You should make the race track go over the water instead, that would be a lot more fitting for this location in my opinion. Other than that, looks great and I'm excited to see the rest!
TheGamingBram created a Mario Kart Wii custom track called SMG Star Festival, which is similar to this, but the layout goes to peach's castle and shoots you back to the start. Glad to see this in 8dx!
Kept thinking throughout the beginning of the video it's a missed opportunity to use a cannon, especially if you can get the star design from Galaxy! But I'm excited to see what he does with the forest path.
Woahhhhh, super creative idea! I believe someone else has turned this into an MKWii track before, but I absolutely love seeing your take at stuff! Hey, if you’re considering turning “Making Mario Stages into Tracks”, you should consider something from Super Mario Sunshine! I feel as though that game has a lot of potential in MKWii!
4:27 you can definitely see the specularity map doing its thing right here When the camera is low down, you can see a couple spots that are brighter than the rest, and when you rotate the camera to face more downwards, those spots change brightness and match with everything else those spots are slightly more specular, and that specularity is being picked up when the camera is low to the ground specular maps are usually subtle on textures like this, but can make a huge difference on other materials. Metallic materials and asphalt often have a larger variety in their specular maps (for example, asphalt may be shinier where car tires usually end up, since they've worn that area smooth, or metal may be mostly smooth, but rusted in some corners, making it rough)
Obsessed. I remember BEGGING my parents to bring me to get a rental of galaxy so o could play Rosalina on the Wii version of MK. Played as her nonstop until I discovered rose gold peach years later. Always thought it would be fun to be a lil lumino and just fly through the tracks without a kark
It's so weird how mk8 reuses textures from a 2007 game and still looks awesome! There are also some palm tree textures from mkwii in this game and trees from mk7 in the background of Twisted Mansion
It might be a little bland for the second half of the track to just be a path through the forest. Maybe for part of it, you could use some grate platforms to take the track into the air for a brief period, maybe add some antigravity and/or a glider jump into the finish.
Dude I love your Mario Kart videos, they let me see a side of production that often is overlooked, but man, you have been making nothing but Mario Kart videos for 4 months. While I do enjoy your blender content, I also liked your other stuff. I just wanted to let you know how I've been missing your other content. If you are really enjoying all the Mario Kart videos, by all means, keep doing what you love, its YOUR channel after all.
Yeah I kinda agree. I feel like I've been ignoring / neglecting the audience that I've been building up in my first couple years on here. But I have a lot of fun with these videos and they feel like they have more substance to them than a lot of my older videos. I think what I really regret though is not using the theme of the channel and the cafe shots anymore. But that's hard to fit in videos like these in a week. And y'know I have been wanting to make a follow-up to the Minecraft Terraria video so maybe I'll have to do a little bit of a return to form. And as much as I love messing with 3D models from my favorite video games, I don't actually play Mario Kart like ever lol. It's just the easiest way to do something productive and interesting with a Nintendo environment model. I've been meaning to sorta break out of this content style for a while but it's hard to when I'm trying to upload weekly this year and it's a pretty easy format to come up with ideas for solid videos that will get a decent amount of views every time. Anyways, I appreciate you saying that and sticking around through my 4 month barrage of Mario Kart videos lol.
I don’t know if anyone has mentioned it, but maybe you could add a part to the forest where you go over the hill with the tree mentioned in Rosalina’s story book!! I think it could be a cool reference ^o^
I've seen this attempted before, this specific location being turned into a track, but they never are able to handle the whole "making it a circle part". But with your work on making the forest in delphino square, I have a feeling that when this is finished it's going to be fantastic. GL!
Wouldn't it make more sense to go underwater through the lake? MK8 does have underwater sections after all. Then you can keep the map mostly looking the same apart from when you go underwater
If your making this a custom track for MK8DX, I feel like rather than creating an artificial forest path which was never there in SMG, you could utilize the lake area next to Peach’s Castle as an underwater section, where at the end, there would be a pipe section leading you from the lake to the start of the track. This would give you the opportunity to learn how to implement underwater driving - as well as possibly anti-gravity for the pipe section - as well as doing something that other versions of this idea have never done before, at least from the versions I’ve seen of a SMG intro turned Mario Kart track. Please consider this as an option.
You could put a ramp on the pier that gives players the option to glide over the lake and land in the main square, or if they can get enough boost by flying through launch stars (taken from Rainbow Road) then they can make it all the way past the castle gate to the junction. As for the turn up to the river, I think you should make it hug the cliff for a bit longer (towards the trees) to make it more gradual and seem more natural.
Personally, I would’ve had the path go off the cliff into an underwater section going up the river, underneath the bridge and then go into the forest. To give it a bit more variety y’know?
Ok, so we've got platformer levels as race courses and probably race courses as platformer levels (someone's done that I hope... Right?). Can we get a Mario Party board as a race course? Those are already loops so...
I did do Waluigi Pinball in SM64DS one time but that was more of a joke than an actual level. And I think you might be onto something with Mario Party boards as race tracks, that sounds really awesome. Thanks for watching!
depending on how this turns out, it would be really cool to see you try your hand at a completely original track someday, considering you're already making half of an original track with this new section lol
probably banger but it's video 2 of asking for Shy Guy Bazaar (ik that you answerd the last comment but i'm waiting till it comes and for the video getting more popular)
Cannot wait for the part when starbits try and shoot you down on any open air stretch of course. I want this to cause younger siblings I never even had to get ptsd from racing it. Galaxy is chaotic as all get out
You could add an anti-gravity part with the castle eradicated from the ground (bc it's removed by an UFO during the following cutscene). Maybe you could use texture from Rainbow Road from MK Wii (that's linked to Mario Galaxy). That should make this track more dynamic and modern.
If you haven't touched the route yet, why don't you do it over the water? The most iconic thing on that map is the castle and the route turns away from it, feels kinda sad.
I have an idea for a project. What if you completely redesign a track but keep the same path. For instance, Coconut mall but it looks like Bowsers castle.
"the specular maps dont do anything" Unless youre working with sims. Then one wrong move can make the texture look like someone dunked it in gell. Help me
Genuine question, why dont you use textures or nodels feom other nintendo games for some of these?:o like animal crossing for example, i believe theres some good assets you could get from there :o (i know nothing about modeling NDMFFMDM)
"As some of you may know, it's kind of a 2025 Tradition of mine to..." Absolutely died laughing right out of the gates. This is gonna be a good one. crazy how you've been doing this every year since 2025
He just can't break his streak
a man of true commitment 🥲
Waiting for “Turning Charlie’s cafe into a Mario kart track”
Just beat SMG for the first time recently (Yes, I know...), so seeing the Castle Gardens turned into a race track is great. Well done!
i never beat smg
Imagine the next Mario kart game has a rainbow road with this as the under track
@JemarcusTheLamb87 I would love the next rainbow road to start on the ground at some kind of observatory and shoot up to the rainbow with a cannon!
@@Ninjakurl7 you're missing something seriously, even if you played the second opus
@@ledark2512 i mostly played mario galaxy as a child and i mostly played on good egg galaxy but i should get my Wii and finaally beat ot

