talking about hot honing: they have special torque plates that allow them to run high temperature coolant (170F or whatever) when honing. I wonder how much that's been tested to see if there's any improvement, doesn't look like LME does it.

Daniel, great question, I can't say the name of the series that I built race engines for, you tube will delete the post, but I can HONESTLY say that we have done that type of block Honing, as well as bolting on water pumps, engine plates, bell housings, even mock up oil pans to simulate the shifting a block might go through during a race. Trust me when I say, a cylinder honed by a professional to plus or minus .0001" in 12 or more places in a bore is more than adequate for any race engine, in any level of racing. I remain anonymous here for a reason, but don't believe me, look at some of the famous engine builders like Steve Morris, do you see him Honing cylinders in a temperature controlled environment ?
      Good luck Sir.

@@t.s.racing I don't know what secrets are enclosed in an SMX, never watched a complete build in person etc.
It's hard to know whether something matters enough that it's kept a secret or matters so little that it isn't done.
Any idea how much a torque plate changes bore measurements, rather than just boring a bare block?

If these Guys are the old LMR Guys, they had a red Vette back in the day that no one in H-Town could touch. The Dude that drove it was called Slinky, Skinny or something like that. They ruled the street racing scene on Rankin Rd & behind the Titty (,)-(,) Bar off of Rankin Rd. I hated Vette’s back in the day, they changed my viewpoint about LS platforms after seeing them dominate.
LMR had a shop over by Brittmore in Houston back then.
