Is it worth mentioning the chicken plants in Southside? I love the idea of walkable but not sure if the smell is truly an issue or just hyped by certain forums. Thanks for the video.

Why are East Ridge and Red Bank their own separate cities? Isn't Red Bank completely surrounded by the City of Chattanooga?
That's a great question and I don't know the exact answer to it. I would assume that at one point Chattanooga city limits were much smaller and so these other small towns became incorporated cities and then over time Chattanooga city limits grew to surpass them if that makes sense. Yes, Red Bank is surrounded by Chattanooga city limits. If you look at a Chattanooga city limit map you will see a hole where Red Bank is. All the different city limits here are kind of wonky, for example in Hixson which used to be an unincorporated town is now part of Chattanooga city limits. If you look on the map of the city limits you will see that only the lower half of the Hixson area is inside the city limits, the Northern side isn't and so wouldn't have the Chattanooga city property tax.
In the 1900s, Chattanooga was expanding its city limits through annexation, and in 1955, a state law allowed cities to annex land without the consent of the residents. Red Bank was incorporated on 21 June 1955 in an effort to prevent Chattanooga from annexing the area.
