I think this will run very good ;)
Cause Nvenc performance looks great !
NVENC Quality should between X264 fast and medium ! Benchmarks in this video show awesome NVENC POWER ;)
Only 3900x looks better, around 90 fps in X264 in Slow is very good !
Me use 3700X and RTX 2060 normal,i will test next month what happen then i use NVENC NEW ;)

Thank you for this video! I always like keeping myself up to date when it comes to tech and think about what I would upgrade next if I could. Recently, I really considered either a 5700 XT or a 2070 Super but with me wanting to stream, this certainly gave me more clarity towards my choice! It's kind of sad not to see comparable features in AMD's GPU (correct me if I'm wrong please) since it has a much greater value and I like to support the "underdog". But if you want to stream this is just made for you so it will quite probably be my choice!
I was kind of rambling, sorry for that, but I just want to show my appreciation for content like this! Especially when it's this well done!

Ray Of course it dropps FPS, but way less than x264 since it runs on seperate hardware on the GPU.
Your actual GPU wont be impacted much, if at all by it, it does still tax your CPU but way less than x264 since it does not have to do the software rendering. NVENC is also optimized for gamestreaming abd does better on lower bitrates.
Fortnite is no different than any other game with it.
If you have proof for your claims pls link it to me, alway happy to learn new things ^^

Anyone using nvenc on 10 series cards, pascal architecture passes video encoding to system RAM and back to the GPU, this bottlenecks performance. RTX cards which use Turing Ampere architecture keep the encoding on the nvenc chip, no bottle neck. However when using the nvenc settings Psycho tuning and look-ahead the card then shares resources with 3D games, as these features use the cuda cores. So even on an RTX card, take a gpu hungry game which tries to use all of the available resources, currently Days gone is an example, you will see frames skipped due to encoding, forcing you to either cap the fps at 60 or reduce the graphic settings. Abeit there's not many games that run into this issue, it's still worthy of note.

A simple remedy though just capping your Frames to something like 60FPS or 120FPS depending on whether you can hit those frames normally on your card.

This won't be for gaming, but rather for live video production.
At a minimum we want to encode and stream 3 videos from the one PC, encoding using NVENC at 1080p25 each.

Twitch's technology is not designed for anything up to 60 fps as of right now. They're working on 4k60p and 8k60p, aka 4 and 8k resolution at 60 fps progressive scan. They may move to 240 to 360 fps later but that dependent on whether or not they will support x265 for partners and elite streams (aka, if you not a bad ass streamer, forget about it). As a note about x265, it does better with bandwidth at high density of data aka high resolutions, so 8k at 60 fps or faster would become a reality but you need special hardware to transcode this stream because it's hardware intensive and also when downloading and viewing, it's the same way. It's not quite as simple as x264 (or HW accelerated x264 aka NVENC).

    • @GoldenTeeTV
      @GoldenTeeTV 3 ปีที่แล้ว

you can't use the gtx 1080ti with the new NVENC chip because it doesn't have it. the new NVENC (on par with x264 medium compared to x264 ultrafast on older models) is a physical chip that comes with the rtx (turing and higher line) plus the gtx 1660ti and 1660 cards. so if you don't mind x264 ultrafast then by all means use it on the 1080ti otherwise you'll still want to use the cpu and a fast or medium preset.

I have a i9-9900k and a rtx 2070 super and ive been curious if using my cpu while recording/streaming would be a better option than streaming with my rtx card while playing games such as cod (at max settings and at 4k) because while playing that game, it uses almost %100 of my gpu so i am not sure. While writing this I just realized that my rtx card has a encoding processing chip but im not sure, let me know your thoughts.

There have been times where my x264 encoder worked a whole lot better than my GPU encoder, even on the max quality setting 😆(Though to be fair, the last time that happened, I was using a Radeon card Lol) I wonder how it would be different for those people also trying to build their PC as a render farm with more powerful CPUs. So the takeaway is, the more powerful your CPU, the more you can get out of x264 and the more it beats NVENC (in terms of both frames and stream quality I would suppose)

But at some point in the video you said that everything was still fine and dandy even when the GPU was being fully utilized? They must have fixed that on windows 10 recently because in the past when a game was requiring more than 95% of your GPU, OBS because had no GPU resources left, lagged and gave viewers a really choppy experience.

Well, the only reason I buy Nvidia is it has better support for _everything_ . Besides, I know for a fact NVENC slays with transcoding so if I want to turn a 20-30 FPS video to 60, it churns it out in no time.

@@samuelwhite3173 The better VR support and performance is no longer the truth after Navi, now they are on par (look it up at babeltechreviews), Pathing/
Tracing? You mean the hacky path tracing support this first gen has got? Don't get me wrong, for a first try of hardware accelerated ray tracing it ain't bad but its not the second coming and AMD will support it for the new consoles to make it mainstream. Also being the user of a gtx 970 and rx 580 the better drivers are not "much better" like you said, I've encountered some weird ass shit coming from nVidia drivers like green screens, some video outputs not working after upgrading drivers and so on. And don't get me started on the whole 3.5gb thing but still I like the experience the gtx 970 has given me so far.
I'll agree on CUDA and the new NVENC on the RTX cards, the better OGL support (on windows) and integer scaling. And the superior NVENC is the reason I'm going to upgrade to nVidia again on my main rig, but you also forgot to mention some of the advantages AMD has, like OpenCL (worse than CUDA still but useful in some areas), way better linux support and radeon image sharpening that runs with almost no performance penalty on navi. And the fact that you can use all of its features without needing to log in to the shitty geforce experience.
