    Tried it on my 2020 Ford F150 XLT 2.7L. I purchased it used with 35,000 on it. It shifted with frequent clunks. So I decided to try this out. It is literally just as easy as you showed it to be. Can't wait to see how it behaves for the next couple of weeks. UPDATE: After I reset the adaptive learning I noticed an IMMEDIATE improvement. It wasn't perfect but it was much much better. Then after about 9 days I realized that the shifting is now perfect. Guess it had to learn my driving specifics. I am VERY happy with how this worked out.

    there is a learning procedure from ford for this, i work on them all the time and the learning procedure helps it so much more than just resetting it. reset it then drive it through all the gears ensuring it shifts between 1500-1800rpm and then lightly brake and allow it to shift down all the gears. then you use the shift lever to perform a sequence with the shifter. alot of the time it will skip second, that is normal. do this 6 times then it should help it alot

    I just did this to my 2020 2.7 Liter F150. It immediately fixed it. No hard downshifts, and shifting was so smooth I couldn’t even tell when it was happening compared to before.
    A HUGE weight is off my shoulders now after spending 45K on a truck that would scare my wife and I with the random hard clunk downshifts. Not only the shifting, but general acceleration is fixed as well.
    PLEASE try this if you are having issues. Why FORD wouldn’t automatically do this when selling a used truck is beyond me.
    Thank you for the video bro.

    After watching this video I reset the adaptive tables and drove my truck for a day. The transmission seemed to be working better overall. I then decided to turn off the adaptive fuction to the transmission all togather and found the transmission performace was greatly improved. The shifting was smooth and positive especially when driving around town.. The engine did not feel as it was bogging down due to the transmission shift so much smoother.

    2019 F150 5.0 10 speed - Purchased used and my issue was hard shifting when coming to a stop. Following these steps my transmission shifts like new again. Also, took the suggestions from another video, with cold temp, started truck and let set for 5-10 seconds, shift into drive and drove with light throttle while going through the gears then slowing down to a stop going through the gears. When temp reach 160 used med. throttle and did the same, up through all the gears and down through all the gears. Gears 1 to 10 now shift smoothly through all of them up and down. Even though this video was 3 years ago, the video instructions were still the same today.

      I’ve got a 2018 3.3l with the 6 speed. In my experience and from what I’ve hear the 6 speed is definitely the route to go and as far as the 5.0 the only big issue I’ve seen is they do burn oil but that is not the end of the world. For my purposes the 3.3 does just fine.

    Took mine to a shop and had them reset the TCM. Fixed problem on 2020 F150. Was slamming gears up and down so bad I thought I was going to destroy driveline. Problem stated at 20k miles. Dealer was absolutely no help. Wanted to keep the truck for a week. This video told me what to do even though I didn’t do it myself. Cost less than $100 bucks and was in and out in a couple of hours. Warning, you may need to educate the shop on what the situation is. Some shops didn’t want to do it or couldn’t. Disconnecting battery and other tricks on my own were no help. I have a 20 3.5 Eco F150 with 10R 80. From new it had hard shifts, clunking i/o of park, and trans shatter noises, etc. At 5,500 mi. after the dealer run around I replaced all fluids with Amsoil and cleared/retrained the trans programing and all better now +very enjoyable to drive. Also have a '21 F 250 7.3 gas KR w/10 R 140. Pretty much the same issues but more intense/loud/often. It also kept hanging in 5th gear (requiering throttle play to resolve) while in tow haul mode. Replaced all fluids w/Amsoil and cleared trans patters. After ~ 300 miles all good. It is a monster and not as enjoyable to drive as the 150 Platinum. No idea if both w/Amsoil or the reprograming did the tricks. Year, I know ULV and Amsoil trans fluds differ in some regards but I have been using Amsoil fluds for almost 20 years in cars and truck = never a proble,,, Wow went to Blistein 4600 shocks on the f250 = what an improvement in ride and controle over OEM!!!!!

    • @rgdivin
      @rgdivin 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I took both 150 and later 250 to dealer. I changed two variables so which or a combo resolved the issues or both I am unable to attest to ((AMSOIL trans. fluid and dealer reset of transmission shift profile to learning mode). On both, once reset to learning mode I was told to remain in Normal mode (no T/H or towing) and drive normally for 250 miles - not just highway. All got gradually better and after ~ 350 miles all resolved. Note: Amsoil low vis. trans. fluid is approved/backed by Amsoil for both the 10R80 and 10 R 140 10 speed transmissions. Ford will not comment other than if the Amsoil is found to have created a problem Ford will not back it. But, the operating temp vis. is higher than OEM Motorcraft ULV. I researched the heck out of this and went with Amsoil. If you go with Amsoil use your own judgement on which to loose. Maybe have dealer do reset and go thhough learning phase and if that does not work do a different trans. fluid (ull flush) and have them reset again. No big deal on reset it took max 10 min. The process/equipment for Ford 10 speed fluid changes must be done by Ford = equipment/temp ranges/etc. Not like the old days....

      Your amsoil fluid change sounds like a great idea when I had my 17’ mustang gt the manual transmission needed the same thing done a fluid change to a better fluid which I switched it to royal purple at the time and it made switching gears ⚙️ night and day difference. Something about fords fluids just don’t really meet the demand of their products not sure if the engineers did that on purpose to make parts wear out faster? Which would sound about right haha

Also apparently my TCS light is "malfunctioning" so well that is an easy way to hide issues from me.

      You can get an adapter off of amazon. Just search for 'FORScan OBD2 Adapter'. There are several to choose from. They all do the same thing. Mine is the ELM327. The forescan is a free download. Just google it and you will see their website. They have a forum that has all the info you will need to get it downloaded and setup. Good luck. It is unfortunate that Ford hasn't come up with a software update to fix the issue. Especially considering Chevy trucks use the exact same transmission, but the software they developed has none of these issues.

      I have a 2019 Ford F150 with this 10R80 transmission. This is the worst automatic transmission I have ever experienced in my 48 years of driving. I cleared the tables like the video shows and it behaved for about 4-5 months. Now it is shifting like a sledge hammer when it feels like it and delays shifts too so much that at first, I thought my foot had slipped off the gas pedal. I never want to hear how bad Dodge transmissions are when this thing came on the scene, it takes the cake as the biggest POS the world has ever seen. Nice going egg headed engineers at ford that making this thing. Why adapt, cough cough, to a person when several people may drive the same vehicle. The premise is just wrong to start with.
