The main problem from developer point of view is that the progression was too fast. And since this game has no late game. They decide to do the most obvious mistake of making it grindier so it will slow down people progression. But forgetting that many other games tried that and lost their player base. But sadly companies doesn't like to learn from oeach others mistakes.
The beach was broken with groups because you could force spawn new oysters everytime you collect all of them. Now its bugged and we get none lmao. I agree that they nerfed the flowers and animals too much. It feels lifeless now.
Ah, I guess that explains why they nerfed it in the first place. I feel like a much better fix here (that also would've helped with Sernuks) would've been to simply slightly decrease the spawn rate bonus for having many people around.
Why reduce the amount of items found in the world when this is a multiplayer game? Others can take that item, making less likely for yourself to find? And the trade system is abysmal as well
I was super excited for Palia and cannot express how disappointed I am with it. Rather than feeling like a "cozy" fantasy game, the game is nothing but a money grind. This can be seen by any time someone comes up with a way to make a small amount of money the devs nerf it (like the value of cernux) or remove them (oysters). Today was the first time I've played the game in a week because it is the opposite of fun. Free game or not, if they don't address the money grind many of the people trying the game will simply stop playing.
I was quite hopeful for this game but now I have a bad feeling about the direction everything is going, the clearly bad changes on this patch, the highly requested pet feature being already a paywall exclusive, the addition of even more cash shop ítens than actual content, and the worst part and what actually concerns, i believe most people, is the way they are dealing with the criticism.
I had a good feeling with the persistant mmo idea. I started (beta). I don't like the "artistic" direction. The way they run, the clown faces... so ugly. I cant play such a game.
I agree, it's become very unbalanced now. I spent an hour hunting for 1 shell to gift to the librarian today, no exaggeration. If I can't find the things I need to do the quests (and NPC gifting), and to make the stuff I want, then there's no reason to play.
I am absolutely stuck on palium. I have yet to find enough to even craft a single bar. It makes me wish I was on a server with no other people. That is not good for this kind of game. They need to do like Guild Wars 2 and make resource nodes instanced for every player so we don't have to compete from them. As it stands I don't think I will be able to progress until interest in this game dies off.
they said on discord oysters aren't spawning due to a bug. but still i think some of the nerfs were too harsh. especially the forage and bugs in kilima
That's good to know, thanks! Unfortunately, even if the oyster spawn rate was normal, the farm would likely still be very tedious, considering the amount of corals I got in 10 minutes. Imo the old spawn rate was completely fine, it wasn't like the sernuks that almost instantly respawned.
I really feel they lack a real Community Manager. Who collects all Feedback, filters it to get the right input to get to the dev team and then get things done. It feels like its just a dump of feedback now which they sometimes scroll through and are like: what ever, we will just role with something. They should really put someone dedicated on this, make polls etc show that they really listen and adjust things or come with an approriate answer why they took another path then what the community wants.
Great discussion, it is very important seeing the philosophy the team has when making changes. This isn't a good start, so I hope they get better and moreso align with what the players want!
Compound the Foraging Nerf with the revelation that many unsanctioned Gold Farmers have discovered there is no Anti-Hack security, and most of the major game setting are Client Side, meaning that Hackers have discovered how to move in "God Mode" underground, through water and air, teleport directly to foraging and mining nodes such as Palium and Flow trees. They started hoarding end game resources and are advertising to sale of such resources for real currency. There is also the Home plot hack that gives you access to other player homes where you can steal their stuff. Since Open Beta this game has become a Fuster Cluck of bad game design, and the big lie that this is a MMO. This is a single player game with random players that you have difficulty communicating with. The Server is laggy because of the constant logging in and out server jumping hack to find resource nodes. This game is not ready for Beta Testing.
I'm suprised not many people talking about the color difference after the patch. It's a bit less saturated and feels off (not too much) but definitely noticeable, at least to me and couple of others, from before the patch.
I don't understand the resource density nerfs. Bug catching was already not worth doing for the most part. Foraging wasnt really a problem either. Im a loot goblin, so I was picking up all flowers and mushrooms and I even had to sell like half my stock for space. Im happy about iron though. I have a ton of it now. I also dont understand why the tier 2 sernuks havent been buffed either in terms of loot or easier to kill or something. If they had more loot I think most people would just start hunting them instead of hunting the t1 down to extinction. Or idk, make bug hunting more profitable.
Yeah, absolutely. I definitely think they can turn this around if they actually pay attention to the feedback. We'll see what they do in the next patches!
Term beta in MMo genre has no value. The moment MMORPG lunches in open beta, its literally a release. There are games that stay in beta state for years and some that never reach full release. While the term beta in software development is a state of a product that still needs work and is a standard phase of development lifecycle. Therefore a real beta should have short time period and not be concidered a purchasable state of a game.
