New merch www.amfilmfest.com/marketplace?Collection=Four+Speed Did a little interview on my Uncle and had a blast! This video took me about 60 hours to complete haha! Subscribe for more content🏁
Legend. He really gets it too, I like what he said about the Mustangs and Camaros, and the old Fords turning into a wealthy man thing. It really goes a long way to have a person from the older generation respect how and why the younger hot rudders are doing what they do.
I too am blown away Ive followed Ed Roth since i was a kid and wish I had been involved as these guys were Am now in LA and have worked on hot rods, more muscle type but older all my life am so glad i found this video thanks for the effort in making it its very very cool mike d....
What a great video !! Mr. Williams' fame precedes him, and the people he worked with and for are a who's who of hot rod history. Thanks so much for producing this wonderful historical review.
Stumbled upon your channel because of my love of hot rods and Robert Williams and I must say that I am so impressed by the quality of the films and the editing! Fantastic. So cool to see young people keep the torch burning!
Been following 4SF for a while and every episode is really amazing piece of work. Love how the story is told.. Love to see that the young generation is getting into old cars and knowing the history of the cars. As long as 4SF is cranking out episodes I'll be watching and supporting..
Just now seeing this video, my grandfather was an old hot rod guy and left me a whole collection of petroleum/car related memorabilia. I have whole garage full of those cool early hot rod magazines with the cover art by this guy. What a great story he has! His video has restored the love for classic automobile history for me!
Robt Williams is the reason I became a Hot Rod artist....I have his books etc and quite often watch the film that came out about him a few years back but I have to say this film came across as way way more natural....Great piece of work Ben...Can we have a film on Mr Weesner and his art next...
This is one of the coolest videos you have made. All the contacts you have to old hot roders makes me jealous. Keep up the good work. Your content is some of the best on TH-cam. 🤙
My FAVORITE Automotive ARTIST of ALL times! At 53 His posters are my most prized posters, that over the years have gone from my bedroom walls in High School, to my barracks in the USMSC to my garage walls now! Thank you SIR! You are a LEGEND!
Great video , Robert Williams (aka Bondo Bob) and l are orignal rickshaw members along with Jerry Weeks what a great time and I'm still in it with a 27 hemi powered roadster pu
I love what you have been doing but this is by far the best yet. The stories, pictures and interviews. It all jives together in the right way. If it was 4hrs long I would be glued.
Nicely made video, and Robert Williams is a pioneer of the low brow artists, but I recently did some extensive research on the Rat Rod subject. In 1993 one of the members of the Shifters used the term Rat Rod, and it is in print. Baskerville's article didn't come out until 5 years later. A lot of people owned primered cars in the 1970's and 80's while waiting for a paint job. Doesn't mean that their cars were Rat Rods.
Hi Ben, I've followed your films for quite sometime now ,always looking forward to the next .This offering is amazing it's like a come to life issue of The Rodder's Journal devoted to your uncle .Thank you posting... shall continue ...it's tough trying to type when I keep getting caught up listening to your uncle speak . This is as great a thumbs up I can attempt to give you .
What a great documentary short film! He’s your uncle? I remember him in Hot Rod Deluxe insert magazine that featured the Burbank Choppers. I still have it somewhere. The art section had “The Pizz” and a few other cool artists along with Robert. I think he was with his Ford at Bobs Big Boy in the article. Super cool work on the films as always Ben!
Holy One-shot Batman...these 4 Speed Films just keep getting better and better. The next Mad Fabricators Society. Robert is an underground legend. thanks for sharing.
Just a fantastic piece of work by Ben! That was the best cup of coffee ive had in a long time!! Keep up the great work and look forward to seeing more of your videos!!!!!
I have got to tell you I have throughly enjoyed this video as well as several others. I stumbled across your TH-cam channel because of your video of Jack Carrol's 1932 Ford ( I have a 32 for roadster so I am always looking for videos of other guys build to inspire me on my build). Anyhow I watched that video, the one about your grandpa, as well as your dad's garage tour (loved him sharing his collection) and now this one. First off great filming/editing/sound of every one of them. But really made my jaw hit the floor (in this order) finding out your uncle is Robert Williams, your dad worked on Rod & Custom magazine for years and he is friends with Keith Wesner as well as here is a young man who continuing this fine automotive tradition within your family. Why these particular moments? Well all of these instances are people who I know and have followed as a illustrator, designer and hot rodder all my life. As well as like you I grew up in a family who are/were big into street rods/hot rods/classic cars. Anyhow great work across the board and keep it up. I will definitely go seek out more of your past videos to watch as I work on my computer for a break.
Your uncle ,I believe was in the video when your Dads car was being built. Lots of good history there .Good video. And it's nice when you can do something for a living that you like .It's like not working .
I forgot about your uncle, thank you for the reminder! I really hope you know how lucky you are to be raised around so much history. It almost feels like you were meant to do this. Your uncle is right about you moving the next generation on vintage car building. I loved the video bud! Your uncle seems like a great guy, I hope he lives forever! Make sure you let him that he is a very important part in all of us people in our vintage car culture. Rat rods rule!
I wish I still had the van issue of CARtoons from when I was a kid. He did a strip with coochie cooty and a deranged doctor ( or something) and the misadventure in their custom van. That and my dad's zap comics warped me at an early age.
Man I remember CARtoons it was great! No one remembers "Unk And Them Varmints" and it was hilarious esp, Munchin' Melvin who was always eating stuff. I'm pretty sure Unk was modeled after Ed Roth.
This just made my evening after a long days work ... Danke! ... Would love to see a 2nd interview about his art or what he says about his well known pictures / thoughts he had while doing or for what? Love his art so much and your videos are amazing! Being creative runs in the family : )

Right?! Ive been saying forever that Ben has talent behind tbe camera and HotRods in his blood! Another great documentary 👍🏁🇺🇸
Also why does this video have dislikes?! Can’t think of any good reason, it’s really really good 👍🏼

Mr Williams is also an artist with words. The way he weaves them with inflection and cadence adds to the legendary tale and photos perfectly!
And Gray Baskerville had a language of his own. No surprise he came up with the term rat rod.
Last Gasp is coming out with a book that collects all Williams writing.

I can see you stepped up your game. Awesome!
💯!! Absolutely loved this video! The two people that gave this a thumb down need to turn in their “car guy” cards.
They are obviously from Mars.
Stumbled upon your channel because of my love of hot rods and Robert Williams and I must say that I am so impressed by the quality of the films and the editing! Fantastic. So cool to see young people keep the torch burning!

“FAST TALKING CALIFORNIA SHYSTER!” Shout out to my man Fast Eddie from San Bernardino!!
What a legend! It was Thrasher magazine that first introduced me to Robert Williams back in the 80s. Fantastic episode - keep up the great work!!!

Lot of history and historical figures in this video. Thanks for documenting it for posterity.

Best yet! Great history right here. Ben, young guys like you and Craig909 are the absolute future of hot rodding. Keep up the great work.
This is a great channel... nice people, nice cars, and some amazing history. These folks are the real deal.

The art section had “The Pizz” and a few other cool artists along with Robert. I think he was with his Ford at Bobs Big Boy in the article. Super cool work on the films as always Ben!
Also, I think The Pizz had a ‘58 Chevy with a built 292 inline 6 featured too in that rag.
Awesome! I have been following Robert’s work for years! Great to see him still creating!
th-cam.com/video/USHmk4ksJaY/w-d-xo.html
