Great review.... I am afraid the battery life is still too short to replace my Gopro Session.....in action sports environment there is no way you have time to stop and charge the Go2 in the case..... It is an improvement from the original GO though.....not enough I am afraid
Can you charge and record a video at the same time? It's strange how everyone is only giving battery life info that they give. 1080p and 1440p are 2 different resolutions so how about 1080p without the charger and 1440p with the charger?
Hi Ocloo. It seems you cannot charge and record at the same time. When I'm recording, it does not seem to be charging. I'm testing the total recording time of the camera. So far the total battery life of the charger far exceeds the storage capacity of the camera. So you'll need to transfer files to your phone or hard drive after around 48 mins of video.
I love my original Gos. Needed 2 of them for a full day out, but it was still cheaper than a GoPro. My videos are for me and my family/friends, so 4k isn’t that big of a deal. I’m not a film maker. It looks like they addressed nearly every concern I had with the original, and then some, but I don’t think I could afford 2 of these...I’ll for sure get one, and I’ll back it up with the original Go. Got to be a way to attach the full case & camera to say a GoPro mount via the 1/4 20 thread, so you can use this thing longer than the 20-30 min max time by itself. Ever see this yet? Or perhaps a 3D created one.
Hi Tom. The case has 1/4-20 mount so you can use a 1/4-20 to gopro adapter. Alternatively, you can use the powerd USB mount which has a USB type C port that can be plugged into a USB power bank for example.
One of the best reviews out there in youtube but what is the battery life in pro mode in 1440 50fps which is not mentioned anywhere. Since basic mode is bad, it is the most important thing for making a decision.
Hi JC. Yes you can transfer files from Go2. Just insert the Go2 in the charge case, and connect the charge case via USB Type C to your PC. Use Insta360 Studio to view the files, trim them, change the aspect ratio or fov, etc. Insta360 Studio is available from download from insta360's website.
Would you recommend this for basically a blogger who's still a little uncomfortable recording videos in department stores or piblic areas or that kind of area? I'm trying to do more informative, entertaining videos but I always find it weird that I'm holding my S21 Ultra up high and makes me uncomfortable at times with people just staring. I have been looking for a small camera but could never find anything that fits my need.
Hi zero and sora. Yes it would be excellent for that. If you are shooting with your phone, people will be aware that you are shooting and will tend to react to the camera. With the go2, it looks small, low profile and is also hands-free. You don't call attention to yourself when you shoot so it tends to capture more candid reactions.
The best review up to date. Thanks. For my use of filming track days, the biggest downfall for me is limited internal memory and that you need to upload vid first to mobile phone. I do not have 32 gb free on my phone (filled with other stuff), and if I want to film let's say 2 x 30 mins @ 1440p , I have to first upload one vid to phone in order to shoot the second one, then upload again to phone and then decide which one is better, and I will use. I would prefer direct transfer of files to PC with USB-C or with some kind of OTG to external portable hard disk.
Thank you very much Cyber Gasty! That's one of the cool features of the Insta360 cameras that I actually didn't mention in the video -- You can edit your video without downloading it to your phone. Only Insta360 cameras can do that. Yes you can transfer files directly to PC with a USB Type C. Not sure about external portable hard drive.
@@360vroomers Thanks, than this is a good feature compared to v1. I wish internal memory is bigger to have at least 1h-1h30 of vid before need to transfer files.

Hi Andreas. Yes it is better than the original Go for low light. You can expect similar quality to One X2. I will upload a low light sample on my review page.

Maybe a good idea is2 compared with the DJI or GoPro action camera because I really like to know if it's worth to change my DJI action cam for this one.thanks
Thanks Jantje. Sure I will compare the go2 with a GoPro Hero 9 and DJI Osmo action. I'm pretty sure the DJI Osmo Action will have better image quality. On the other hand, the Go2 has 360-degree stabilization, and is much smaller, so it can capture some shots that you can't capture with the DJI Osmo Action or a GoPro.
@@360vroomers yes I am very interesting in that stabilization especially on action safaris I'm dedicated to normally I record in HD video not in because of the word flow almost everybody watches Ed their mobile or pack so I think HD video it's enough for most of my clients

