    I needed this. My OCD locked onto something innocent but it morphed into the fear I caused severe harm. My brain just couldn't let it go and I wanted to give up on all my goals because I felt I had to be punished even though there was no proof whatsoever that something horrible happened. I knew this but my OCD kept taunting me that I missed something, some clue. It's a battle in your head you can't win. So scary.

    Thanks rob for your content, “real event OCD” is huge in my life and with everything in the media it just exacerbates the the anxiety to level 10. Listening to you though gives me hope

    My OCD used the be chronic for 2 years. I would imagine the worse medical things like bleeding to death or finding out I had the most severest cancer. I would faint over my OCD thoughts. Thank the Lord but it's eased alot now and barely think these things anymore but exposure therapy is what saved me. Now however, I am suffering from ROCD - been with him for 4 months and I have the most overwhelming urge to break up with him because breaking his heart is my biggest fear and I know that breaking up with him would do this.

    I'm dealing with really vivid mental images when I am trying not to engage with any kind of thoughts😔this condition it makes me so anxious because it's like I doubt my perception.Could u do a video about vivid imagination and ocd? Thank you and God bless you! You are really helpful!

    • @hgraphicspro
      @hgraphicspro 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The more you try not to think of, the more they come
      Try exposures, means intentionally think of that images, Yes! intentionally think of that images,
      You will be surprised!, because they will start becoming weaker and weaker, the images lost its power over you.
      The more you are afraid of something, the more it bother us.
      You have have to do the opposite, instead of running away from the images you are scared of, intentionally think that images, it works
      You are then rewiring your brain to not be aftraid of that thing.
      Don't over do, it.
      Approach it little by little, day by day,
      Don't force to recover within some days, recovery takes time😊

      - Read up on OCD and try to deeply understand it (you can follow Rob on ocdrecoveryuk on Instagram)
      - Watch more videos on this channel
      - Do exposures: don't avoid your triggers, go towards them (go for a night out!)
      - Cut out compulsions, reassurance-seeking and confessing
      - Dispute your irrational fears/beliefs
      - Wear an anxiety like an uncomfortable coat along the way
      Plenty of tools and concepts you can apply to start the recovery journey. :)

    Right when I thought I “beat Pure O ocd”, (I was ocd free for two years), it got real dirty on me.
    It gave me a memory of something cringy that I DID when I was an 8 year old child.
    Now I’m being tortured with this memory. This memory sends me into full blown panic attacks. How can I do ERP with a real event ocd?
    I would really appreciate any advice.

      Ahh I’ve overcome something similar. You have to understand you find it uncomfortable now becuase you view the world different. When you were a child you have a different view of the world. You’re always learning and you’re a human who will make mistakes. Every human makes mistakes, there’s no good and bad. It’s those irrational beliefs

      @@Whitb0y7tHsT , I’m feeling a little better now, but the memory still haunts me sometimes. How long did it take for you to recover from this theme?

    • @annecampbell2891
      @annecampbell2891 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Elizabeth, so sorry for your panic. This thing that i now know is ocd has brought up things that happened in my child hood eg a boy at school told me he read that if you think about your saliva it increases. Now thanks to all the lockdowns and fear mongering by those in charge this has started a fear about saliva and blinking and caused depression and anxiety and fear that if i cant forget about these thoughts how can i recover. I do have good days but then it comes on again.

    Good video. I have recently blasphemous thoughts in which they won't let go. The reason for this because my Anafernil wore out and about to use a new prescription of Prozac. Now, I have accepted these thoughts, I feel hurt and guilty on them, but I don't want to kill myself. I don't want to be unforgivable under Jesus Christ. I don't want to live if I don't have Christ. OCD is throwing every evil thoughts at me and is even trying to confuse me.
