    Hello Michael, I just watched this review, Feb.3 2021, and searched for the Wordsworth , but it is not available with the same color, I was taken with the Churchill Bordeaux, so I found one for sale here in the States from a retailer for Conway Stewart, and of course I bought it. The pleasure I receive from these fountain pens, especially when the pen glides effortlessly across the paper, is a little joy that can only be appreciated by a fellow traveler. I keep checking my email for the notice that my pen has shipped. Oh, the anticipation is too almost too much. Thank You

      Yes, the Dartmoor resin they used in mine was a special, just for a limited edition of Detection Collection pens, sadly. The Bracket Green would be the nearest to mine, I think conwaystewart.com/collections/winston/ - but I have to admit, the Bordeaux Chased is a fabulous pen too. I reviewed one last year, and it was just wonderful to write with. In fact, when I had to pick a favourite between that and a Wordsworth, it was a very, very difficult choice!

    Well, my Winston arrived today and it is an astonishingly good pen. The Churchill is just too big and heavy for me. I have listed the Wordsworth for future purchase. I am lucky in that I'm not keen on the current resin colour they are offering at present, another will come along in time.
    For now the Winston has pride of place as my daily writer. As you say the nib paper feel and performance are good indeed.
    Thanks for these reviews. They are so very helpful.
    Cheers

    I really like the Wordsworth, too. Thanks for the excellent overview of these Conway Stewart pens. I also enjoy seeing the different inks on various types of paper. I will have to get some Diamine Sepia. At least i have your excellent videos to keep me company as our confinement continues here in the US. Hello, again! LOL
    My Wordsworth arrived today.
    What can I say? The weight, balance and writing experience with this pen equals, or betters, anything I have ever written with. The nib is superb as well. The flex in it means that it a gentle writing experience, very nice indeed.
    It has good balance and a decent weight to it, yet it writes lightly with the slightest of feedback. So I've called it the 'Sir Baldwin'. I can't imagine why. 😁
    Again thank you for reaching out and guiding my choice.
    Be well.

      Great video! Which pen would you recommend that is as a smooth writer like the homo sapiens?

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Akb88r Hi, and thanks for the comment. In terms of which is the smoothest writer, it's really down to the type of nib you prefer. I would say that the Fine nib on the Wordsworth is of exactly the same quality as my Homo Sapiens Fine, and the Churchill's Medium is as good as the Medium Homo Sapiens, although a very little more dry. All that shows is that the Visconti Medium is a real gusher on paper, not that it is any more smooth.
      For my money, if I were buying one of these, it would be the Fine nib. It just felt - and I cannot express it properly in words - but it felt right for me. It went with the balance and heft of the pen for the type of work I do, and made it feel almost as though that pen was made specifically for me. The Churchill is a pen I love - which is why I bought one twenty odd years ago, but for the work I do right now, the Wordsworth felt the better set up.
      BUT, like I said, this is a very personal thing. Either pen would be great, and both compare very favourably with the Visconti nibs. It's really just a case of which size of nib suits your writing style better!

      Ah - that, I'm afraid, is one I made myself! It's just a leather cover with a set of Atoms rings that take A6 William Hannah or Atoma paper. Um, if that appeals, I'd recommend hunting down a William Hannah A6 notebook - I've subsequently got one, and they are practical, beautifully made and take superb 115 gsm paper. You can find them here: williamhannah.com and choose your own colours for cover and interior.

      writerlywitterings quick question, which pen would you have the Winston or the Churchill ?

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mohammedhaidar2359 I have a Detection Collection model of the Winstone and a Churchill, and that would be a tough choice. However, I vastly prefer the filling system of the Churchill. The Winston had (and I believe still has) a concealed filling system so you cannot see how well-filled it is, whereas the Churchill uses a cartridge converter. That means you can open it to view the reservoir, which is useful; it also means you can take out the converter in an emergency and use a cartridge. Although I prefer the look and feel of the Winston, I think those would swing it for me to get a Churchill instead. Happy writing!

      Hi, Hüseyin, and thanks for the enquiry. From looking back at my notes, the Wordsworth was a fine nib, and the Churchill was medium. Both were really lovely and although I'm not a fan of fine nibs, that pen really converted me! Hope that helps.

    Hey! Do you still use the Pilot Capless? Thinkijg of getting it.

    • @writerlywitterings
      @writerlywitterings  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, and I would recommend them. I really like the speed of getting it out and ready, just like an old-fashioned biro. I like the ink capacity (mine is a Fine nib, so doesn't empty the tank too quickly). The odd shape (with the clip where you'd expect your forefinger to rest) really isn't an issue at all, the finger sits alongside. BUT, I have found that certain inks are not very happy with it. So some less easily-running inks may give you really, REALLY hard starts - to the extent that I started making the nib damp before I could use it. However, that is only for a few inks - most Diamines work fine with it. On the whole, a really useful, convenient pen for note-taking or scribbles when out and about. No hesitation in recommending them unless you need a vast reservoir for really long writing sessions of 10 pages A4 and more.

      My own "Detection Collection" pen is a Winston with a flat top, in effect. I love the weight and balance of that pen - it's 53 grams, while my Churchill is only 30. My own is in Dartmoor acrylic, which I think is just gorgeous, but I have to admit, I am completely sold on the Wordsworth in classic claret. That is a pen that I really covet. Excellent size and heft, and marvellous nib!