I get why they doing this. There was times I go out to farm something and I go home with half empty inventory, and other times I don't know what to drop to pick up resources. But real problem is not the amount of spawn point, it's spawn rate of materials. If you go to mine some copper, and there was another player like less than 5 minutes before you, good lick to find even one copper node. Same goes for every other resource. And with sernuk farm area, it's not that there's a lot of them, but problem is that while you hunting one, another already respawned. To be honest, it was the only place in whole game where I seen something spawn with my own eyes. Personaly I think it would be cool if there was a lot of spawn points for sernuk, but they spawn only once in 10 minutes. So you can stumble on family of like 10 sernuk, but when you hunt them all, that's it. Wait for 10 minutes, or go do some another activity. Same with foragables. Instead of making it "balanced" across all map, beter make some specific locations where can spawn 3-7 items at once, but they have spawn rate of 10-15 minutes. All in all, depending on other players, you either have all items, or nothing at all, and that's the problem.
Well, if people just chop down the magical trees but not the normal ones, no wonder the magical ones won't respawn ... respawn's random so the more normal trees you chop down, the better the chances of a magical tree spawning in one of those locations. Same with Palium ore.
My TH-cam feed has been packed with "Best tryhard goldfarm routes in Palia!" And they all involved stripmining the beaches for pearls, shells, coral, and bugs. Every time I went there to find something it was crawling with farmers. It's funny how you mention nobody was complaining about there being too much stuff on the beaches. You're right. Nobody was complaining about it, but there was so much stuff that it was the go to goldfarm spot. Now, the only reason to go there is if you have a quest for the stuff that spawns there.
The only gold farm guide that focused on the beach that I've seen so far said they got around 5k gold/hour farming the beach. That's about as much as you'd be making spending the entire hour fishing with normal worms (not glow worms). So it's really not a lot. There are/were multiple farming methods that allow you to make twice as much and with group baking you can probably make 10+ times as much. Sernuk farm alone was 12k+ and that's where most people were farming on the servers I was on. It's possible that other people found more efficient ways to farm the beach, @1kulik mentioned that crowding the beach causes resources to spawn quicker. But I still can't imagine it being entirely out of proportion compared to other methods, considering you'd have to get super lucky with pearls.
I agree completely with your thoughts on all of this. Making things less abundant is a really bad choice, honestly just making the game harder and making it so that fighting for resources is more of a problem. This update is not an improvement with the game, its a MAJOR downgrade.
You don't have to fight for resources, though? - Metals, clay, wood, animals, you can share with other players simply by not being greedy but letting them hit the same node, tree, animal as you just once. You'll both get the loot. - Plants will still be there for you to pick even if someone else picks them, too. Y'all folks need to learn how to cooperate. Those mechanics are there for a reason. No need to hog stuff, just let other people get a hit in, too.
Currently the game has felt "unplayable" (technically it's not, but it is really annoying) to me ever since the patch caused a new UI bug that disables arrow keys until you click on something anytime you open a menu/inventory/etc. I'm hoping it gets resolved in the next hotfix. If not then I guess I won't be coming back for awhile ;; I am a little concerned about the nerfs though. The manor estate one definitely felt like an exploit so I can get that, but I wasn't aware how much everything else had been reduced too. Especially with how much of a gold sink everything is (I keep getting npcs telling me I have even more upgrades so much faster than I can afford them). This game had a really promising start but I guess I am getting a bit more disillusioned or unsure where it might go.
Hey, I've got a great idea. Now that people are pouring into the severs and swarming the maps, let's nerf the main money makers. Sounds totally logical.
The fact they didn't do anything interesting with the pets (they're just cosmetic "follower npcs") is also a bit discouraging. If anything, I'd suggest taking a break from the game for a few months/years. Give the devs time to get out of beta perhaps. I say this as someone that's already uninstalled the game at Lv78. Palia was a fun distraction but there simply isn't any real content in the game other than grinding gold or furnishing a house no one else is gonna see. (Palia at this moment is essentially an unrewarding 2nd job that the devs are intent on making harder)
Why does chat have to reset every time you change from house to world. Especially when im having a convo with a friend. Why cant it be like any other mmo
That explains the stinky item I found in a chest. All of a sudden - every NPC I talked to had an additional question choice - asking them if the item belonged to them. Turned out it belonged to the chef, he was trying to simulate the centruy egg recipe that someone else was selling in some other town or something....
Nerfing the beach spawns really sucks, but I am glad they upped the clay spawns, because I was beginning to wonder if clay even existed. I had to look up what they were supposed to look like to make sure that I wasn't missing them. It was bad luck timing I guess.
Personally, i like slower progression, too many people want to rush to endgame on everything now. I hope they add a bunch of fun things that involve groups or competition between players
I literally spent a full Palia day trying to find oysters and never got a single one!!! These are needed for quests so not sure why they nerfed it so bad....