nice...great features they should have included in the first camera but that's their business model...I'll not be sending them another $300 though..they probably already have an 8k 360 version with removable sd card ready to sell us next cycle..
😁 yes i think it's a fair point - the features of the Go 2 should have been the ones in the original Go. I think with the original Go, it was a bold risk for them. It was their first non-360 camera, and it was a bit of an unusual camera, and they were not sure how the market would react to it. If they had made it like Go 2, it would have required an even larger investment for them.
Hi John. I tested both handheld and attached to my shirt. For pov shots attached to my shirt my voice sounds excellent except when im breathing heavily, breathing can be heard. For handheld shots, the sound is similar to my samsung s10 video recording except it is less loud. At a distance of about 5 ft to the subject, i can hear it clearly although of course it sounds better when it is close.
Go 2 is designed to record short clips. If there is no air circulation, it can record about 10 mins at max resolution, pro mode, high bitrate. If there is enough wind or lots of circulating air, then it can record for as long as 30 minutes. See here 360rumors.com/insta360-go-2-64gb-capacity/
Those record times are not possible. It will overheat well before that. They recommend only filming 10 minutes for ProMode and 15 for Basic. Mine kept crashing after about 3.5 minutes in Pro…useless
@@360vroomers thanks..... ordered one today........i can test it by myself......i think it will be longer than the 30 minute video recording time........ regards........
Thank you for an excellent review. One feature that was a little distracting on the 360 Go was the vibrate function at the start and end of recording a video. Has that now gone or can it be changed on a setting on the go 2? I suspect with the charging case and remote functionality of the go 2 the need for the vibrate has gone when signalling when a video has started or ended. Thanks again for a fab review.
I have go1 and old GoPro fusion, I was tempted to get one x2. Editing on the fusion is terrible. Insta360 is much better, but now maybe I should get this over the onex2? Hoping to use it for action/skiing. Thoughts?
Good question! The advantages of One X2 are the 3rd person view and the option to use "wide mode" which is similar to Go 2. The advantage of Go 2 is convenience of not having to stitch. Overall i would say one x2 seems to be better for action and skiing.
You do the best reviews. kudos. I was hoping that this will fit the motovlogging function - motorcycle helmet mount with external mic inside the helmet. The lack of a 3.5mm audio input is a big omission. I hope they provide Bluetooth audio in that is compatible with standard BT audio profiles and devices. The X2's Apple AirPod-specific support is lame/useless. Can it be easily turned on/off by a gloved hand with its backside mounted to a helmet? Does it support h.265 for better storage efficiency? Can if be externally powered while operating? This is a huge market that GoPro currently owns despite its severe deficiencies (e.g., the huge audio dongle required)
Hey there bernhtp. Yes it could be good for motovlogging. There are two things you might want to consider. One is the recording capacity, which is limited to 30 mins. The other is that there is no external mic input for the Go2.
Good question! Instagram is not among the apps that's built-in to the export function of the app but you can export photos or videos to your phone gallery and upload to instagram from there.
@@360vroomers thanks for the answer, also i have more questions (sorry for bother to you). Do we need another cable usb c otg for iPhone or Android to make it work with mobiles? The max record in Pro mode is 10 minutes (because of the heat), but how much time is the interval between this recordings? How much time can i record in only Pro Mode with only one charge? The magnet chest mount is strong enough for shaky activities? For too shaky activities, which accesorie is better?
Hi megaspare. The only way to purchase now is through insta360 directly. The cost varies by region because they have to pay the taxes and customs duties, which should be included in the price. If you are in the US, it should be $300. But if you are not in the US, it may cost more. you may want to ask your compatriots in the Insta360 Facebook groups to see if they are paying the same.
Hey there Cruel Crusader. I don't have experience with paintball but I think you don't need the small size of Go 2 for that. You could use a Gopro instead, which will be more durable and will have longer recording capacity.

Hey, thanks for the helpful review !👌 Ich have one question left in my mind though: Tge original 360go had interval shooting/recording mode where it would turn automatically on, record a short clip and turn out again. Does the 360go 2 have this feature now too ? Would be a no go for me if it doesnt have this feature thats why Im looking forward to your response :D

Great question! Currently there is no webcam feature but it looks possible. Re filter, all filters work on Go 2. If you mean shot lab effects, right now there are none for Go 2 yet. But i have asked insta360 to create one for Go 2.
Hey there Roberto! Great question! The audio is ok when the camera is clipped to your shirt or something. When it's on a selfie stick audio is not that great and unfortunately there are no external mic options (so far).
@@360vroomers Thx for answer. Unlikely, this is the worst disadvantage in my opinion. Do You happen to know whether this problem (discharging) also occurs with the insta360 one R and x2?

