Thankyouvery much for taking time to putthis video up for us to learn from! I would like to make a suggestion that it would be helpful to please slow down a bit when you are talking. Thanks again
Hi! Trying to do this on a 14 Escape. I was able to modify the ID but when i try to do the strategy Forscan says it cannot connect to download the file. I do have internet on the laptop.
Thanks for the video!! It already may be in the comments somewhere. If so, sorry. So I’m swapping a transmission that went bad in a 14 Escape, with a low mileage one, from the salvage yard. I’m guessing this is what I need to do after I have the transmission installed before I test drive? And I just follow your video and the steps. I should be good to go? Thanks in advance.
Is there a specific procedure when relearning the values? Put it in drive, let go of the brake, slowly accelerate up to 10th gear, come to a stop, Re do 7 times?
Hi, thank you so much for your video first of all. I’m currently trying to do this for my 10R80 as I just replaced the Valve body. After I input the new strategy number from the valve body it’s asks me what work has been done, I pick “Main Control Replacement Only” then it would give me “TRID data don’t match” looks like this step does not come up on your video.
Also mind you the reman valve body I repalced it with did not come with the ID card with the strategy numbers. So I'm taking the numbers that is stamped on the valve body itself.
@@CarShopTalk The valve body came from Ebay. And it didn't come with the strategy ID tag. So i was basically taking the 13 digit strategy number directly from the valve body itself. Also this valve body is a remanufactured valve body.
I have a 2010 Ford F150 with the 6R80 6-Speed Transmission. The licensed latest version of Forscan does not list a PCM module. Therefore there is no “Update Transmission Characterization” listed. Forscan told me this is not a feature available for my model/year vehicle. They also told me Ford IDS also does not contain this programming capability for my particular vehicle/year. So how is one supposed to enter the new solenoid strategy code and valve body id ? Apparently in my early 2010 my transmission uses a TCM that is moulded into the plastic lead frame that attaches to the valve body. I was told that the newer models do not have a TCM in the Lead Frame anymore and that a PCM Module is now used. I guess this explains why no PCM Module is found when Forscan connects. What a bummer, how is someone supposed to get this data entered? Is it only something a Ford service center can do with another type of software besides Ford IDS or Forscan? Sure was hoping to do this myself.😩
Is there not a TCM transmission characterization update option? I’m assuming you’d just need that since the tcm is on the lead frame and not controlled by the pcm
Hello, thanks for the information what if the sticker that has the Body ID and strategy number is damaged, torn. i mean if i don't have this information, is there somehow a way to retrieve that information, or is there a function to automatically detect this information ?
Just out of curiosity could I re renter the old ID if not changing the valve body? I’ve got some wacky shift issues that kinda go away when resetting the tables. Will putting in the same ID strategy possibly help on top of resetting the tables.
Mine pops up with a file not found then when I click to download the file it doesn’t work. I was able to get the body ID number in but wouldn’t let the strategy number enter
Hey bro. Nice simple vid. Under service procedure, I don't have "PCM clear transmission adaptive tables. Also I've purchased a 1 yr of Forscan. But the issue is, under license I don't see PCM trans character update, only TCM char update. But when i delete my license I have both, PCM & TCM transmission characterization. I'm using it on a rebuilt 6R80 auto transmission in a 2012 ranger. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you sort this out? I also had both PCM and TCM transmission characterisation options in programming. I updated the TCM characterisation strategy first only to have a PCM P163E and TCM P0700 programming error come up and the PCM option wasn’t there anymore
I have a 2006 Ford Explorer, American import. When the engine temperature rises, the compressor disconnects and does not start again. I changed the computer, but it does not help.
If its using the FORD servers to download the file based on the statergy numbers entered, doesnt that need sometype of subscription or is that stuff accessible without a subscription to fords database?
Couldnt you swap the selenoids over to the new valve body to avoid this relearn? Reason I'm asking is a discovered my valve body had damage (the plate). Figure that would work right?
Yes. If you swapped all the solenoids into the same position then the strategy would remain the same. I would still probably clear the adaptive strategy and perform a drive cycle relearn since you’re replacing at least part of the valve body.
It has to be the windows version of Forscan. I used a Ford VCM with it, but that’s because I all ready have it. Forscan has a bunch of adapter that are compatible listed on their web site.
Thank you for the video. My 6f35 went out. I will be doing this myself, can't afford mechanic. I'm getting a reman. Can you please tell me besides a laptop, what do I need to buy to do what you did on this video. I'm clueless. I have a 2017 ford escape se 1.5 two wheel drive. Do I need some kind of cord to connect to the car and do I need to buy the software? Thank you
@@galagatron5319 You’ll need to download the windows version of Forscan from Forscan.org and get an OBDLink EX cable from Amazon. You’ll need to get a 60 day free license for Forscan or buy a license and you should be good.

No, you don’t need a Ford loggin to download transmission strategy files. It should download for anyone. And yes, you’ll have to change it for a valve body replacement. I think it does need to be the paid windows version of forscan, but I think they still offer a free 2 month trial.
