Thanks for the name drop 😁 I had to rewind to double check I heard right lol. Really appreciate the mention mate. Makes my day when people comment on my channel saying things I’ve done has helped them out and encouraged them to have a go themselves. Regarding your reply to another comment about blocky video. I’ve had it myself and if I recall correctly I reduced the stabilisation settings. Thanks again.

I came from riding Kawasaki's as staff bikes since i got my licence in 2016 i was thinking about the ZH2, Tuono, MT10 etc....i test rode the SDR for 20 minutes and in June i went back and bought a 2023 model. Incredible bike. I didnt bother testing anything else mainly because its more about personality for me. Even my wife said if i was a motorbike id be a Superduke 😂❤😂
Brilliant love that 👍🏻🏍️💨💨🤣 yes full of personality and character, fantastic engine makes you wonder what’s coming next year 😬🏍️💨💨💨👍🏻thanks for the comment ,enjoy and ride safe 🏍️💨💨👍🏻👍🏻

Hey fellow SDR R rider. Mine is a Gen 1 with all the high performance goodie add ons . What a Beast it is. Really enjoyed your review. Got mine pre owned too. Got a good one with around 8 k. On the Odo. Didn't pre ride mine either . We got a couple good ones. 🙏 Miles of smiles on this bike. Congrats on your 24 hr. / 1,000 . I did a 800 miles in 18 hrs on my BMW 750 GS. WOW was that an experience. Lots of Deer out after dark in Texas. Alabama to Texas. Like and subbed . Ride safe
Hi mate that’s great you have the original Beast 🏍️💨💨👍🏻 from what I have heard they are a real handful so full respect there mate 💪🏻👍🏻 absolutely great bikes glad you have had one without any issues , like me 👍🏻 It was a great experience doing the 1000 miles in 24 hours absolutely loved it but was nervous if I would make it ( I’m not as young as I think I am anymore )🤣. I was gutted after my 800 miles. I kept on because the weather was so nice , and I wanted my own 🛌 . Stopped at one motel late but the room looked dated . So pushed on. I ha d some real nice add on Clearwater lights up front that helped on spotting dear . Cruised around 48 to 54 mph. Saw over 100 🦌 I know what it's like hitting one of those. Don't need to do that again. Bambi will take you down hard.

i test rode, MT10, Tuono, ducati streetfighter, speed triple, and the 1290 was the only oine that really stood out, the ducati was refined and a lovely machine, but felt stiff, didnt have the instant power off the 1290, and was uncomfy hot. 1290 is most fun machine, and such a blast to ride without going into the countryside even, pure hooligan machine.
That’s great to know 👍🏻 you definitely did your homework with all them test rides 🏍️🏍️🏍️🏍️🏍️👍🏻👍🏻 not like me just winging it 🤦♂️🤣🤣 it is just a great bike to ride 👍🏻and I would agree possibly the most fun bike with bags of Jekyll and Hyde character 🏍️💨💨👍🏻 thanks for the comment ,have fun , ride safe and enjoy 🏍️💨💨💨👍🏻
Like you I’ve been watching 100s and 100s of 1290 reviews…..I am still on the fence about buying but only because of the ones with issues, that aside your review is probably the best I’ve seen……cheers

That’s the thing about the SDR, with all that grunt it can get you quickly to triple digit speeds and back down in a shorter distance. No need to wind it out all day if you want to get your speed fix.

@@thebikerguysofficial I wished for the none EVO but in the US seems they only get in or order the EVO variant. I was very impressed with it ! On the fly adjust meant felt great ! I was skeptical about it because the BMW S1000R I owed had electronic suspension and I thought it was horrible. WP electronic suspension feels well sorted. I felt the BMW could never catch up to the road imperfections. I think KTM gets a bad rap for being unreliable. This is my third KTM super duke r and I'm very pleased. It's in a class of its own.

