    Thanks for the video. I just picked up a 2018 SAR and I'll be checking the air filter out. Your video will make checking it and installation a whole lot easier.

    Rottweiler has marketed their air filters really well. Slap on some fancy rocket names, sell power commander with the air filters and promote as if it's their product that's making all the gains.

    That damn "debri" plate is the bane of my existence. How in the word is yours in there so cleanly.

      Been a while since I installed that now, but I think I trimmed it a bit to get everything in there cleanly.

    Just got a 2018 1290 SAR and am doing the same set up except a Termi exhaust. Decat of the stock exhaust (I have a welder freind) and the Rottweiler intake with both of their stacks. I noticed you didn't add the PowerCommader. Are you happy with the performance? Throttle response smooth enough? I don't hear any popping backfire, burbles in your videos. I don't want to damage my engine by running too lean but also hate to introduce a foreign software component to a bike that is already bringing a ton of technology from the factory. Thank you for your input ACTUAL USER. Not asking for unsubstantiated opinions, politely. 😊

      Hey Joe, I had no issue at all not running the power commander. And I was told directly from Rottweiler that it wasn’t required. That being said, they did say there was more power to be had if you do install the power commander. So really it’s your choice. Bike ran totally fine without it though. Enjoy the bike. It’s a beast!

    Thanks for the video 👍👍👍 I see it has been 10 months. Any issues with feuling running too lean or too rich after stage 3 installation?
    Do you have to re-map your bike if you do either the SAS removal or airbox kit from Rottweiler or like you did both in his case?
    Sorry for all the questions I really want to get stage 4 Rottweiler upgrade just shitscared of blowing up that motor and then KTM will not even consider any mention of warrantee claims 😂
    Thanks again.

    • @EpicAdventuresOffroad
      @EpicAdventuresOffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching! No need to remap per Rottweiler. They said that the bikes will run just fine with no tuning. My bike has been running awesome! No complaints at all. And the intake sounds amazing. 🤙 highly recommend!

      @@EpicAdventuresOffroad Thanks for the video! You mentioned you didn't remap for the filter, but did you remap for the de-cat and aftermarket exhaust? I put a slip-on on an old Ducati and it would backfire like crazy whenever I was slowing down against compression.

    • @EpicAdventuresOffroad
      @EpicAdventuresOffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would say that performance, and better filtering for your engine are the main reasons. But sound is a definite plus for me as well. Thanks for watching!

  • @marekmozga3963

    Cool video
    But im still thinking its step back compared to original air box because of RAM air intake..
    This open type filter will never get that much pressure in speed compare to RAM air intake.
    Thats just my opinion.
    Am I wrong?

    • @EpicAdventuresOffroad
      @EpicAdventuresOffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      From my experience in taking it apart and seeing how the stock airbox worked, I don’t think it was seeing any pressure increase at all. The louvers on the front where the air would hit are angled in a way to keep bugs and debris from going down the intake, which means that it’s diverting the air pressure as well. The “duct” back to the intake is also very loosely put together and not sealed in any way so I don’t think it would maintain pressure there either. Also if you read on the forums, the stock intake had a nasty habit of letting a lot of debris past the filter. The Rottweiler intake eliminates that completely and has far more filter surface area which in turn allows it to breathe easier. (All of this is my understanding of the system, not saying any of this is an exact science, just what I’ve read and learned)

    • @ktmtravels3727
      @ktmtravels3727 ปีที่แล้ว

      That certainly seems fair enough, when you compare the area of the two intakes with the new filter, it looks much more efficient👍

    Thanks for the video , how frequently you should clean this air filter

    • @EpicAdventuresOffroad
      @EpicAdventuresOffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t see it listed on their website, so I can’t say for sure, but I believe it was around 10k miles. I think I saw them post a video at one point that said you could look up through the tank shrouds and see the filter, and to clean it when it starts to look dirty. Hopefully that helps’

      It is a sponge filter that must be oiled to be able to filter and trap the dust. It will never make 10k miles safely to me. Has anyone of you run a racing motocross/enduro bike which ha the same kind of filers? It must be cleaned after almost every use of the bike. Otherwise you will just allow a lot of dust and dirt inside your engine.
      It improves performance, at the cost of a higher mantainance. If you wish to clean your filter every 10k miles or km maybe the stock is just better.
      I am seriously considering to buy the whole kit but I am pretty aware of the fact that I will have to clean it and reapply a good filter oil after 2000 or 3000 km at the very maximum.

    • @EpicAdventuresOffroad
      @EpicAdventuresOffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@lorenzo6375 I’m not sure you’re making a fair comparison there. I ride enduro, and I obviously clean my filters all the time on that bike. These bikes see mostly street use where there is clean air most of the time. Obviously if you’re riding all the time in a very dusty environment, then you should clean it more often- otherwise known as common sense. But Rottweilers filter system is a two stage foam filter. Even if you go a little longer than you should at one point, the only thing you would suffer is reduced airflow. Not engine damage. Rottweilers suggestion is to look through the cutout on the side of the tank and see if it’s dirty, and if it is, clean it! Otherwise, no stated time period - (Oil change intervals on these bikes is 9k Miles just as a comparison)

      @EpicAdventuresOffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I hear you. It was a difficult decision, but the price increase was pretty significant for something they said won’t really change the performance that much. Might change it next time I clean the filters, but we’ll see.

    • @EpicAdventuresOffroad
      @EpicAdventuresOffroad  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Definitely notice a difference all around. I will say that I think it would be even better paired with a power commander like Rottweiler suggests. But it’s still a great improvement.
