    Most of the complaints come from repair time and cost. If you can't afford repairs, don't buy. I've learned that if I really like a controller and can't be without it if it breaks down, buy a second to rotate. It's unfortunate but it is what it is.

    I have an Xbox Elite Series 2, Scuff Instinct (Xbox Series X), Dualsense Edge, and a PS5 AIM controller with the works (paddles, digital click for all available options, Hall effect joysticks, hair triggers, got the MWIII plates) - I like all of them but none of them are my favorite in every category. Honestly, the Dualsense Edge is the closest if only it had longer battery life. I mean seriously I can’t use it for 2 hours sometimes without worrying about it going dead. My biggest pet peeve with the Xbox elite is I don’t like the clicking in on the sticks (R3 and L3) as it seems like it has almost a ghost press before the actual press. It’s not exclusive to my current one either I have had many (5+). I like the AIM a lot, but I am not a huge fan of the back paddles and the overall heft of the controller. Not the weight, but the girth of it. I wish it was slimmer like the Edge. The AIM PS5 also has the stick-click thing I mentioned on the elite, although to a lesser extent. There is also rattling inside the controller when it’s lightly shaken around, which I have to imagine is due to the way the chassis is designed to accommodate the back paddles and whatever mod board they are using. As far as the Scuff Instinct, it’s the least offensive but also nothing special. I like the trigger stops but I don’t like the thumb stick tension, feels too loose imo. Also has great back paddles.
    I hope this is regarded as a constructive criticism instead of a blatant complaint. Thanks for the great videos my man I love your content!

      For PS5 controllers just pair with Bluetooth, no adapter needed. He's got a separate video that covers overclocking controllers, that touches on Bluetooth as well. Input delay is incredibly low.
      For Xbox he's already got a video about wireless adapters for those too. I believe you want to go with a licensed Xbox adapter. Check out his video for details.

But I can't bring myself to spend $200 to $300 for what is essentially a $60 (MSRP) stock controller with 3D printed covers and "nicer" buttons. I would rather just buy an Elite 2 that could easily last as long or longer. My current one has lasted going on 4 years.

Or roll out a new version that can be comptatible. But still... it needs to happen.

      My pleasure, and thank you for your support. Honestly like I mentioned I’m seeing the stock controllers that the customs are based on get better each console gen (the dualsense is sweet), and the custom companies that have any kind of reputation, experience, and the budget, have been making better custom parts (paddles, triggers, sticks) over the last 3-4 years. Several of my customs I’ve had for a long time with no issues, and I do use the beans 🫘 out of these bad boys. When I’m not making TH-cam videos I play alot of games almost exclusively on controller nowadays (even on pc).

    To be fair they all charge way to much for something you can easily do yourself with a little time investment. Plus you gain the knowledge of how to fix issues yourself. For anyone wondering most custom controller companies use eXtremerate parts, and all those parts are readily available. Ive built many fully custom controllers for 1/3 to 1/4 the price

    • @GamerHeavenOfficial
      @GamerHeavenOfficial  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      If you include the price of the controller, the loss of any kind of warranty, and the fact a lot of people don’t want to take apart a controller despite tutorials like some of mine on the channel existing…that price becomes not so crazy. Especially if you don’t give a crap about cosmetics, most of the major custom controller companies have something in the $200 range. Having said that, you make great points and if one has the diy knowledge you can definitely save some money.

      Yeah I don't buy it. I play pretty much exclusively single player games, treat my controllers fine (like I've always treated them; wash my hands before using but don't really do much else special. Don't throw the controller lol) and I've had a ton of standard Xbox controllers crap out on me from stick drift. 4 from like 4-6 months of use and one out of the box. They're trash. My PS3 and PS4 controllers have no problems. Never had a problem with original Xbox or 360 from what I remember from owning them.

    Prior to winning the AIM Controller here (i was closest in guessing how much the Alienware PC you bought / never received after crazy delays and was refunded), I wasn’t really a custom controller customer.
    I want to say it’s been roughly 2 years though and unfortunately, I’ve given up using it as my experience with AIM has been unpleasant and I just don’t have the patience to deal with their ridiculous turn around times and the same repeated issues.
    I won’t use this forum to state that AIM controllers are shit as a whole - I’m not gonna over generalize like that, but I can emphatically state that mine is. First issues started within 3 months of having it - first, the thumb grips completely fell apart - almost like they were dry rotted. Second, trying to run (L3) when playing was malfunctioning and then while the mouse click ADS was nice; the stick drift was so horrendous, it was impossible to use. I got a dud I thought - I’ll contact AIM, tell them I won it on your channel and issue solved right? Eh - not so much.
    I contacted AIM, provided my case ID and explained the issues. Controller was still under warranty, yet in their response; they requested I make a video and send it to them so that they could see what I was talking about - evidently, stick drift and L3 issues were completely foreign to them. In any case; I fired up OBS, recoded a video and sent it. They actually had to approve my issues being legit and told me to send it in for repair which I did immediately.
    I didn’t get the controller back for basically 2-3 months and while it worked perfectly, it went right back to having the same issues within 6 months and it’s not like I’m a hard core gamer: I play fucking H1Z1 and occasionally would play COD on the weekends so there’s no wear and tear issue. It’s been sitting in its case for the better part of a year though so. Granted I didn’t pay a penny for it; I’m not nearly as pissed as I’d be if I had; it really sucks that the quality of mine was shit because I really did enjoy using it when it did work.
    Love your channel, love the content and from one veteran to another, thank you for service ❤

