I’m an old school racer from way back and really enjoyed this video with all the history. I still have two sets of Isky blue anodized BBC rocker arms that I bought in the 70’s, they are the original “wide body” rockers and they are bullet proof. This young man reminds of the old days when a youngster was inspired by his father and grandfather drag racers, good stuff.

Very very very awesome well put together car! Truly one of a kind. My grandpa is a nostalgia drag racer, true 4 speed guy. Him and I race a bracket series at the local track with a 64 falcon with a 446 small block and a Jerico. Only guys shifting. We get our ass kicked sometimes. But it’s about doing it with family and being true. I love everything about your car and the purpose of it. Being able to grow up and learn and hear stories about nostalgia drag racing is one of the coolest things ever. Not many people get that. Keep it alive man! I envy you and your car.

Man, you don't have any idea how much I wanted to see someone who appreciates the magnitude of the story that needed to be told here. I was blown away watching Justin's appearance on the Hoonigans channel. I had to watch a couple of times to understand everything he had been telling those clowns, about the build. They just kept running their yaps, not even processing what he had been telling them. I felt like they were just flat out disrespectful to their guest that day.
Justin, this build is amazing! WOW!! I think it's an incredible tribute to your grandfather's life's work. A lot of little details, all on point. I had the honor of working on a pair of the old big block Chevy Hemi heads back in 2002-2003ish at a shop I was working at in Phoenix, AZ, just a quick refresh, valve job and resurface. I had the utmost appreciation for what I had in front of me. I'm glad you were able to tell the story, where it was meant to be heard. This thing is beautiful, I absolutely love your twist on it. And the way you showcase the engine, I could go on and on. The movie inspired details as well as the historical, California race scene parts and pieces, way cool man. I'm sure your granddad is beaming down on you with joy, just appreciating all of your thoughtful intent and execution of this build.
Ben, bravo sir! Your work just keeps getting better and better. I look forward to seeing more and more of your work. Spectacular! Keep up the great work!

We thrashed & built it in my Small garage & I can testify to the feelings you had when hearing it fire up first time as well . Cool Car you built & I hope it brings as much joy to you as my ‘72 did for me for over 17 years. Keep the memories alive of our Father’s & Grandfather’s 👍

I outran a policeman and lots of other people with it and it still runs great with its Isky Z-33 cam. I bought another 1966 Chevelle because I needed a convertible. It has a 283 with a power glide. I just bought a 1966 El Camino last week because I have always wanted one. It has a small block and no rust which amazes me. It’s solid. I’m just going to drive it until I figure out what to do with it.

@@FourSpeedFilms, I definitely subscribed because, your grandpa’s history is like big name speed freaks… The people this man knew and connected to still after the fact… Yeah, bro, I’m old school horsepower too… When you was talking about that rock crusher transmission, that brought memories of my older cousin having a small block Chevy 400 with that transmission in a 1950 Ford pickup truck with a 12 bolt rearend with Lakewood ladder bars underneath it… Very fast truck he had in the late 70’s… But, I will say this, he believed in Iske Cams bigtime bro…👍🏾

Cheers to you for your tribute to your GPop. Rare in today’s society. And that El-Co is SICK. Gotta be a great feeling rolling the gears in the Rock Crusher. Hold your head HIGH. Mr. Arias is smiling at his grandson, as I am.

I bought my Nova just so I can have something to do with my dad where we can have a memory that'll live on. I bought it around the time before we find out about his Parkinsons. My car ended up getting stolen which I found 2 years later. My dad has gotten worse but because of this video I want to start on my car with him with my next pay check. We got to enjoy the ones we have around us while we still got them

That's an awesome El Camino. I know how you feel I have a 63 Chevrolet truck that belonged to my grandfather. I'm 54 years old and I got my drivers license in that truck when I was 16. My grandfather died in 2007 and he left me that truck. I've been working on it trying to get it together. So I know how you feel about sentimental things. That was a great video keep them coming.

Kudos for saving yet another great story for posterity.
That car would look so good with that 70's era Arias logo on the door or body too. Everything from back then was so earthy yellow-brown-orange-red LOL.

Amazing story and video, really shows how the connection between a man and his car is so much deeper than something cool to look at or ride in.

I worked for arias, I was there the day the shop closed. It was real sad. A gentleman from Louisiana picked up the hemi Chevy program and purchased everything that was left. I helped him load it all and he told me he wasn’t going to let it die. I was very emotional when the shop closed it was without warning. It wasn’t up to anyone who was at the shop or a part of it really. We had so many plans and dreams.

That's one awesome car, unfortunately that world of hot rod is almost gone, people just aren't interested as much anymore, I'm into it but as many others, we can't afford to support a business that supplies hot rod parts, and this is why many shops have went away, but the history is unbelievable, love the stories, God bless
