Sometimes creating a video early can create the issue of not being up to date on everything...As season 7 has played out, some of this is a little outdated. I think this absolutely is on the level of season 6. The long-term storytelling aspect is even more important and more well done than I acknowledged in the video. I probably could have made an entire separate video on things that have happened since I finished this one. In short, MHA season 7 is amazing, and everything I said in this video is underselling by how much.

In this year, MHA has passed 100 million volume sales, dropped the BEST season of the anime and the highest grossing film of the franchise (in terms of yen, worldwide it'll be the 2nd highest behind WHM).
Bones is an incredible animation studio in their own right. They've done great work on MHA, Mob Psycho 100, and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. However, it is clear from season 4 onward that many scenes were not as good as they could be, because the studio was being stretched too thin while they were working on the MHA movies. The movies are definitely some of my favorites among all anime and I'm glad they exist, I just wish it wasn't at the expense of Lemillion vs. Overhaul, Deku vs. Shigaraki in season 6, or some parts of season 7
Additional note in regards to the MHA movies, I love that they're actually canon in the main story, unlike most other anime movies (that don't take place at the end of the series). The anime won't make multiple references to the movies, to prevent confusion amongst the audience members who haven't watched them, but they do acknowledge them. Also, the movies take place during actual gaps in the main story, unlike the original 13 DBZ movies which were mostly impossible due to certain characters being separated or incapacitated