Thanks Tiago! I think the design priority for go series is always size and ease of use so i think it will always be one lens only. But tripod hole is definitely possible in the future!
Hi Kerk. Yes partly. It can record longer than go1 but it can still overheat especially if the go2 is not moving and there is no wind. If it is cooler or it is attached to a drone or something that moves, then it can record longer.
Thanks for this very informative video. For somebody who knows very little it seems to me to be very similar to the DJI Pocket 2? Lastly why are they called 360 when they obviously can't do 360 photos?
Thanks Bill! I have Pocket 2 as well, and I would say they do have some similarities such as use for social media. But one difference is the size. Go 2 is intended to be wearable and can be put in odd places such as walls or windows without trouble. As for Pocket 2, yes it can be worn but imho it's not really designed to be worn or to be used in strenuous activities.
Hi Abhishek. It uses the same insta360 app as other new insta360 cameras. If you have other insta360 cameras and were able to activate them in India then i think you can also activate go 2 in India. If not, I can check with insta360.
Are you sure about the recording time ? Many people have said it's stopping after 10 minutes due to heat issues Also how can you record for that long as it only has 28 gb of storage ?
Hi Jerome. The 28gb is enough to record about 48 mins of video. Re recording time, those are the specs given by insta360. In actual testing i have gotten 24 mins for basic video and 20 mins for pro video. They were not in the charge case.
Yes it's a HUUUUGE improvement. Almost like a different camera. Time lapse video intervals are 0.5s to 2 mins. For photo time lapse (interval shooting mode), the intervals are from 3 secs to 2 mins.
Hey man! Do you recommend this camera for instagram stories? Do you think the V1 resolution is enough for instagram? Idk if buy the 1 or the 2, the price difference is big, and the 2 weights more, and heats more. I only want it for instagram and some footage for TH-cam
Hi Hernan. Yes Insta360 go would be a good camera for instagram stories. The V1 resolution is enough for Instagram but the V2 is much better and a lot more convenient to use (with the remote, etc.). For youtube, the v2's video quality will look much better. FYI I will post about another potential option in the next week or so. Stay tuned.
Great review as always. Will be great for FPV. A little bigger than the original and will need a slightly bigger mount but the footage from it looks great. Arghh now I gotta spend more money 😭
Absolutely, it's excellent for FPV, especially tiny whoops. For larger quads, you might also be interested in Insta360 SMO, which is like an affordable naked GoPro. :D

I am not really after the POV videos but more of catching my kids and family fun times .. insta360 one x2 or go 2 u think is better. For what i am after..? I was thinking the insta360 one x2 since it really catches everything not just what you are pointing at but kinda annoying that you always need to be walking around with a selfie stick. Decisions, decisions ... HaHa Couldn’t I just be rich and have both ...
Hey there Anthony. For your purposes the x2 will be more versatile. Go2 would be more useful for things like hands free videos or pov videos. There are some things Go2 can be more convenient than X2 but many things X2 can do that Go2 simply cant.
Thanks for the feedback. I just have to get more practice with POST editing and x2 should be more natural to use i guess. Your videos are very helpful !! Do you have any videos with creating stores with insta360 application?
Very useful review as always. 👍 I've watched 25 different review on this camera now, and so fare no one has mentioned the interval video shooting, is that missing?? If so, it's a huge deal breaker to me since it's the function I use the most. 🤔
Thanks Keld. You are right. That is a feature that is not on go2. I forgot about it. But please note you can use the charge case as wireless remote to start a new recoding.
I know. But the fact that you can attract your camera and go for a city wall or something else without paying attention to your camera, and the excitement when you come home and watch your clip, that's what I love the most by the first version. 🙏 when they apply this in firmware update, then I'll order, no doubt, but not without this function. 😬
i think good thing that can be used not professhional quadro copter)) i think....also in bicycle can be attached in place where usual camera could not be puted....intersting camera was Go and now Go 2 Thanks You Mic))))!!!!
Another great video, thank you. One question.... although it’s waterproof, does it float? Nothing more annoying than watching your fantastic fully waterproof action camera, sink below the waves :(
Thanks! Good question. I tried it and yes the Go2 sinks. I've seen silicone skins for Go that i think might allow it to float. Hopefully they create one for Go2.
No key framing? Yikes! I use that all the time. That might be deal breaker, which is too bad because this seems to be an improvement on the original overall. Even the “disadvantages” are mostly carryovers from the original that I can live with.
Thank you so much for your perfect review, expecially as you took the time to always compare to the original Go, so we now have a clear idea, what to expect. I´m extremely disappointed though, that they migrated the vampire drain to the Go 2 as well, but alas, there´s so much improvement in other regards, that I think, I will still buy it. Thank you for your good and everso useful work!
Great review again but this new GO2 is not offering 4k, and image stabilization is still poor. And much Too Expensive! Will wait for a much better GO 3.. .
Hi Wiljan5560. It has the same sensor as one x2 and One X2 wide mode is limited to 1440p. So this one is the same. As for stabilization, it only has one lens (around 200 degrees fov) so the stabilization cannot be as good as a 360 camera.
Hi Nicholas. Yes. The Android app has now been updated to add support for Go 2 but you need to download it from the Insta360 website. The Google Play version is not updated.
Thought of it as well, i think some other youtubers went through crunch time with their uploads and edits as well, your’s is always on a comprehensive / well outlined classroom approach which offers great insights in that matter over the conventional youtube reviews. 🙌🏼

