- Here's my method for making a gardenia DIY enfleurage. An enfleurage is the extraction of the fragrant essential oil in flowers which is then used to create solid perfume, body lotions, body butter, sugar scrubs, and other DIY skincare products.

Use fractionated coconut oil instead. Its odorless and it’s what we use in perfumery when we want to make roll fragrances. Trust me.
Thanks for the tip!
Fractionated coconut oil is liquid though 🤔
I use a Sunflower Coconut blend that's fantastic 🤌🏻
Hi! Does the oil resolidify while the petals are steeping? If so, do you melt the whole thing again to get liquid, then strain? And repeat? Thank you SO much for this!
I would think a warm water bath (jars in warm water, but not so much that it makes the jars float the tip over), would be best because some fragrances are sensitive to high temperatures. Coconut oil melts at body temp, so some hot water for your tap would be enough.
This is so helpful. I can't wait to give this a go. This video is relaxing, and the peaceful vibe at the end made me smile. Thanks for sharing
What if you leave the petals in the oil for a week? Im using it for a school project and i would have to leave it for a week
I love my gardenia bush! It’s funny that you’re teaching on the same flower. I’m leaving for 3 months, as my daughter is being induced, and I’ll be helping out during recovery. My gardenias are in full bloom, and I wanted something that reminds me of home.
How did it go with your daughter?
You just made my day I’ve been searching none stop for this thank you so much
Nice. Looks like you have made a pomade - do you ever complete the process of extracting the essential oil from the pomade? If so, what is your approach?
Thank you so much. I'm down for complicated tasks but this is very simple. I have some magnolias flowering nonstop atm.
This is so helpful thank you! If I wanted to make this into a perfume spray from this method would I just add denatured alcohol to this??
THANK YOU! Yes and so relaxing I love your style super easy to follow your simple instructions thanks a bunch!
Thank you very much for giving a beautiful video, you have covered the entire subject in a very short time, thank you very much
Wow! That is so not complicated 😃 Thank you for sharing. I think I have all the needed supplies on hand to give it a try.
Have fun!!! ❤️❤️❤️
When do we add the Vitamin E? I have a liquid form I’d like to add (from a bottle) but I don’t know how much. Thank you!
If oils like jojoba, grspwseed oils etc are used...I it still enfleurage?
Can I use it in professional candle?
Hi! New subscriber,love your work.
Could this be done using an alcohol base?
Thank you so very much , Just picked up a bunch of lily of the valley and search far and wide and finally found your channel . I just subsribed. Merci cherie 😇
Please search more information on lilly of the valley. I have just read in a comment on TH-cam that it is poisonous and for that reason it is not used in parfumerie. Just search more info to be sure if it is ok to use these flowers.
@@teonaantonescu7586there are lily of the valley perfumes..
Is that a Tiffany Lamp behind your left shoulder?
What is the name of that strainer you used please
happy to learn new lesson to me . I am inspired to try by myself if you are replay me sharing time . can it work to apply for soap makers /when mixed up at agitation stage / keeps aroma character longer days ? many thanks for nice presentation .
I wonder if it is safe to use fresh flowers when making infused oils and perfumes and things like that?
can it be used to make soap?
Thank you looks lovely can u do the same with alcohol? for perfume
Can you do the same for liquid sweet almond oil? to make a roll on perfume?
Sure, why not? That's a good idea
Can you use castor oil?
thanks so much for showing us this ! how long does this last for once it's completed in solid form?
Coconut oil becomes solid once it is very cold.
I definitely try this🌼
Hi- I am trying to do this but I have bugs on my roses, my gardenias- it seems like there are little bugs on anything I want to use. Do you just go through the process and then strain them? Thanks!
I have this problem too and no video or site talks about it. But, some do mention to let them sit from 30 min to dry out any excess moisture, so I think I'll do that to get rid of the bugs. But, I'm worried that I'll also get counters filled with tiny crawling bugs
After you pick the flowers I’d recommend leaving them to sit for an hour so the bugs inside get the memo it’s not a part of the plant anymore. They naturally crawl out.