      First of all, thank you for your service brother! I am sorry to hear about your experience and I probably wouldn't blame you for saying "AIM controllers are shit as a whole" after dealing with that. So it won't be on the level of the Hypr warning but I DO have a couple of words of warning/concerns currently which I would like to see Aim address. I will give more deets on this generalized statement soon. Have a good day my man.

    Ive got a controller obsession but have avoided the 3rd party modded ones. Ive come really close a bunch of times and seeing this video makes me glad I didnt buy one. Ive found myself enjoying the simplisitic original design more lately. Im finding I dont need extra buttons as much as I just want to be able to get a good grip. I bounce between the Scuf Envision and the Dual Sense Edge but the Envision isnt all that comfortable to me and the Dual Sense Edge battery is a cruel joke. Ive been using a stock Xbox controller on my laptop and except for those ABXY buttons I really like it. I saw that Fallout themed Xbox controller in the video and I ordered it with some nice rubber grips. How about some more videos about current ways to mod controllers ourselves? Ive got an iFix It Kit and Ive done repairs before. I would love to put my own clicky buttons in some stock controllers myself.

    Alot of these custom controllers use original parts, I believe. So I wouldnt expect any better reliability than what you get with a first party controller. I would say just be realistic and expect them to break when your regular controllers would. I know they should be more durable for the price, but its unlikely. I dont even expect to use the factory warranty or anything like that. When these controller break I will sell them as broken on ebay most likely, get some money back from that and put it towards a replacement. When I played one console primarily (ps4,xbox 360,etc) I noticed that a first party controller lasted me about 1 year before it started drifting and I would replace it. Currently Ive purchased 2 Scuff controllers (PS5,Series X) and a Flydigi 4,2 King Kong Pros (2 and 3 MAX), Elite Version 2, and Razer Wolerine V2 Pro for PS5 and all of them have held up. The problem is that I now cycle through many of these controllers for different types of games. Theres little quirks and differences I like for certain types of games. I use adapters to use them on PC and other consoles as well. Basically its like rotating tires on a car to wear things out more evenly. I dont have one controller that Ive put a shitload of time in, so durability is still in question. I just assumed most of these controllers are no more durable than first party. The Flydigi and Razer use thier own parts I believe. The only thing that breaks for me on modern controllers is the sticks. I get stick drift after so much use. Usually several hundred hours (maybe 500 hours but its been a while since I thought about it). With the Elite version 1 several things would break. The Elite 2 seems more durable but Im sure the sticks would drift just the same. Im pretty sure I went through more than one Elite 2. I just dont use Elite 2 much anymore because these other custom controllers got so much better in every aspect. Even the cheaper King Kong Pro 2 and King Kong 3 MAX (or whatever the fuck theyre called) are way better than the Elite controllers with the features, and comfort with the KK2. KK3 went for a sandpaper plastic type of grip, thats my only real gripe with that version, but it blows the Elites away in just about every other aspect.
    My current favorite controller for modern games is that Flydigi Apex 4 controller. Incredible controller. It has just about every feature of every pro controller, in one, which is what I was looking for. You can even map keyboard functions onto any button. I like mapping save and load states on the back paddles so I can practice older games more efficiently on emulation. The dpad is clicky and very low resistance micro switch based. Only issue I have with it is the edges are a little sharp and Id like the dpad to be a little smaller (not as wide). Its almost perfect. The microswitch buttons are also the lowest tension Ive seen and feel so good during gameplay. You can map functions like turbo to any button on the controller using an APP on your PC. It would be better if it was like the King Kong Pro controllers and you could map everything on the fly, on the controller itself. Still you can set up multiple controller profiles which you can switch to on the fly using the screen on the controller. The trigger locks are not really too good. You can set a mechanical resistance to the triggers but it doesnt have that abrupt trigger stop that I like. I tend to power through the mechanical resistance like its not even there, so I just dont use that feature. The sensitivity is high so the triggers fire right away anyway, at the slightest squeeze. The hall effect sticks are super fuckin smooth, similiar to the King Kong controllers, but its awesome to get that in a fully featured pro controller. The back paddles are very similiar to the Scuff Instinct, which are the best back paddles I used. Super easy to hit since you rest your fingers on them and can rotate the finger slightly to hit either back paddle. Scuff instinct has only a slight edge since the back paddles are a little wider. You have to move the finger every so slightly with the Flydigi to hit them, but its very similiar style to the Instinct's paddles otherwise. It also has all the features of the King Kong pro controllers, such as programmable macros. With these you can program difficult special moves to the macro button that you set, or set it to do menial grinding tasks while you leave it running and do something else. The rubber grip is almost as good as the Scuff controllers, but nothing has beat that sticky rubber feel for me yet. However it feels quite a bit more sticky then the elite grips which feel kind of rough. It even has adjustable stick tension using an included tool that sits in the controller. Completely unrelated but fuck it, felt like talking about this controller. Works with all the various adapters I tried too. Works on PC natively, Switch natively (I believe) and Xbox. You can probably use it with PS4 games on the PS5 too, but havent tried that yet.
    Lately I find myself using this controller for EVERYTHING. I play everything from very old to modern games and Im usually using this shit for it all. Its like the ultimate universal controller minus the few little tweaks I mentioned. Cant get it to show up on Retroarch emulator for whatever reason but maybe I need to update those. Works awesome on MAME, Switch emulation and most everything else. Long battery life, low input lag wirelessly, no disconnects as far as I can remember, with any console or PC. Battery indicator and profile switching are the main things I use the screen on the controller for. Finding a universal controller like this was a big deal for me because Pro controllers were often missing features that other pro controllers had (micro switch buttons, rubber grips, etc), so having a pro controller that has everything from all the other pro controllers and is awesome as a retro controller for old games is one of the things Ive been trying to find for years now. Its just more covenient to use ONE controller for a huge variety of games, old and new. Not getting it to work on Retroarch was my biggest issue. That could be fixed with an update to Retroarch or maybe I didnt give it enough attempts (retroarch is super finnickly with any controller, especially if you have more than one controller plugged into a USB hub, causes tons of conflicts). This controller gets all the small details right, for the most part. Things such as being able to map not only keyboard keys, but multiple keyboard keys pressed together onto a single button and having that turbo and macro functionality, stick tension adjustability, micro switch buttons and pad, etc. It feels like they really took the best of whats available and improved on it. The dpad is much better than the razer wolverine v2 since it requires the slightest touch to activate, where as the razer takes a little force. It feels like alot of planning went into it.