@@gallenberger1phenomenal show overall. I feel like Season 5 could've definitely been handled better, and some of the costume designs for the characters shouldn't exist at all, but apart from those two things I have 0 complaints.
I'm biased in terms of my anime favorites since I haven't watched most of the popular animes out there like JJK, AoT, One Piece, Dragonball, etc. The ones I have watched is Spy x Family season 1, SAO, Dangers of My Heart, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian and of course, My Hero Academia, so I'm a bit out of the loop in terms of what other animes offer. MHA was the first anime i've ever watched and I love it a lot, when I first watched it, I was going through a lot of stuff and it helped me get through it and get my mind off things and I'm very grateful for that, so it is my favorite anime as of late. But what turns people away a lot from the show is the fandom, let's not sugarcoat it, it is terrible. Even I hate it a lot, especially how they treat Midoriya's english dub's VA. Another thing that people tend to complain about in the show is amount of monologuing the show has, especially during fights. If I'm honest, the fights are a lot longer than they need to be due to the amount of monologuing and me personally, idm it since it gives the fights meaning and emotional background. But I can understand why people don't like it that much. All that aside, I can't wait for season 8 and the end of an amazing anime and show, TOHO and Bones did a great job with this project and I look forward to their future projects after MHA!
I feel the same. The monologues and flashbacks during fight scenes something do kill the flow of the scene, but usually, it doesn't really bother me. I prefer if the fight has emotion and meaning behind it, rather than a fight scene with just great animation and not much to offer under the surface
I need to catch up because I don't know where I can watch it, I'm on season 5 I think. Also, we're gonna need regulations for all fandoms because they keep ruining stuff for other people not involved.
The anime kinda fell off for me in season 4, BUT i only dropped the anime to read and finish the manga, so Im happy with how these new seasons are going 👍
@@gallenberger1 man, it so many. I don't know where to start. Lol Dabi and Shoto fight. The animation was peak. Lol Also the moment where the Todoroki family all banded to together to stop Dabi. That was the perfect way to end his character. Horikoshi is a genius.
I hated when someone mentioned mha to me but when I watched the show I have to say this has to be the best new gen anime in my opinion and deku was a crybaby for season 1 and 2 but I barely saw him cry
people hating the anime because of people who have nothing to do with the series itself is concerning, as a mha enjoyer myself i hate the fandom aswell for their weird logic and fantasies that is ruining the series image
I’ve been saying this! The hate this series gets is insanely unwarranted. This show with its characters, story, themes, messages…deserves so much more credit.
@@gallenberger1 Not just that, but another thing that’s so great about this series that idk if you touched on…is the music. The OST produced by Yuki Hayashi for this series is so goated. Was just listening to all the OST’s for season 7 and it’s really really good. MHA certainly deserves more credit in this department as well.
"Is there an anime more slept on than my hero academia?" i don't see enough people talking about attack on titan and rezero might be a bit slept on, not that bad if you watch it
i feel my hero gets completely unwaranted hate there is only 2 real problems i have with it being the slow start of the second war as well as horikohsi kinda losing his way with what he wanted to do pre war arcs
I think the reason for a lot of the downplay is from the manga ending's (this comment is basically what happened on social media only and why there's quite a lot of unwarranted hate), an enormous amount of hate has nothing (And I mean genuinely has nothing to do with the source material) and Jujutsu Kaisen suffered the same fate with it's ending from mistranslated illegal leaks at least in how people view it because I haven't seen JJK but I saw what happened in how it was leaked (with JJK ONLY ONE PAGE which was the last page of the ENDING chapter OF THE WHOLE series was released nothing before that page and everyone already judged it as bad just from that when everything wasn't released until hours later, the leaker for JJK is like the 5th most interacted twitter account more than or even near than Trump or popular figures even though he decided not to leak the last chapter, you get an idea of how much and how bad the audience is to judge then circulate, JJK kinda gets it worse for the series as a whole because the officials and leaks it's hard to translate it to English because it is difficult to do so) so they're posted a few days before the official release and a lot of mangaka even weeks later has strongly condemned these leaks. I won't lie I have never seen hate from things that has never even happened for MHA especially Deku (he got it the worst out of all the characters in MHA and JJK, even close to Eren Yeager levels of hate/memes but probably just short term because a lot of the memes have just died down or I don't see them at all except from haters in the replies) one tweet had like 44 million views and so many 22 million viewed tweets, a lot of them don't even happen in the manga, which keep in mind doesn't have as many likes with like 200k-300k, Horikoshi's sketches get 400k to 700k like with his most with 77million views but besides that one tweet it didn't even match the most popular hate tweet with 44 million, Horikoshi usually gets 30-22 million views. So the discussion for the ending, you couldn't even have a discussion for the ending for the masses because a lot of them haven't even seen the series or dropped it in season 2 to just see what happened, keep in mind there are casuals who will just comment about a series without ever watching it and it'll explode in likes (leaks were that wide spread that you couldn't avoid seeing it on twitter so people joined to see it anyways) and some people only ever read the leaks with a lot of mistranslations and never the officials so you just have a lot of people see worse versions of the chapter, with MHA, JJK and One Piece the leaks for those series were the biggest (even chainsawman when it released). I won't lie it hurt to see as a Deku/ last chapter fan, because the last chapter is genuinely so beautiful in how it ties everything together at least in my opinion, there are criticisms that can be valid prior to the last chapter (also keep in mind the views for the prior chapter where near as big) but the last chapter is genuinely one of my favourite chapters in all of Shonen and I thought it was one of the best endings and deserves high praise which made me glad I waited for the official chapter to come out (over time there are a large amount of fans you do see love the last chapter so at least in that regard the hate seemed short term but it very much seems like it skewed the perspective of the animanga maybe long term but who knows from this point). The disgusting memes of the characters (honestly I should really just say mainly Deku and to a lesser extent Ochako) and terrible jokes that formed to critique was one of the worst I've ever seen, because most fans easily debunked any of them if you actually watched the series like a normal person lol. It wasn't Attack on Titan levels of memes bad but it would make any fan want to get off the internet for a few weeks or a month or 2 I'll be honest, it very much degraded the characters 🤢 It was 95% mindless hating, 3% the worst criticism you've seen in your life and maybe 2% criticism from prior chapters which I think can be valid but they're so small you might as well not comment on it, it very much made me question on the hate for the MC because it's not from a genuine place that he actually did himself that always troubles me, but at least the good thing is a lot of official voice actors in Japan, authors, especially overseas seemed to love it, even in the west there's was a sizable crowd that was really sad that it was ending from big noticeable people, the casual crowd just kind of drowned it out. Season 7 did help for more positivity in the series but again it's hard to tell, for example movie 4 sold the most in Japan than it has ever before but in the west it didn't beat it's highest record because of the marketing being done by Toho instead of Crunchyroll which usually brought in a lot of people but it was still quite a bit, you even see quite a bit of positivity for the characters with millions of views especially Deku. Okay that's it for my rant on casual communities and fandoms, because most of it IS nonsense, you even see it on TH-cam which is a big shame that illegal leaks has spread that far, it was extremely upsetting and hurt to see as a fan.
Another thing I will say for season 7, a lot of people were bothered by Bakugo's fake out in the manga less so the anime, but retrospectively with future content in my opinion I don't find it as disappointing because the meanings by why it had to be a thing that happened I think can be cool in terms of abstract meaning, but in terms of execution I can understand why people wouldn't like it but I do think it's not something from purely shock value I do think the author chose a good way to convey Heroism from the perspective of the adults, and I wish I could link this thread by this one person (and it would have spoilers in it too sadly so I won't link it) it honestly does a great job at detailing why it's not just shock value and does have a lot of meaning imbedded into.
it is good to say though that Deku out of all the new gen MCs he gets the most love and hate, literally today people are reminded how insane he is back in S2 that gets like 130k likes, I think he is probably the most popular or known out of the 2010s+ era for shonen MCs xD literally out of nowhere he gets so much love for a few days
@gallenberger1 it was amazing my from ayoma traiter arc to the deku vs. shigeraki fight and not to mention some when some say this show sucks are at this point hating yes only thing I don't like is the pacing but if you ignore that one issue entirely this season is peak for example the best moment by far besides the deku using gearshift Was when bakugo sacrifice his life that scene made me so emotional but it's by far his best moment So this season is the best one besides season 6 😁😎💪👍
honestly, the intro to stars & stripes was kinda... mid for me, got my hopes up then she fucking died 💀 not saying its bad, it was just a bit misleading and disappointing, she was hyped in season 6, only to be used as a "time saver" for season 7, of course that was crucial for the heros, as it revealed aoyama's... "thing", but I feel like there could've been a better way to introduce her without y'know... killing her off within the first two episodes (besides that season 7 goes hard af) (I watch dubbed so next week is most likely gon hurt me so bad, especially cause uraraka's my fav character, wish me luck.... | I believe the episode I'm referring to is called "battle without a quirk" or something... I honestly have no clue)
Season 7 is leagues better than 6 which was also an amazing season. Season 6 being better than season 7 is an insane take. I will say though, MHA gets a lot of undeserved hate. I attribute it to hipsters and bandwagoners people that like to hate to hate and others that jump on that wave. Basically what happened with GT and even Naruto as it was ongoing.
@@gallenberger1 mostly yes i am and more people should because if you just leave a hate comment that wont do any shit just ingore the fanbase and adore the anime itself.
@@charizard9470 The ending especially the last chapter was masterfully done by the author, the criticism shown by the internet focused on illegal mistranslated chapters which also leads to people using misinterpretations. 0:31 That's because other anime actually have decent pacing and don't need as much seasons. Sure, it's not One Piece levels bad but JJK has covered FIFTY MORE CHAPTERS in its 47 episodes than MHA in its. Season 7 was a pain to sit through with how little there was happening in each cut, they are saving budget and it shows. I love the story and the manga but good lord I am NEVER recommending the anime to anyone, it's a much better read than a watch. I really hope the final season benefits from less material, surely they cannot stretch 30 something chapters that bad
I disagree because from my experience, the manga was actually harder to get through. Sure, Horikoshi's art is next level, but the organisation of the pannels and the placement of the dialogue made it kinda confusing and hard to follow at times. I'd often find myself not reading for a while and then binging 2-3 chapters at once. Worked way better than having to wait week-to-week pacing wise. I'm not saying the anime is perfect in this aspect, as it also has a bunch of instances where the flow of a scene is kinda killed but considering what they had to adapt to, and how much explaining they had to do, i think they did the best they could with what they had.
@@timzyt63 Oh it must have been awful weekly, but that literally goes for every single manga in existance, they are made with volumes in mind, a weekly release WILL be cut off in an awkward place. However I'd say the manga still wins because of the quality it offers for the time invested. You could get through the entire thing in a single summer week while looking at beautiful illustations, with the anime on the other hand you'd have to invest at least 60 hours for animation that *sometimes* pops off. I don't blame the animators because I believe in them, I blame Bones' greed. If they didn't opt for a yearly release schedule the team would have more time to polish things up AND they'd have a better idea of where Hori was going with things. This is why I'm scared for Gachiakuta as they'll have to find a new cow to milk and I don't want yet another great manga rushed

