  • Insta360 GO 2 Review!
    The Insta360 GO 2 is probably the smallest action cam on the market today, and certainly so from the perspective of any of the major action cam makers. I've been putting it through its paces over the last 3 months in plenty of real life action and non-action scenarios.
    Within it I've tested the 1440p camera, the Hyperlapse mode, Pro mode, and more. Whether or not 32GB of storage is enough, and we'll of course chat about that $299 price tag. I have side by side comparisons to the GoPro Hero 9, as well as size comparisons to the Insta360 ONE R, DJI OSMO ACTION, and Hero 8...plus the good ol' GoPro Session.

    The necklace mount is actually my favorite one. Because it's the only one that does not require your hands. Being hands free is amazing for a lot of situations. It's also a kind of "standby" mode. You're ready to record anytime without having to reach out to your pocket or backpack. The cap mount is nice too, but I usually don't wear a cap.

I can think of cooking, product showcase, behind scene or just walking in the street. This accessory is so much fun. I like this the most.

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Basic can vary, sometimes it's not horrible (such as when my entire body is stabilizing on a chest mount), but anything hard-mounted is unusable, and even hand-held can be rough. But yeah, FOV changes afterwards is awesome. Albeit, it does tend to squish some things a bit, but I appreciate it nonetheless!

    I agree with most of what you said except the mounts. I ended up buy 2 Go 1s to manage a day at the bike park., due to internal memory and battery. When I grab my cameras the pendant was one of the things that always came with the camera. It takes up no room and it doesn’t always have to be worn on your chest. You can stick it to a backpack or your shorts. Sometimes I’d even put it up on my shoulder. I felt it was secure enough for many things, including a few sessions of fast go-karts. However, at the bike park or anything where it might get bumped or scraped off, no strength of magnet could convince me it was safe. I always used the gopro style mount. As far as mounts being “huge”, there’s more to the story than that. I stopped wearing my gopro chesty because my body position and the weight of the camera were too much to keep the camera in place without having the straps suffocating you tight. With the Go, the camera is light enough that even a blown out chesty will keep it stable enough for flowstate to work it’s magic. And I don’t know about you, but my bikes, and my kids bikes, are all aluminum or carbon so I’d never think to slap it on like that. I don’t think it’s fair to expect a flat magnet to stick to a round tube anyways.

    Great video bro , the only thing I picked up on was the camera attaching to the bike with the camera magnets, you attached to the round part of the bike , so all magnets were not contacted to the metal frame , it does work great on a car flat surface , but yes I agree they could do with including more secure mounts for such things 👍😎✊❤️

    And there you have it, the difference between a sponsored video and a non-sponsored video. In my case, (and I hope this applies to anyone reading my comment) the difference has earned this TH-camr my subscription and future views. I really hope that the difference earns him enough views to compensate for the lost income he may recieve from a sponsor. IMO, this is a fantastic, well balanced review and something other TH-camrs should aspire to, and based on this, I wish DC Rainmaker many more Subscribers and views in the future 👏🏻

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TrailtoTrailTom It's funny, I actually had a bit of an explainer about that sort of things in my video, but ended up cutting it at the last second to the time down. The challenge with that is that the button on the front of the would get depressed (pressed) by the zipties, likely constantly turning it on or off, or stuck in one state or the other. Ideally they'd make a minor tweak to the Insta360 case to add two tiny holes to thread zipties too. That'd be brilliant. (There are two tiny slits already, but you can't slide a ziptie through them without blocking the cameras ability to nestle to its magnets).

    3:50 Yes, USB-PD can get pretty complicated.
    But for the usecase here, to ensure 5V charging over C2C cables, all they'd need are two 5.1 kΩ resistors between each of the CC pins and the ground pin of the USB-C receptacle.
    That is not complicated and also not expensive, and just a major design flaw with this product.
    Insta360 should be called out for this.

    • @Dcrainmaker
      @Dcrainmaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks - good details on what exactly is missing. And I agree, it's unacceptable.

    • @danieleckert3508

      I'm glad you tested with different C-C cables and let the world know.
      Sadly, a lot of people will not care, as they just see USB-C as a replacement for microUSB as a phone charging port.
      But USB-C is so much more; so awesome and versatile. it's a shame faulty implementations like this exist.
      And it is harmful for the entire USB-C ecosystem, as people realize something doesn't work (e.g charging C-C ), even if the connector seems to fit, and they then blame it on USB-C being defective or bad, instead of blaming the manufacturers.

    Also, while the 30 minute limitation isn't that great (I agree, they should have put 64GB in there), can't you just dump the video on your phone, remove from the device, and you're good to go for another 30?

    If you want to record a person's perspective for normal walking, running and going about doing stuff kind of video it's very unobtrusive and doesn't make you look like a cameraman with straps and velcro wrapping all over your torso.
    Its also good for hanging the Go to places like trees and other non magnetic things.

    Thanks for this. Being somewhat waterproof without a case, or with a simple case like the "gopro" one you show, is a nice feature. I currently use a Yi 4K to record commutes, but because it needs to be in a waterproof housing when it rains (which happens often, I live in the UK) it is then impossible to record audio.
    The short battery life / lack of recording space is a bit of a concern. The Yi 4K is good for longer rides because you can just charge it from a battery pack using a USB cable (weather permitting) and you can pop in as large a microSD card as you like. Downside I suppose is that not all microSD cards are equal, so you could run into issues with write speed, which obviously isn't an issue when using internal storage. But I don't know how you would even attempt to try and record e.g. a two hour ride with this.
    edit - actually I noticed that the gopro mount leaves the metal contact points at the back exposed. I'm wondering why this is because I can't see any accessories that use the contact points, besides the case?

      Thanks! Yeah, while I suspect for most freshwater fishing you'd probably be fine with the pendant and thinner clothing, I agree that the battery life - but actually probably more storage space, would be your main limiter.

    • @JorgeAcostaPesca
      @JorgeAcostaPesca 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      @@Dcrainmaker Ohh yeah i forgot about the limited storage, that´s another deal breaker. I right now use 256 GB sd cards, becouse i am always recording while fishing (you don't know when exactly the fish will bite) So that's yet another thing that they would need to improve for me to consider getting this. Still it looks promising, hopefully future iterations can improve in this areas. Thanks for replying! Love your content!

      Thanks for the sub! I haven't compared it back with the X2 unit. Was trying to keep things roughly in the same ballpark in terms of typical user.

    Great review! I've got the first GO version and watched this video to see if I want to upgrade to the 2. The chest magnet thingy is actually great to have. My grandson and I make vacation videos when we travel and the shots we get with that chest magnet really help put the viewer in the action.

    Thanks for this video. After a lot of research and almost making the mistake of buying a GoPro, I have decided to buy the Insta360 GO 2 camera. I have a question: Can I use the SanDisk 256GB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card for this camera, or is this an overkill? What card do you recommend? Thanks!

    How water proof is this?

    Always come to you for a proper review. Its left me on the fence with this camera - want one for bad driver footage mostly and a bit of fun footage. Price is the issue - if it was £100 less Id take a risk on it. Ive been burnt with the Cycliq rear camera in the past so reluctant to spend big. Tried GoPro - just too big.
