I remember playing this when I was seven, it was on the GameCube I did not play the original, but I was so impressed by this game back then because it wasn't just 2d sonic, I loved the concept, I might have to go and find my old GameCube and disk for this game so I can play it. Thank you for bringing back some good memories.
Man this game is giving me so much nostalgia. Game is considered a bad Sonic Game from a large part of the gaming community but it has such a charming universe that most Sonic Games don't have. The music I think, is incredible quality, I even dare to say that the Genesis version has better music than the Dreamcast version. The fact Sonic Adventures used some music of this game. And just thinking of it makes my retro gaming heart shed a tear and makes me want to pop off my old Sonic Games. From Mastery System to Gamecube. Also funny memory I have as a kid I discovered the secret level select menu because my brothers and cousins played soccer in the room and the ball hit gently the Genesis as I played the game, it glitched the game into opening that secret with the congratulation message that I discovered this level select menu.

The only sonic game I love! Never been a fan honestly but getting the 360 genesis collection I instantly fell in love with this! Such a unique and charming aspect to it.
One Saturday morning, I woke up laying on top of the controller to my Sega Genesis with this game still on from Friday night and the level select screen on the TV. I had accidentally input the level select code: B,A, Right, A, C, Up, Down, A (or baracuda) by rolling all over the controller in my sleep during the night. I was shocked and incredibly happy as this was before the internet and I had no idea what to do with the gift. I checked out the final stage to the game until I lost all my lives, then was grateful for the chance and moved on happily. Such a lucky memory.
@@minilaser123 There's a non-zero chance they didn't trigger the menu via the controller code, but instead by "crashing" the game. Most errors that would normally crash the game are instead handled to send the user to the level select screen. It's possible that leaving the game on overnight caused it to "crash" and go to the level select screen. You can intentionally get the game to "crash" to the level select screen by wiggling the cartridge as well, since it usually causes a bunch of errors.

This was the first time I ever noticed the orange flickies in Volcano Valley. Always thought there were just red ones. I also remember having a lot of trouble with the VV boss, because I had a hard time with homing projectiles when I was a kid
Yeah the Volcano Valley boss was a pain... it requires you to jump on those narrow pipes to hit him and then avoid the flame. Massive difficulty spike compared to the other bosses, even the ones that go after it. Kind of reminds me of the infamous Barrel in Sonic 3 only...THIS was a skill issue on my part, but it was challenging.

Always been sad that super sonic wasn't featured though. The special stages have got to be the easiest out of the Mega Drive games.
Diamond Dust and Final Fight got remixed in Sonic Chronicles aswell (Central City + Mystic Ruins respectively). Also, who else thinks that the Special Stage theme is *somehow* connected to SA1's Windy Valley 1? My brain desperately wants to make that connection after listening to both.

Dr. Robotnik discovers the seven Halls® Cough Drops on Flicky Island, but they are nowhere to be found. He soon learns that the Flickies residing on the secluded island are native to a different dimension, and can travel between worlds using large rings. Consequently, the Doctor determines there is some sort of connection and resolves to turn them all into robots using his new Dimension Ring Generator. Later, Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles arrive to beat Robotnik to the Halls® Cough Drops but find that they are too late. Sonic finds that Robotnik is already placing his Flicky friends into robots. Naturally, Sonic decides to free the Flickies and stop Robotnik from finding the elusive throat lozenges. The seven Halls® Cough Drops are as follows: The Honey-Lemon flavor, the Spearmint flavor, the Cherry flavor, the Menthol-Lyptus flavor, the Grape flavor, the Extra-Strength Menthol flavor, and the Ice Peppermint flavor. All delicious, as well as powerful.
God it's so wild to grow up with Sonic Adventure and hear Green Grove was where Emerald Coast's theme originated. And as a reference point, my first system was in fact a Genesis, with Sonic 2 being my first game ever, I just never had 3D Blast.
Yeah, a LOT of songs written for Sonic 3D Blast were reused in Sonic adventure. in fact Pleasure Castle is actually a track written for 3D Blast, though GameHut doesn't exactly remember where it was supposed to play, I think he said some bonus stage that never got added to the game. It was remixed by Jun for Sonic Adventure using modern instruments.

That's a bizarre flex in the emerald stage, but okay
@The0nlyKyd that's fine. I was really impressed by how well you avoided rings, and how little you jumped
Collecting more rings means more to add on the score at the end of the stage, meaning it's wasted time