Great review! I had a first Gen 1290 r and put 20000 trouble free miles on it. Sold it for a Aprilia Tuono factory due to the superior suspension and brakes. Looking at a 2024 Duke since they’ve improved on the brakes and suspension with every generation . Great bikes 🤘

Very useful to hear a recent long-term ownership review of this bike. I’ve been enamorated with it for the last 3 years and I would like yourself go for the 2021 version, however, I’m slightly divided between this and the super adventure 1290 S for the wife to come along on the adventures.
Thanks very much appreciate the comment 👍🏻 I would say your wife might be happier on the Adventure S as it’s more pillion friendly , Stacey has been on the back of the SuperDuke but only for short trips of say 60-100 miles but it’s probably not for every pillion (or a happy marriage)🤣🤣 Adventure S I have never ridden but it’s massive in the flesh (possibly too big for me) more comfortable for the pillion 👍🏻 the GT is a good bike and something between the 2 , I did ride one and was impressed 👍🏻🏍️💨💨💨 spoilt for choice 🤣 try and sit on one at least , especially with your wife and see how she feels some people like being high up as they can see better 🏍️💨💨 good luck with your choice and ride safe out there 👍🏻👍🏻
@@thebikerguysofficial Thanks man! We both got on the Super Duke, the Super Adventure and Super GT! Obviously she likes thge Adventure a lot more, the Super Duke would be more of a my-toy. We had 2 of them for 7 years - and because they were ok, traded them into two 2021:s in 2021... Enginewise there is not so much change (about 15hp more at rear wheel) but the overall balance of the bike has become very good! The cruise control is great! Quickshifter is ok but with low revs/gears better be careful, it might be a little notchy (and, what is nice, one can have a reversed shift pattern without buying any extra parts). Suspension is on the soft side for us (we are a bit heavier persons than the manufacturer has assumed an average client would be, maybe). Only thing that was not ok with the 2021:s was the indicator switchgear (changed as warranty) and one electric wire recall, but that is about it. One little questionable thing was a slight hesitation at 5th gear and with high speed but that was encountered only once up till now. Streetriding - well the engine doesn't need actually the full power until over 200 km/h and with 5th and 6th gear, so a few extra HP from a 1390 is something maybe not so obligatory... Anyhow, when the 1390 is on the market, I don't see a reason to trade (well, haven't tested it yet...) - but if there would n near future be a semi-automatic transmission available, then I at least could reconsider... My wife says hers is and stays as her last bike. But who knows?
That’s great that you both have the SuperDuke and have gone again for another pair 🏍️🏍️💨💨 did you both do a fair few miles on your original 2 ? I also found the quickshifter a little snatchy at low gears 1st to 2nd ,2nd to 3rd when revving through so use the clutch for a smoother change 👍🏻 I’m loving mine and don’t think I will be changing it for another year at least 🏍️💨 although will try and take a 1390 out this year if I can, just to see what the difference is (and if it’s noticeable). Glad you both are enjoying your SuperDuke’s . Have you had to change your tyres yet ? @@thebikerguysofficial So far the Gen 3 is a nice upgrade over the Gen 2. The bike seems a lot more nimble and provides better feed back. If I went on a 10 day European tour (solo)what can I carry luggage wise ? ( none of this camping 5hite btw) any space under the seat, fuel tank range (when brimmed) service intervals ?. Thanks in advance.
Hi I have found SW Motech do a good range of luggage , I have a tank bag and also a rear rack system that fits over the pillion seat allows you to bungee a bag to. They also do side panniers by SW Motech so you can get away on one. No real storage under the seat probably enough for a disk lock and a chocolate bar 👎🏻🤣 fuel tank is only 16 Litres so range depends on riding but 150 miles is around what I get ,as far as servicing it’s every 9300 miles by the book but I do mine before that every 6000 miles 👍🏻 thanks for the comment hope this helps 🏍️💨💨👍🏻

Hown good is one on speeds upto 160kmph, are the windblast that bad at those speeds ?
Reloability issues.
I'm planning to get an SDR EVO in the UAE andn I've not heard pretty things about a KTM here. Coming from a 390 I think an an SDR would suit me more than any other bike.
It’s good as a daily driver very comfortable , with loads of power to get past cars safely with no issues👍🏻🏍️💨💨 if you go above the 100 MPH you will feel it and be leaning in to compensate a bit , I find 90 MPH is perfectly ok though ( on private roads 😜) reliability from the comments I’ve received so far have been ok and I’ve not had many issues at all 👍🏻 it also helps if the KTM dealer is good, not sure what it’s like for you out there. . Heated grips are optional extra . nothing to do with tech pack . The Only problem I’ve had on my 2022 gen 3 , was the same as yours the slave clutch cylinder . I had to push KTM to replace under warranty. As it kept getting air in the fluid. Probably happen again as changed like fro like .

