    I wish they would make one like this gauged for canine blood. The convenience is great though. I've done 3 glucose curves on my dog using this apparatus, but it's expensive! I bought a glucose monitor designed for canines and now I can do it myself and save money.

    Thank you for the video. That is the clamest dog I have ever seen. He did not move, not even once.

      He is quite calm. Can you imagine how exciting this video would become if he DID begin to move??

      That is not a real dog, it's a dummy

      @@erikafarkasart I don't think it is politically correct to call them dummies. I think Real Life Challanged is the proper way to refer to them

    Ive got one on my dog in the UK she's 11 and before fitting was in dog hospital every 2 weeks for about 3 or 4 days at a time costing a fortune, now can check levels threw out the day and is stopping her levels getting very high all the time which was causing vomiting , stomach pain and high fat in her urine touch wood she's not been back in since having it on and as she has only been diagnosed a few months ago with diabetes the monitor helps to obtain more accurate levels and can adjust insulin dosage before needing hospital treatment I highly recommend the device they're expensive but well worth it

    Abbott will not honor their warranty when this is prescribed for a dog.

    How does one get one of these for dogs? I've looked around high and low but it appears the only way to get one is thru human prescription. Help??

      HI there! While it is only available with a prescription, and is designed for human use, your veterinarian is able to prescribe this reader for your dog if they determine that it is something your pet could use. Talk to your veterinarian about which glucose monitor would be best for your dog.

    I have a terrible experience with Freestyle Libre 2. It went dead after 24 hours and when I contacted them, they said this product should never be recommended for pets and they will not replace it. Below is their customer Service Message:
    "We are sorry for the inconvenience that this has caused, however the Freestyle Libre 2 system is only approved for human use. It has not been evaluated for use on animals. Hence, use of the Freestyle Libre 2 system on animals is not covered by warranty and will not be subject to replacement.
    Furthermore, we highly recommend you to get in touch with the vet for alternative way of glucose monitoring for your pet.

    Our vet put one on our Corgi dog 1.5 days ago but every time I scan it says 401. Never changes… always 401, is that normal or should it be changing?

    • @ManchacaVet
      @ManchacaVet  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It could be normal if your corgi's BG is high and this is the highest reading the FreeStyle will measure. It can take 7-10 days for your pet's BG to regulate on an insulin dose. I would recommend taking your pet to your Vet to see if they can use an AlphaTrak measuring system to compare their results to yours if you have concerns.

      @@ManchacaVet Thsnk you~ they didn’t tell us it couldn’t read higher. Well he has been on insulin 2 weeks on Sunday. I don’t think it’s working~ 5 units.
      I’ll email his vet, ugh!
      Thank you

      @@CoyoteCrossingSanctuaryDid you end up finding the solution?

    • @CoyoteCrossingSanctuary
      @CoyoteCrossingSanctuary ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Shak22B Sadly no~ apparently his sugar was so high it wouldn’t read. Giving him shots daily and the vet adjusting it for months, his sugar never regulated. He ended up having severe seizures. We had to put him down right before Christmas. He was 13 but still he was my corgi baby.
      I can tell you I’m a naturalist and through my research. I’m pretty sure it’s the manufactured dog food.
      Dog food didn’t used to be a thing….

    Adjust his injection about based on Libre 2 readings and how much he has eaten.
