    Charlie, that is a sweet running C10 Patina. It is also a gem with 3 on the tree. We appreciate the TLC your giving to that truck. There isn’t many around in this day & age.

    I just bought an edelbrock intake, and low and behold, they tell you which intake gaskets to use in the instructions. "Use either Edelbrock #7201 or Fel-Pro #1256".

    Check for a vacuum leak on that side of intake ( hoses, manifold ,etc..)..low velocity will cause wetness in the manifold..

    Weight under or over can cause fuel in oil.

    I just ran into this issue. I have a 283 in my 68 c10. I put a aluminum intake on with felpro metal gaskets and had a water leak. After reading the instructions that came with the intake it said twice not to use the felpro metal gaskets.

    • @Chickeneyegarage

      I wish I would have had that issue early on. At least I could have put the correct gaskets on instead of buying a new carburetor just to find out the intake gaskets are bad. Live and learn

    Nice truck . Was curious if you checked fit of intake without runner gaskets and end seals . If block was ever decked or heads surfaced , there can be gaps that run full length of heads . If excessive , the fix is to have intake runner area milled .

    Love the content and your truck, I have a 1970 Chevy c/10 fleetside short bed running a 358 with that same carburetor, only difference, mine is an electric choke. I'm running cast iron vortex heads and my engine is mildly built by our local engine builder. I'm thankful for your info pertaining to the tuning of the AVS , I also love the patina of your truck, I'm going in the same direction with the patina look as well. I will be following you on your channel and if I can figure it out, I will send you a picture of my truck and I also have a video of my engine being run in the machine shop after being broken in. The carburetor was installed right out of the box with no adjustment.

    those fel pro gaskets are for factory Iron intake , the Edelbrock intake which is softer Aluminum , requires a more plyable gasket , Edelbrock makes the recommended Gasket for their intakes .

    • @Chickeneyegarage
      @Chickeneyegarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I wish I would’ve known that when I built the engine. Live and learn the hard way sometimes. Only reason I don’t use Edelbrock gaskets is the runner openings are too large for stock applications. They’ll work but I would rather have the smaller port size.

    If you have a lean bog check metering rods also changing that step up spring makes sense numbers wise but go back to orange spring.

      When I try adjusting my idle mixture screws, nothing happens. I can’t pinpoint an obvious vacuum leak, and it runs decent when 90% of air is blocked off. So I assume it’s running lean.. what am I checking for when checking metering rods ?

    • @scottfuglie9417

      If you can not get it to get rich by backing out the idle jets, the feed for the idle/transfer circuit needs be increased, with out doing that will always have a boog . Note what does your vacuum do if you go up just off idle to 1/4 throttle dose it prop off?

    I suggest upgrading that 1405 to a 4x4 style set up with the spring loaded float jets like a carter and your check ball under the accelerator squirters to a spring instead of a weight. Because squirter can drip if not functioning properly.

    how to just floats on this carb? I have always run Holley and I'm going to this carb

    • @Chickeneyegarage
      @Chickeneyegarage  ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to remove the top of the carburetor to access the floats. Float drop is supposed to be 15/16” and float level setting, basically flip the top upside down, you can use a 7/16” drill bit to set it (leave the gasket in place). Make adjustments on the float drop by bending the rear tab. Adjust the float level by bending the arm connecting to the float. You only need minor adjustments. It’s easy just takes a little longer than a Holley. I’m sure there’s a ton of videos on TH-cam about it. If you have any more questions let me know and I’ll do the best to help you out.