I agree Fantastic bike 🏍️💨👍🏻 I will have a look at dropping to a 16 front sprocket next year when I get it ready for the spring/summer, thanks for the info ,and comment appreciate it👍🏻🏍️💨💨have fun and ride safe 👍🏻
why drop to 16t i have left the 17 on its fine use top over 150
@@KeirWilson-h4k I run a 17 T but just find I don’t use 6th when cruising at 70 mph on the motorway , I have read on forums that going to a 16T just helps being able to use 6th at the lower speed. When I have mine booked in next year for a service I will have a chat with the dealer and might do a change and do another video showing the difference 👍🏻🏍️💨💨 thanks for the comment hope your loving your SuperDuke 👍🏻ride safe and have fun 🏍️💨💨💨👍🏻
Great honest video m8 ..suits you 😂...
🤣🤣do you want one , do you sir 🤣 thanks very much for the comment appreciate it 👍🏻👍🏻
Is that GP1R? You like it?
I think that this is the GP1RS in ceramic black from memory but would need to check the receipt to be 100% sure 🤦♂️🤣 yes I am impressed with it sounds great and better in the flesh, the camera mic doesn’t do it justice, not sure if my neighbours feel the same at 4.30 in the morning 😬😬🤦♂️🤣 do you ride a SuperDuke 🏍️💨💨
@@thebikerguysofficial yes, I'm thinking to go for the sc project or this one. Doesn't have to be really loud for me.
@@winner1338 👍🏻I was close to getting the SC Project to be fair both are excellent, just down to personal choice which ever one you prefer 👍🏻 thanks for the reply and have fun on your SuperDuke 🏍️💨💨👍🏻 ride safe buddy 👍🏻
SDR’s are awesome bikes 😎 Bought both of mine (Gen 2&3) without riding them. Absolutely perfect for my road riding and they’re keepers (until I can afford the 1390 😂) 🍻
Yes I agree they are fantastic road bikes 🏍️💨💨👍🏻 did you notice a big difference between the Gen 2 and Gen 3🏍️💨💨 have you made any mods to yours 🏍️💨💨 glad you are loving your SDR👍🏻 yes exciting times to see the road test on the 1390 👍🏻 thanks for the comment ,ride safe and enjoy your SDR 👍🏻👍🏻🏍️💨💨💨
@@thebikerguysofficial Gen 2 is more comfy and raw but the geometry and handling of the Gen 3 is next level. I’ve put softer springs in the G3 and it was a game changer for my weight (73kg). Just installed the racetorx gearshift support and love it 🏍💨🍻
@@daveo9844 that’s brilliant 👍🏻 I was going to order the racetorx gearshift support as I have heard good things about them 👍🏻 might get that on the Christmas list 🤣👍🏻thanks for the reply👍🏻 you ride safe buddy 🏍️💨💨💨 have fun 👍🏻👍🏻

Yes I would agree 👍🏻just an all round great bike with bags of character 🏍️💨💨 thanks for the comment , appreciate it 👍🏻👍🏻
Very well done. Nice video. You nearly convinced me to buy one.
I still cant get over the 1000 miles in 24 hours. Full credit Dave.
Stacey always welcome to visit us in Cornwall 😂😊.
Cheers Baz much appreciated 👍🏻 1000 miles was a great experience and for a great cause (the poppy appeal) it’s on every year if you and Jay fancy it let me know 🏍️🏍️🏍️💨💨💨🤣👍🏻 Stacey is laughing 🤣🤣 think she will have to set off a few days before us on the new bike to get to Cornwall 🏍️💨💨💨🤣
@thebikerguysofficial haha yes I did type that at first. I'm just popping out to Cornwall. See you in a few days.
I would need to change my MR to do a big trip like that. I'm thinking of an F900 adventure. As soon as one comes available to ride.
What bike did Stacey get in the end? A Honda CB?
@@Baz1000r 🤣🤣 yes a big sports tourer ZZR 1400 would be my weapon of choice for the next time but I don’t think I could sneak another bike past Stace 🤣🤣