This after the announcement of a Mario Odyssey mod that adds Galaxy 1 into Odyssey is CRAZY
2:27 this top view made me think you could make an alternative underwater path using the wooden bridge on the left
Woahhhhh, super creative idea! I believe someone else has turned this into an MKWii track before, but I absolutely love seeing your take at stuff!

I LOVE sitting down to eat and a PERFECT video is uploaded!!!
This is easily my favourite of all your 2025 traditions, I'm so glad to see a whole video on it.
A Pingu track would've been peak
Excited to see where this goes!! Happy 2025!!
(also, petition for a pingu track revamp for april fools)
I just love watching these, it’s really satisfying to see the custom track come together.
I'm excited to see where this track goes
i. love. mario galaxy. this brings my childhood dreams to fruition and i am ALL for it
10:31 Outro song goes hard. What's it called?
It's called Party in The Clouds from the soundtrack of Adventure Time: Hey Ice King! Why'd You Steal Our Garbage?!!
9:07 This part blew my mind. Now I'm wondering how many games have used that roof texture and I just never noticed it.
It's so weird how mk8 reuses textures from a 2007 game and still looks awesome! There are also some palm tree textures from mkwii in this game and trees from mk7 in the background of Twisted Mansion
DUDE I am SO excited to see how this one turns out. Love SMG :D
just when i get on my mario galaxy obsession!! perfect timing!
I’ve always wanted a star festival track. It just fits the criteria so well. I really hope it does happen in Mario kart 9 or 10.
This is amazing! Can’t wait to see part 2

Project Zomboid!!!
Best part of my Sundays now, love watching your videos!
1:03 i kept replaying this section over and over and over again this joke made me laugh so hard
So happy to see you trying substance, it's amazing to use!!!
I made a terrazzo stone recently and the cobblestone reminds me of all the pain it took 😂
I love seeing all the levels in my favourite game turn into something cool in an entirely different game.
I love these videos, and the Galaxy crossover is perfect.
Love your content, I can totally see your channel blowing up in the coming years!
I love to see my favorite Mario game turned into a Mario Kart track! Please keep up the good work!
Now this is a BANGER of an idea.
Who else’s mind was blown Mario Kart 8 stole the roof textures from Super Mario Galaxy?

The line about specular maps had me wheezing 😂
Literally stopped everything I was doing to watch this!!

I think instead of looping around and onto that hill you could make a launch star themed cannon glider that would send you back to the start.
I'm curious to see you turn some Zelda worlds into tracks.