Hi. Firstly thks for the detailed video. One question, does it still heat up quickly?
Hi CityPanda. It still gets warm but unlike the first version, this can record for a longer time without overheating.
@@360vroomers thks. Appreciated

What is the quality of the sound using the inbuilt mic if it has one?

@@NiceAussie anytime!
I keep hearing about a overheating issues. Is that true and is it that bad

@@360vroomers And at this price it isn’t much more for the One X2.
@@iDocSonic uhuh so it seems x2 is better for you if you dont need the small size or wearability.

Thanks for all the information! Do you know if it is possible to do lives on instagram or facebook with this camera?

Hi Rikky. Jumpcut is only for the mobile app.
How do you purchase the Go 2? I’ve been searching the site, it costs nearly $400+, when I’ve seen people say it costs $300.

Dose insta360 go 2 have overheating issue?
Hi Kerk.

And if that's what happened, I can assure you it is worth at least $50 for how useful it is.
I hear it no longer does interval shooting! Is this true?! Another deal breaker! :(
Hi Jeffson. It does have photo interval mode. But no video interval mode. I wilk ask them to put it back.
Thanks sharing
Thanks Tuna!!! I've enjoyed using it for the past couple of months! :D
I want it!
Hey there Victor! I think insta360 did a great job with the Go2 - they've made so many improvements!
Thank you for the update. Does this camera shoot 360° view on video like Insta360 OneX2
Thanks Alan! The Go 2 does not shoot 360. It can only do non-360 videos. If you shoot 360 videos, the One X2 is the better camera. But if you always shoot reframed videos, then you might be interested in the Go 2 either by itself or as an accessory for the one X2. :D
@@360vroomers I shoot unman. Then I can pick field of view to reframe for the viewer in post. Go2 is interesting but I can only afford one. I have the onex. Not sure if I should upgrade to onex2 or go2.
No key frame Ayi! Best review man
Thanks Dj! I really appreciate it. I'm not sure why they removed keyframing. I thought it was a cool feature of the original Go...!
@@360vroomers ya they should put it back seems dumb without it ! I get this for fpv rather than smo 4k camera which need to wire and solder . Thanks for the sold out till today by them too. If not I would bought it last week
@@DjFuNkysara I'll ask them if they can put back the keyframing. As for the SMO, for some quads there is no need to solder. For example, the Beta95X v3 already includes a cable to connect to the SMO.
Hey Dj. The app was updated and yes it supports keyframing!
@@360vroomers ya man I wanted reply you on this and saw the key frame on another reviewer
Maestro the link is not clickable
Hey there Zouhair. Thanks for letting me know. Here is the correct link: bit.ly/go2sale Be sure to buy extra lens guards. :D
The price is a major weakness. It's only $50.00 cheaper than the DJI Pocket 2 and $100.00 more expensive than the current price of the DJI OSMO Action.
Yes that's true. There are a lot of good cameras in this price range. I will say that I do have the Pocket 2 as well, and I use this one much more often (partly to do tutorials). And the Pocket 2 has a lot of missing important accessories. So imho the real price is $499 (for the combo). But yes i love the microphone for the Pocket 2. Very convenient, although the sound is not as good as the Rode Wireless Go.
the bitrate is the big plus!
If you liked the Insta360 Go for FPV, the Go 2 is on a whole new level not just for image quality but also usability :D
@@360vroomers yess sold the first version after using it for about a week. I have the smo 4k and been waiting for the go2.
@@verdi6092 Great timing! I think the SMO is also great for FPV, if i may say so.
Can go into the sea with this
Hi Z-Spot. Yes the Insta360 Go 2 camera is waterproof up to 4m. But please note the camera charging case is not waterproof.