That’s great glad your having fun on a wicked bike 👍🏻🏍️💨💨 thanks for the comment enjoy that SuperDuke Ride Safe 🏍️💨💨💨👍🏻
I think I'll test ride one to see the hype but doubt I'd purchase one especially how I buy my bikes used so dealer warranty isn't there as a fail safe.
Man doesn't matter what exhaust you put on the twin just sounds soo crap
Hi thanks for the comment 👍🏻 yes give one a go and see ,obviously the review is only my opinion and my experience, a lot of people have been in touch also saying how pleased they are 👍🏻🏍️💨💨 understand how you feel about the warranty when buying used ,mine had 12 month’s warranty left on it and nothing was required ,only had a couple of issues as discussed in the vid 👍🏻 good luck if you decide to try one 👍🏻🏍️💨💨
@@thebikerguysofficial appreciate the response.
Also I like how you spoke about the difference in ride of a inline 4 and a twin.. I feel you explained it very well.
I currently own an. S1000r gen2 (2017) however haven't riden it. I also bought it off the bat like you no test ride. Just watched reviews and I really liked the looks of it so I bought it. I had only sat on a RR and it was between a triumph STR RS, Mt09 sp or the bmw s1000r. I found the str a bit cramped and hadn't had the chance to sit on an Mt09 but based on spec and bang for buck I choose the s1k. Hopefully next month I'll insure it and start riding it.
It's my first bike too loool so pray for me hahaha

What yrs do you recommend
Iv only ever ridden the Gen 3 2020-2023 , from other people commenting on the vid they say the Gen 1 and Gen 2 are good but a bit more extreme think the Gen 3 is a little easier to live with for everyday ridding maybe 🏍️💨💨
@thebikerguysofficial makes sense, i appreciate the video and you responding, Im definitely going to get another bike in April, always ridden superbikes currently own 3 litre bikes

Awesome machine but too much for UK roads. I don't regret trying one and I don't regret selling it a year later. I'm much happier on my WR450F.
Yes they are a quick bike and understand what you mean , it’s vey difficult with todays roads to get the most out of big bikes on the roads today 🥲 it’s good that you don’t regret trying one though 👍🏻 glad you’ve found something that your happy with 👍🏻👍🏻 ride safe and fun buddy 🏍️💨💨💨👍🏻 thanks for the comment appreciate it 👍🏻👍🏻

O yes loving the love of KTM 🏍️💨💨🤣👍🏻 thanks for the comment 👍🏻👍🏻
Brought a superduke to be sensible and slow down? 😂 👏
🤣🤣that’s what I told my wife Stacey 🤣🤣🏍️💨💨💨👍🏻
I find high torque bikes are easier to get the fun factor without all the speed. A nice twist of the throttle and you feel it all without having to scream to the top of the rpm range and hit high speeds, just to feel it pull. So their some logic to it. ;) Lol
Also it being naked helps with lower speeds feeling pretty fast. :)
I’ve had a gen2 and now have the gen3
Absolutely love em, not had a problem with either , and toured all ove the uk and Spain perfect
The only thing I would say, is they eat the battery, I was advised from the kTm service technicians to use the trickle charger I have even through the summer, as they have so much electronic systems running they do tend to be heavy on the battery
Proper beast and a pussycat all in one 👌👍🏼
That’s great glad you love it 👍🏻🏍️💨💨 would love to go to France and Spain one day the big 50 years old is coming soon so might be a road trip then 🤞🏻👍🏻 what is proper spooky is that I went to go out on Saturday and it wouldn’t start 🤦♂️ took the battery off gave it a charge and hey presto started 👍🏻might invest in a lithium as I have one on my GSXR and that seems to hold its charge brilliantly 👍🏻 thanks for the advice appreciate the comment 👍🏻 enjoy and Ride Safe 🏍️💨💨💨👍🏻
I said that exact thing when I was talking to ktm service guys, and he said don’t . The lithium battery’s don’t suit them and cause problems ( don’t know why , it’s just what they said, both of them and they both have super dukes )
They also advised me to remove the servo sensor , healtech delete, which I’ve done and it does make a difference 😁👍
