Competitive wise Low profile wins overall, shorter actuation means faster inputs. Hence new mechanical keyboards with Rapid Trigger and hall effect are taking over gaming market, Osu and FPS enthusaists switching to it, also Low Profiles are closest to OG Arcade buttons like OBSF etc. They actually made a good decission switching to low profile, for example Razer Kitsune is using lolw profile lazer switches (fast input). Also sliding is much easier on S16.
To each there own my friend. I only wish the buttons were as large as the s16 but with the same profile. Might end up getting an enclosure that fits Japanese buttons.
Hey! I do not play any 360 characters Tekken doesn't really have that motion. If you need to slide, I would def go with the s16. I can't imagine how that would work on the g16.
Thank you SO much for such a detailed and informative review! Such thorough reviews are so hard to come by and you answered every question I had and then some!
I just got the G16, it was the cheaper option by $10 on Amazon Canada but after watching your video I do like it's the thicker and heavier option along with the mx switches, it's my first leverless controller so looking forward to testing it out.
Nice, I was looking for this! Wanted to go for the S16 for the WASD position and low profile switches, but still had doubts. Seeing them side by side helped a lot!
Thanks for the video! Just thinking about getting into lever less and highly considering Haute. As other commenters have said - don’t worry about being a professional content creator; your video adds value and that’s all that matters. Thank you and best of luck with your channel!
nice comparison buddy, thank you! I have a G12, and I'm really thinking about buying the M model too...I'm loving it, really good quality, with affordable prices.
12:50 instead of using the middle finger to go up or down, for me it feels more natural if there is a button so that I can use the index finger to move up... that feels more natural
Managed to grab the T16 since I feel like the G and S series would be a bit too small, but hell, it feels it would be good to grab one of those for just traveling purposes. Also gotta love the little mixup at 18:22
It's all down to preference my friend. Most controllers use linear, but some people like to feel a tactile bump to know that they pressed a button. I use tactile switches on my keyboard and play games like Valorant without an issue. But my leverless is linear. It's all about what you like and what you perform best with.
I got a G16 a few days ago and was contemplating if I should buy silent switches..... After that comparison yeah... I will keep it as it is. Maybe it was just really quiet but those silent switches barely make a difference.
Yea it's a little bit quieter, but not much. I think it's the nature of the keycaps and switches together. Might not be possible to quiet them down without pressing them lighter.
Great video! I do have a question though. Is there a noticable distance in button travel between the two? It looks like G16 has longer and S16 shorter, but I wonder how noticeable it is when using them
Travel is definitely different. Shorter on the S16 as you said. But is it so much of a difference that it would effect performance in a major way? I do not think so. But if you are a perfectionist and want the faster device, it will probably be the S16. I just personally don't think it's by very much.
@@Realyst ah thats cool haha , i use it for kbd in tekken, i just spent a few days modding my mixbox in a couple ways, buying this wouldve saved me time n effort but theres no wrist rest like my mixbox so we will see
Thanks for the vid, was looking for differences between those 2, kinda like both for different reasons and can't decided lol Also is there a downside to not go for 16 button layout ? I kinda don't like having extra buttons, but who knows if I'm gonna use them
Totally up to you. You can turn the extra buttons off if you want and still get the extra buttons to leave yourself the option of using them down the line.
Thanks for the video first of all! I got g16 too and have a question - button caps pop off if I scratch edges quickly for KBD. Do you know a way around it? Different caps?
Yes that happens on mine as well. It's a known thing. You can use different caps. Uusing different switches helped a littled as well so if you plan on changing the switches anyway, hold off and see if the caps still pop off after the change. If they still do, then you can change the keycaps.
@@Realyst thank you. Ordered some caps anyway, at least should look better, but someone on Reddit said they are more stable in their experience. May try switches like yours if nothing changes with caps.
@@Realyst received the caps now, PWS/Stove-top Style. They pop off just the same 😄. Blue color looks nicer than default transparent ones though. What I also tried is to put these caps on my keyboard MX Cherry Red switches and do same fast scratching - they stay in place. Also when taking them off Cherry Red I can feel like they sit tighter, while on G16 default switches caps slide off easily. So, maybe eventually I'll switch the switches on G16.
No you cannot. There are some mid height switches you can put on the g16, but they still will not be as flat as the true low profiles like what's on the S16.
Due to the WASD layout you can play shootemup and any arcade game with ease on these like a normal arcade stick. Can't really do that with hitbox layouts.
@@Atomic-Punk Had the same question myself and what I did was to download the top down image of both on my phone, zoom for the irl size and position my fingers on the WASD, just to get the position they would be and see if it'd be comfortable or not
@@Realyst It's actually the fighting game aspect that I'm curious about. For example: You're on P2 side and you want to do a hop kick or a jump forward. Does you middle finger feel like the jump/side step button is out of place?
Do the button caps come off easily? I've heard people saying their button caps would pop off constantly while they are playing. With something like sanwa buttons, you can slap hard on them all day without worry, so I'm still deciding.
Hey friend. In some cases yes, the caps do sometimes pop off like if you press them at the edge and stuff like that. The issue is the caps themselves and not the switches. So if you get new caps, you should be good. I got caps for my G16 at Evo, cost like $12. I know it adds to the cost of the controller, but it still ends up being cheaper then a Kistune or Vewlix.
Dear friends, this comparison is very detailed, I really appreciate it❤
Oh wow. Thanks so much! Glad you liked it. Appreciate you stopping in.
Is it possible to program the buttons underneath the X/A button to be another down input?
@@heroicsquirrel3195Yes. You can program any button to be anything you want.

great comparison ! I think this is the first video in english that compared these 2 models

With MX Switches you have THOUSANDS of choices to choose from. Choc V1 switches you have like 10 😭I have been enjoying the Sunsets and Robins tho
So what Cherry 🍒 MX switches do fit in the G16? The faster the Actuation the better
Any normal MX switches will fit as long as they aren't low profile.