You could always try gently washing the flowers as if you're trying to get rid of and dirt from them then let them dry a bit before proceeding with the rest. I don't actually know though as I am just now doing some research into trying to make my own kind of perfume/cologne from sweetgum leaves because I love how they smell when crushed up.
I would wash them off because you don’t want the flower to dry out.
❤ love it love it pupici și eu sunt deja de ceva timp în lumea parfumeriei naturiste a uleiurilor esențiale❤ a naturii ❤
How long does this keep for? Why don't you use Everclear? This definitely looks more like a hand salve.
Can i do this same process with night jamine flowers?
Pretty sure you can
Many thanks - this is exciting!
Thank you
OMG so happy I found you ! My gardenia bush is taking off blooming like crazy ! I was searching what I could do with the flowers and found you ! I am gonna make this starting today !! Thanks so much and I can’t wait for the final product !! ❤
Very nice oil extraction method. Not enfleurage, but nice nonetheless.
how long will it last ? i mean the expiry of the perfume. btw lovely video ❤
So what about essential oil it's so expensive 🤔 this your recepy is good with alcohol?do you test it?
How about with mimosa flowerings
I love gardenia its the best scented flower on the earth
How could I do something like this but with a liquid? Instead of flowers ?
I want to capture the essence of different liquids, like wine for example
If using a liquid oil it would no longer be called enfleurage.
That's ok of course, but they are different methods of extracting the essence of flowers/herbs. If you steep flowers or herbs in oil it would result in an infusion.
You can use fresh or dried plant matter. Steep in a cool, dark place and strain. If desired you can add new plant material and strain again. The time to steep varies. Mountain Rose Herbs has lots of instructions on how to make wonderful things. There is a chart online explaining the various methods - tea, tincture, extract, etc. Wish I could remember where. Sorry.
thanks for the video! what species of gardenia is this?
How long the flower in jar after we give coconut oil?
My extract smells like alcohol help
Does mint have oil I have so much mint in my yard I don't know what to do with it
Hi Ms. Whitney. Where do you think I can get gardenias from if I don't have a gardenia tree? I Love giving these as gifts. I Love this.
Hi Susan! That’s a good question. Maybe a neighbor has some? Grocery store? I wish I could be of more help
Where do you live? You can start your own bush. Are you in a warm climate?
I'm in spring texas.
What do you do with the leftover petals?
Thanks💯
Can I use cocoa butter?
Does the smell of coconut oil affect the final product... I mean, is it gonna smell like coconut and gardenia?
If you get cold pressed coconut oil, yes, it'll smell like coconut mixed with whatever flower you've steeped it with.
You can get non-scented coconut oil
What can we use instead of coconut oil???
any carrier oil
I was wondering if Vitamin E in the small capsules don't become spoiled or rancid. I see my container of Vit E says that they may expire soon and I wonder how the oil in the mixture stays fresh. Also, the coconut oil when it sits for too long, can also become rancid. Is there another way of preserving the oil? Can it be kept in the fridge to keep it fresher? Can you recommend a way to strain the flowers without having to have hands and possible germs or bacteria or even natural oils from hands possibly adulterating the oil that was just strained? Do you really think that 12 hours is enough to get the smell out or what would happen if we kept it longer?
I'd recommend using gloves if you're concerned about your hands contaminating the oil 😊
In the US everything has an expiration so that we have the maximum freshness faster it moves faster . The majority of products on the shelves do not spoil or become inedible, even though most medications are still good after their expiration date for a period of time most of them are not harmful they just lose potency potency. Vitamin e is a preservative. So in this case it doesn't matter.
Can I do with peonies?
You can do with just about any flower that you enjoy. Some other flowers like jasmine are fragile and do better with no heat. If you look up enfleurage theres a bunch of videos
Where do you store then after you bottle them
Cool place where sun won't touch them
so the oil hardens and you have a butter or salve?
Yes, if kept in cooler temps. It will be stiffer if you whip it in the blender and mix in some natural aloe
Beautiful
Super 👍👍👍👍👍😻😻😻😻😻
Thank you 😸
How to care this gardinia plant
I really don’t like coconut and vanilla smell what else can I use instead of coconut oil. Please rely ❤
