- If you can find out where to buy them these keyboard like controllers are great for beat em' ups and productivity work. While I am not a fan of the stock switches and keycaps, the PCB is hot swappable and has a ton of platform support (even Xbox and PlayStation with converters).

It’s for fighting game inputs. Why are you trying to come up with weird uses for it rather than finding out what it is for?
14:00 its because they all come from aliexpress. People order products in bulk from aliexpress and have them delivered to a warehouse in the US. Amazon then lists it for a significant mark up along with a quick shipping time.
This is for fighting game.
Wasd layout makes it pretty versatile for anything that would make good use of a d pad or arcade stick. Celeste or Super Mario comes to mind.

Let me help explain the main benefit of SOCD for fighting game dummies! You only need to understand two (2) things:
1. SOCD is useful in traditional fighting games for its functionality of converting opposing inputs (ex. left + right) into a neutral input (these games define neutral as “not pressing anything”). Some games, like Tekken, have lots of characters with important moves which involve a neutral input somewhere.
2. Fighting games are balanced around frame data, e.g. how many active frames a move takes, from start to finish. The more frames your move takes, the more options the opponent has to interrupt or punish it. In essence, every fighting game boils down to a simple numbers game and those numbers decide what moves are unsafe (and how unsafe) and which player’s turn it is to attack.
The Conclusion: Because some moves involve a neutral input, you want to execute that neutral input as fast as possible; you don’t want to waste any extra frames doing the input, after all! Therefore, SOCD exists because it helps you execute those neutral inputs quicker than with fightsticks or console controllers, which have longer travel times for the stick or your finger to move, respectively. Can you be a world tournament champion without SOCD? YES. Can SOCD give you a small advantage through faster move execution? ALSO YES.
In a sentence: SOCD optimizes the neutral input, which is good for fighting games that have a lot of moves with neutral inputs.

hey kevin, could you like confirm in verbatim for me that clicking L3 and R3 don’t accelerate the process of stick drift? And if not stick drift, any other problems that may arise? I just got a HYPR hall effect custom and for every controller i’ve had with paddles i’ve always binded L3 and R3 to my back paddles/buttons in order to preserve the potentiometer sticks.
reason i’m asking is because i really want to not have to bind the sticks so that i may have different inputs, but i’m not willing to do that at the expense of the sticks themselves
There is no proof that clicking down a stick does something that accelerates stick drift, but every stick modules including Hall effect have their own confirmed by manufacturer amount of click since it’s a switch that has tap lifecycle
Could i use the cronus zen to make this work on xbox?

GP2040ce is the firmware this board and many others use. It only gets PS5 compatibility with a brooks/mayflash converter on fighting games that accept legacy ps4 arcade sticks.
Wait, even for PS5 games with PS4 fightstick legacy support? Haven't got a PS5 on hand to test.
I've installed the extra files on my GP2040ce controllers for PS4 compatibility (to continue playing beyond the usual 8 minute lockout that unlicensed controllers can suffer when stock). This thing works indefinitely on my PS4 as a native controller now.
With those software additions in mind, would I still need a Brook FBC adapter or similar dongle for use with PS5 on legacy controller enabled games? Sucks if so.
I'm gonna wait for a more fully fledged wireless enabled Brook adapter or equivalent to release before shelling out on any dongle adapters for PS4/PS5, but sucks if such an important fighting game feature is jailed behind anti-consumer software level locks and pricey dongle monopolies from the likes of Brook (don't like how their dongles and peripherals often cost way more than 8BitDo, mayflash, or DIY options).
These are great for mortal kombat and street fighter etc

I just don’t understand why a gaming accessory in 2024 will be compatible for ps3/ps4 but not ps5 without a converter? Why is that?
Interesting "controller" cool design, i'd also swap the buttons/caps, looks like they have a lot of travel before it actuates.
Its a mini mixbox for fighting games
the switches themselves have a relatively low pre-travel and total travel compared to standard mx switches but if you are used to the snappiness of Sanwa buttons and their low total travel these might need some time to get used to it.
There are some neat "medium" switches, switches that are shorter not only in total travel but also in height, in the market that you can use for these that does feel a bit snappier, albeit your real only options are limited to tescee and outemu variants, get the tescees if you can cus oooo boy are the outemu mediums pretty rough.

Seems like it, although hitbox style controllers seem to be more ergonomic on the left side. The left side on this appears to just be WASD, which seems like a bit of a compromise.