@@gallenberger1phenomenal show overall. I feel like Season 5 could've definitely been handled better, and some of the costume designs for the characters shouldn't exist at all, but apart from those two things I have 0 complaints.

@@deandredukes95 Thoughts on this season?
@@gallenberger1 pretty good 👍🏾
I'm biased in terms of my anime favorites since I haven't watched most of the popular animes out there like JJK, AoT, One Piece, Dragonball, etc.
@@Jake15203O Couldn't agree more!
I feel the same. The monologues and flashbacks during fight scenes something do kill the flow of the scene, but usually, it doesn't really bother me. I prefer if the fight has emotion and meaning behind it, rather than a fight scene with just great animation and not much to offer under the surface

people hating the anime because of people who have nothing to do with the series itself is concerning, as a mha enjoyer myself i hate the fandom aswell for their weird logic and fantasies that is ruining the series image
Judge it on the material, for sure
I’ve been saying this! The hate this series gets is insanely unwarranted. This show with its characters, story, themes, messages…deserves so much more credit.
Right? Season 7's writing and giving relevance to basically every character the show had is insane. It's so good.

Fair critiques

@@kirbygamerxd6483 Same!
honestly, the intro to stars & stripes was kinda... mid for me, got my hopes up then she fucking died 💀 not saying its bad, it was just a bit misleading and disappointing, she was hyped in season 6, only to be used as a "time saver" for season 7, of course that was crucial for the heros, as it revealed aoyama's... "thing", but I feel like there could've been a better way to introduce her without y'know... killing her off within the first two episodes (besides that season 7 goes hard af)
(I watch dubbed so next week is most likely gon hurt me so bad, especially cause uraraka's my fav character, wish me luck....

@@gallenberger1 cus of the fandoms behaviour no one wants to be associated with mha even tho it’s rly good. like myself i love mha js no one knows it 😭🙏
@@othernoob5139 That's a bummer
0:31 That's because other anime actually have decent pacing and don't need as much seasons. Sure, it's not One Piece levels bad but JJK has covered FIFTY MORE CHAPTERS in its 47 episodes than MHA in its. Season 7 was a pain to sit through with how little there was happening in each cut, they are saving budget and it shows.
I love the story and the manga but good lord I am NEVER recommending the anime to anyone, it's a much better read than a watch. I really hope the final season benefits from less material, surely they cannot stretch 30 something chapters that bad
It's felt bloated at times but I don't think the pacing is nearly as bad as you do
I disagree because from my experience, the manga was actually harder to get through.