    I would recommend against the 3 year warranty from microsoft personally. Based on my experience with it of course. I had sent them an Elite series 2 that started to not register inputs on the 'A' face button. When I purchased the Microsoft warranty it explicitly stated that a brand new replacement would be sent as long as it's within the 3 year warranty(this is no longer stated in the warranties).
    They sent me back a used controller with boogies on it lol. I was like wtf is this? Contacted their support with screenshots of the warranty I had purchased and they said they changed the policy without notice and will no longer be honoring the one I had paid for because in the terms of the warranty it stated they reserved the right to change the terms without notice. Of course like any normal person I didn't read through that( my bad).
    Anywho I got shafted by this experience, tossed the ol boogie controller (it showed up with worse problems than the one I sent in btw, stick drift sticky buttons, left bumper issues and boogers on it). I said screw it and built my own.
    Only downside is the extra buttons don't work as extra inputs. The moment I can find a board to make a kit with steam input support for extra buttons I'll be scooping that son of a biscuit up quicker than a fried egg on saturday morning.

      @Vizr. 19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      .5 circularity is bad and doesn't translate well to the gameplay. A lot of it is software trickery and when you remove the dead zones you'll see just how bad the actual module is.
      But if you want to take the circularity test as any sort of standard. The test should be just how symmetrical is your range, when it's at 9-14% "circularity error". Anything lower and your are loosing out in range.
      A lot of these are replacements and/or minor QOL mods. In order to move the diagnals range within that *circle one would need to change how the code works and the hardware. RC cars, drones and bots Analogs are completely different to how game companies intended there use from there gamepads.
      Don't be tricked from the marketing and sticks showing that result on gamepadtester.

    • @Vizr.
      @Vizr. 18 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@shycreation9418 right, it's mechanically impossible to recenter in the same spot. Ever. So when you see it going back to the same spot. It's because there a deadzone being placed. And or a controller readjust. That is really bad for micro movement and playing at 0 deadzones.
      You see how good a technician is with these simple installs. That how you get companies like Hypr taking 3months to make a sloppy ass install.

    Yesterday, my second aim controller finally arrived (yeah, I'm a sick bastard).
    My older controller was built just a few weeks prior to snap panels. And now to compare the newer one, I have to say the quality went down a few notches, the Dpad to be more specific. The digital face buttons aren't what they used to be, because they aren't tightly in place and they have quite a lot of wiggle room or if I turn the controller upside down, they "come out" a bit and if I shake the controller, they rattle. But the dpad is an even worse offender imo. It was supposed to be 4 seperate buttons, but mine aren't seperared and if I press in any direction, the opposite side lifts up.
    This really bothers me, since I have and older one to compare it to and it's a bit sad to see how the newer one has more features like snap panels and hall effects, but lacks the basic quality the older one has.
