*FIRE AND EXPLOSION* - London Fire Brigade vehicles responding to a gas explosion in bethnal green!!

- In this video you can see numerous fire brigade appliances responding and turning up to the 15 pump gas explosion yesterday in bethnal green. This explosion was first called in as a High rise Fire, then upgraded to a fire involving Hazmat/Cylinders/explosion. Then the Brigade Control used 999EYE which is a link they can send to a callers phone to access their camera so they can see the scene. It was upgraded to a persons reported fire, then upgraded to an 8 pump fire, then a 12 pump fire and finally a 15. Numerous specialist appliances were on scene including:
A306 - Islington FRU
A236 - Euston FRU
F266 - Bethnal Green FRU
A243 - Soho TL
CU2 - Holloway CSU
CU4 - Dockhead CSU
F21A - Stratford OSU
E29A - Lee Green OSU
A39A - Finchley OSU
On top of that many Station Commanders, Group Commanders, Borough Commanders, Deputy Assistant Commissioner etc.
Luckily at the time I was at F24 Shoreditch fire station who were on their way back from a shout they had just got when they picked the job up. Firefighters in the back of F241 are seen putting on Breathing Apparatus which indicated to me that it could be a job. Once i caught A301 (Islington) responding past the station i started making my way down towards where the appliances were going. Just after I caught a Borough Commander, Station Commander and A231 (Euston) in convoy which indicated this was definitely going to be something. Following that was a Deputy Assistant Commissioner which gave away that this job was going to be quite big. I started running down towards the direction certain appliances and officers had turned and saw a NPAS (Police Helicopter) hovering between the Shoreditch and Bethnal Green area. Once i had saw that i started walking in the direction of where it was only to stumble across the scene. Once i had arrived i did not know what the job was or what the makeup was!
Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters were called to reports of a fire and explosion on Granby Street in Shoreditch.
A second floor flat was significantly damaged by the fire and explosion and there was heat and smoke damage to the third floor flat above. There was external damage to the building caused by the explosion and the windows and fascia of a row of maisonettes opposite the affected block were also damaged.
Station Commander Paul Green, who was at the scene, said: “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus rescued one man from a second floor flat. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews.
“Another three people were led to safety by crews using fire escape hoods and a further person was assisted from the building. They were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation and three were taken to hospital.
“Firefighters carried out a systematic search of the block and a further two people were assisted from the building.
“Following the fire and explosion, crews remained on scene due on an on-going gas leak in the building. A 25m cordon was in place as a precaution.
"Part of Bethnal Green Road was shut and motorists were advised to avoid the area where possible.”
The Brigade's 999 Control Officers took 42 calls to the incident.
The Brigade was called at 1753 and the incident was over for firefighters by 0217. Fire crews from Whitechapel, Shoreditch, Shadwell, Dockhead, Islington and surrounding fire stations were at the scene.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

I mean, dense traffic is one thing. But there are pedestrians and drivers literally cutting of fire trucks or swerving in front of them. These people are even denser than the traffic.
That is one detailed video description, I enjoy watching these long videos of Emergency services responding to large incidents

@JohnSmith-ei2pz if it meant having to do an illegal maneuver, they can't. An East London mad pulled into a bus lane to give way to an LAS Mercedes Sprinter Emergency Ambulance. He got a fine, and he tried appealing it. The local coiluncil denied this, so he posted it on social media. That's when they dropped the fine.

@@zcharged8294The vehicles are in a public place. You can't legally expect any level of privacy in a public place, and no private information is being shared. Basically, anything you see in this video, you could've discovered by walking on the public streets, and therefore it's not against any privacy laws to upload the video.
I really feel sorry for the crews having drive through that much traffic.

Jeez the arrogance of UK drivers. Here in NZ, if you don't get out of a firetruck's way, you get continuously air-blasted by horns until you move. Ohhh, here comes a firetruck, let's just cut in front of it.
The inability of the UK drivers to just get out of the way for emergency vehicles I find astounding. You might be the person in need one day and I am sure you would want the services to get to you asap. People are often just so stupid

My God, how many station officers, commanders, commissioners etc. does one fire need? There were almost as many unmarked cars each with one occupant than fire trucks in this video. Incident management by committee! Seriously!
What's the initial response to a High Rise Fire and to a persons reported fire? Isn't a high rise fire 6 Pumps?
For a High Rise AFA LFB will send 5 pumping appliances, 1 Turntable ladder, 1 Fire Rescue unit for EDBA and if it is a smoke issueing/Smell of Burning they will also add a fire officer. For an actual confirmed fire it varies for example I have been at jobs where the attendance is 10 pumps, 15 pumps, 20 pumps, 6 pumps, 8 pumps and even just the usual AFA attendance (5 pumps)

When was this filmed? The reason why I'm asking is, at 1:30, 2:03 and 2:46 you can see three unmarked police cars, all of them BMW 5 Series. However, AFAIK, in January 2023 (or earlier) the UK Police stopped using BMWs because of a safety issue that caused a vehicular fire back in 2020 in which a police constable was killed.
These aren’t police vehicles! They are unmarked fire officer cars
You can also tell they are registered in 2021 and 2022 so 100% after 2020

Heard the explosion as I am only 1/2 mile away and saw the Police Helicopter hovering but could not be arsed to see what was happening... Will await the investigation results with interest.. My mate works for the council and from what he has told me I am not surprised by the amounts of high rise fires lately .... I am in a block and I dread to think what people have in their houses that should not be there.....

Wow, people don't give space to the fire vehicles! Some drivers do pull over but they are very slow doing it! I thought people in Florida were bad about that, this is worse. Never expected it in London of all places. Respect the fire brigade everyone! One day they could be coming to YOUR place!

The crews are responding to a gas explosion. That means the explosion has already happened. If it hadn't, they wouldn't be responding to it :)

This will be a senior officer's own personal car subsidised under the Essential Car User Scheme (ECUS) so they can pretty much have whatever they can want (though it has to meet certain emissions criteria) but they will only receive a fix sum towards the cost of the car....
Every working person is entitled to a nice car! LFB officers don’t just get given nice cars. They have to pay a certain amount out of their own pocket.
