I am not familiar with how effective an ice pack can help to reduce pain for your pet's injection site. However, I do find that distracting them with treats, food, or scratches and pets on the head can deter them from the shock of the injection. You can also desensitize the area by scratching or patting the site prior to administering the injection. Be sure to always alternate where you administer your insulin injections to prevent soreness. The easiest site for injections is between the shoulder blades, but you can also administer your insulin dose in the left or right shoulders as well as the left or right hip areas. Hope this helps.
