    How about using more than one bolt for your ground anchor??

    Giving so much slack in advance is quite bad; a common trick is to use a Micro Traxion installed backwards on the rope in order to create a small cache loop that eliminates the weight of the spare rope, so the Grigri will feed well without the need to manually press the cam with another hand.

    Nice video. I enjoyed watching it.
    One tip -- you are placing some of your quickdraws upside down. The black end with the solid gate is made for the bolt. The blue end with the rubber piece is made for the rope.

    Still no backup knots or devices on belay side of your Gri-Gri??? Looks like your method is applicable for only very easy routes, because you need at least one of your hands to create slack, and sometimes two for you rubber bands...

      Sergey Petrov
      Indeed.. This was a simple demonstration. Self belay safety knots are possible. Rope solo, not so much, because your pulling slack through. Check out my other vids 😃
      Happy climbing!!!

      @@origin32 well, cause of that there is like no safety in this method, grigri is an assisted breaking device not automatic, which means without backup knots there is way bigger chance of falling, in my opinion you should avoid lead climbing on your own and just get a partner with you, of course it's possibol to lead climb solo, i would say top roping solo is way safer and should be the go to thing if you wanna rope climb and don't have a partner, just remember the backup knots

      @@origin32 Safety knots are indeed possible for rope soloing. You tie them at increments in the rope you have stacked at the base of the climb and untie them when you reach them.

      Thanks brother! You pre tie...

    Using the hair ties to keep out slack is genius!
    I am a longhair and have plenty of hair ties.
    You also demonstrated well the chief complaint about grigris.

    Some people still use them, but on a sport lead I find that I actually don’t really need the quickdraws. The rope isn’t doing all that running through like it does on a traditional belay, it’s just sitting there ready to catch so I just use a carabiner straight into the bolt. Saves weight on my rack.

    • @kevinsbacon932
      @kevinsbacon932 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Can the bolt inside the binder with the rope cause a failure? I could see the rope getting pinched on a fall although maybe very unlikely

    • @Papershields001
      @Papershields001 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevinsbacon932 it can. Especially if you drop the biner, that would leave you up there with an untied knot. I use a sling and attach it to the biner that way I can’t drop it. However, that does introduce another risk vector if the sling gets caught up on something. Honestly, I don’t think that there is a perfect way, but for me climbing on a clove is a good way to feel more fundamentally connected to the system. I trust the clove, but you need to know the fundamentals of self rescue if you end up hanging out in space somewhere.

    • @Papershields001
      @Papershields001 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevinsbacon932 also, I usually use a quick link instead of a standard biner because there’s less risk of it coming open.

    • @kevinsbacon932
      @kevinsbacon932 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh i think i misread you original comment, i interpreted it that you were using biners for the bolts on the way up to the anchor, not just at the anchor itself

    Belle démonstration man ! Mais où est le casque , où est le bloqueur ( prusik avec le descendeurs) ????ont fais tous des erreurs en montagnes qui peuvent être fatale pour soi. Mais là tu donne des conseils à d'autre . Bien signaler aussi que le solo c'est pas conseillé.
