aaah it's so nice to hear from you here, Michael! I remember your exact exam result actually (you did fabulously - congrats) as you were one of the first to submit! Thank you for your wonderful feedback in the survey. I really appreciate it!
I stumbled across this randomly…I am from the USA and this is certainly not an abnormal way for educated people to express themselves i.e. when as what their daily routine is. It seems flowery and over-the-top, but it isn’t. It course, you certainly don’t have to speak like this to get you’re message across, but it is good to know the vocabulary to invade someone you’re speaking to happens upon using it. Good luck to all language learners. I learnt German and Spanish years ago, so I know the struggle of learning a new language. What advanced me the most was interacting with other German speakers online via chat or, once technology caught up, via webcam and microphone (if you can go to a country that speaks the language you’re learning, that’s the best, but it wasn’t possible for me to do on a regular basis). I also recommend watching and reading ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in the language you’re learning; you’ll progress like mad if you do these two things - and, of course, dedication and time spent at the beginning making sure you understand the phonology and grammar of the language!
My alarm clock feels more like screeching, violent melody of despair pulling me out of what should've been a peaceful slumber. But to each their own 😊😐
I love your videos. I am Brazilian and I'm currently teaching English, so I'm always trying to learn more to pass the knowledge to my students. Thank you for your incredible work.
love this. Such a brilliant way to teach the C1 level. Progressing from B2 to C1 is really challenging. Sometimes I feel stuck and overwhelmed because it's not as easy to see improvement as it was when I went from A2 to B1 or from B1 to B2.
If anyone hesitates to join in Lucy's courses, do not hesitate and take the plunge! I've finished this C1 advanced programme and I can tell you it was such an amazing adventure. It took my English to the next level, and also it was a great fun! Worth every penny.
Aaaaah thank you so much Ewelina! Such kind words! I must say that the C1 Programme is my absolutely favourite due to the story running through the readings and listenings, and the amazing guests I managed to snag for the conversation lessons 😅 I’m really glad you liked it!

This cracked me up in the best way! The way you composed the sentences I envisioned this very snob and posh English Lady, wanting to make sure that everyone listening makes no mistake about just how distinguished and superior she is over everybody else in the room.
I absolute ❤ your c1 videos. It was so easy to reach b2 level and then my English stopped progressing. Watching videos, reading books don't seem to be helping much, even though i'm fluent and i have quite advaced vocabulary. C1 and c2 lessons that I really need. Thanks so much.
There is nothing strange here. It is obviously in every language. There is a writing language and common street language. Her with Lucy, she is perfectly demonstrating the writing language in the best sophisticated presentation. My favorite pod cast on You Tube. Not only Charming, but makes her class mesmerizing. Thank you, Lucy.
The title of this lesson without any doubt should be " I don't want to sound complicated, but I simply could not stop myself from being exactly so ". I really enjoyed this lesson, because I love playing with words, the more, the better. Thanks ever so much.
I've been following your channel for a while, and recently I've decided to join your first course, C1. It's incredibly helpful in improving my understanding of native speakers. I've been living and working in the UK for more than two years, and sometimes I find it challenging to comprehend natives when they use slang or have fast-paced conversations with my colleagues. I've learned a lot from this course, and I appreciate it, Lucy. I'm considering joining your other courses as well.
That’s such amazing feedback! Thank you ❤️✨ I’m so glad you’re having such a good experience! What has been your favourite lesson so far? I must say, the conversation lessons are my favourite!
As a native English speaker, you just blew my mind. I use stuff like "cleft sentences" and "post-modified superlative adjectives" without knowing why I do them or what they're called. Truly fascinating stuff! Another fun thing for me... is since I'm from the US, we'd say it like "No sooner had I *gotten* dressed" which I didn't realize was different from British English. Great video! That's how I really love to use the language. Your very precise and detailed description of the daily routine reminds me of John Cleese's intro when he entered the cheese shop. Remember, he was sitting in a library reading Hugh Walpole's Rogue Herrys and got hungry. After explaining this to the owner, he added: "And I thought to myself, 'a little fermented curd will do the trick', so, I curtailed my Walpoling activites, sallied forth, and infiltrated your place of purveyance to negotiate the vending of some cheesy comestibles!" - So great I can't stop listening to what John Cleese describes. 😇
