      @@montyzumazoom1337 🤣🤣 they aren't usually filled with water there is a hose attached to the tank and they plug that into the hydrant and then another to a pump which is how the water comes out. There would never be enough water to put out a whole fire

      British-mechanic I'm a Hgv mechanic and occasionally get work on British fire engines. I drive a fast car reasonably well, but I take my hat off to the men and women who drive these fantastic machines. I get to drive them around the industrial park where I work, I don't obviously drive as quick as your dad, and never will. I don't know how he does, you can really feel the weight of them as you go into corners at speed. I wish him and his colleagues good health and happiness in there jobs and life

    Pisses me off when im driving ( full uk license since 1982) and i consider myself average after all this time.... while checking my mirrors and listening out if a emergency vehicle is within my vicinity and slow down and other drivers blast their horns give you the Bird knowing full well in seconds whats coming our way and guess what..... YES those drivers find they've got almost nowhere to go and get the evil eye from the emergency vehicle crew, it's worth pointing out that most emergency vehicles have both front and rear cameras if anything untowards occurs and let's face it... It does, please be aware that any of these vehicles could be on the way to your family or friends... it's not rocket science!!... and now i await lots of abusive replies.

      Paul Storer it’s an appliance control screen, so gives information about lockers and doors seatbelts etc and is where you control the emergency lights from. When pumping there is another screen at the back which controls the pump, and that information is duplicated onto the screen in the cab.

    • @Jessebella1
      @Jessebella1 5 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      No, they do slow down inconsiderate drivers, they do stop people being hit and in the more quiet back roads they are installed they do keep children in the streets safer and they do the job they set out to do, you say it as if all they do is dely response times for emergency services. My daughter was hit by a car as she ran out between parked cars after the ice cream truck and if it wasnt for those speed bumps slowing the driver down to a crawl, she would be dead. Its a shame they slow emergency services down but i still think without them it would be worse.

    Do fire engines have sat navs

    • @pqrstzxerty1296
      @pqrstzxerty1296 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All emergency vehicles have military grade Satnavs these days. People keep nicking them out of Ambulances, but they can be turned off, blown up firmware bricked, of set to be tracked by the police, so you get traced and nicked. They don't use Tomtoms.

    • @stevensmith5691
      @stevensmith5691 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is no such thing as a "military grade satnav"

    • @ashleyhoward8926
      @ashleyhoward8926 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sat nav can be useless, better to have properly trained crews who study & know the area. Not just where to go, but alternative routes for different times of day & night, even seasons, along with the nature of the risk at the address they are mobilised to by prior inspection.

    amazing insight a question though if i may what would happen if a station if there was a drill going on and the bells went down that required a full house call ie all machines to the same shout ie a major ?

    • @YelpBullhorn
      @YelpBullhorn 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Richard Jones ... they'd have to pack the kit away as quickly as possible, and then respond to the call. It happens all the time. But if the make-up would result in a significantly delayed response they'd have to inform control, who may or may not, turn out another machine from another station.

    I do wish the driver kept his eyes on the road at all times. There was no need to look at his colleague when he spoke. 8+ tonnes of fire engine can do a lot of damage if the unexpected happened when you're looking elsewhere.