This patch was overall just horrible, their priorities are really misplaced. Some really odd changes were added, yet they didn't take the time to fix, what seems to be really simple bugs, like quests not being able to complete. And considering the spawn rate of the rare materials, that is just straight up a joke at this point! I spend almost 5 hours IRL roaming around Bahari Bay, and I managed to find 1 Flow Infused Tree, 2 Palium nodes, 1 Heartdrop Lilly, and 0 Dari Cloves. I didn't look for Oisters, because luckily I have a bunch of pearls saved up from before this patch. How is this spawn rate considered acceptable in what is suposed to be a cozy game?? A single piece of furniture requires 6 Palium bars and 45 Flow Infused Planks! How many hours do I need to play this game to make this sh*t?? They added the functionality of rotating your camera when in building mode?? Wow, that's amazing. How about adding some sort of filter to your workbench ui instead, something that would actually benefit everyone, ALL THE TIME! They upgraded the ui for the modification bench instead, which I'm quite confident that only a small percentage of players actually use anyways. New furniture! Great! Oh wait, the only way to get it, is a rare drop chance, ones every 24 hours?? How about adding something to craft instead for those who enjoys that aspect of the game, instead of randomly giving it to players, which by looks of it, mostly don't give a sh*t about their house and decor anyways because of the way the housing works? The new added quest to "continue" the story when you pick your Shepp is a joke aswell. This should have been in the game when the beta launched, and honestly, if it wasnt ready at that point, I think they should have proponed the release until it was. Getting your Shepp prior to this patch was such an anticlimax (Like the bundles, so don't get me startd on that), and adding, what is basically just a cutscene, is not "continuing the story", it's ending it. So stupid. New found item quests... how great! I need to randomly farm sh*t to hope to find more quests? How come? Oh, to force me to play more, got you! Ain't happening, I'll just wait for someone else to find them, and read te guide online. ....yes, I'm pissed at this patch, but I think there is reason to be! I can honestly mention 2 good things about this patch, and that's it. The EXP adjustments for fishing and foraging (Although it doesn't affect me, because I'm well on my way to level 20 in all skills), and the changes to smoke bombs. That's it! That's all I have. If I have to stretch it, then the jumping right after looting something to avoid standing still to pick it up is kinda nice, but you were able to do that before as well, you just hat to click one additional button for it to work, so yeah.
I will admit that I thought there was way too much coral and shells. I’m sure they have access to the analytics and can see how much that is gathered. These are just fine tuning issues, and nothing for people to overreact about. They have a good track record of listening to feedback and making positive changes.
I assume the fish from the human times is the ancient fish, a new epic fish that gets added to the Kilima Lakes spawn pool after you complete the vault bundles.
I could see casual players being rather upset about the nerfs cause I still look at this game as a much more casual MMO not something you grind 4+ hours in at a time, also with people getting to end game so quickly I mean yea people are grinding this game hard and blasting through it. But at the same time this game has been in development for 2 years so to have this much gameplay is pretty nice, a lot of AAA games take 4-6 years and have 10-100 hours of gameplay (plus they cost 60$+). I probably have around 40 hours of game time in Palia and not finished with the main questline but I also enjoy just skilling.
I agree with everything in the video, the beach farm was my absolute favorite thing to do! It never felt over powered considering the money would be gone in seconds while trying to update my tools and house. No reason to nerf the resources for people to collect when the crafting and cooking UI is still a nightmare to use and the trading system is useless.
I spent 3 game days in the game and didn't see any oysters but have the quest to get pearls. I have requested a pearl for the week, but I guess no one has any.
Tried for an hour last night. Zero oysters. Definitely messed that up. I agree with all your points. I love foraging, it's super boring and annoying now. Garlic is much harder to find. Did ok on Gloomshrooms and Dari Cloves. Found a couple heat root. So..still a loss.
Devs have a really twisted definition of Quality of Life changes...Gathering forgeables has become a no go completely for me. I feel as though its a complete waste of time now. The only thing keeping me logging in right now is fishing, and even then I have to lower my monitor brightness to 0 just so I don't get a headache while gaming. Debating just uninstalling honestly if this eerie radio silence from devs continues and the blatant ignoring of these crappy 'quality of life' changes they've done. I agree wholeheartedly with this video, it sucks I'm not the only one saddened by how stressful and uncomfy this game suddenly became overnight. Hopefully it'll change :(
It feels like they're doing their best to push people to buy cosmetics- the last update both added another incentive to spend money on the Cash Shop AND made the game more grindy- meaning players will have to spend more time in-game, looking at other players running around in cosmetics, while S6 adds more monetized stuff, in hopes it'll push others to also spend. I know it's a business, but it feels like they're making the experience worse to push sales.
I really agree with you. I am happy with some changes, like increased iron, but reducing flowers and bugs is a mistake. I would have liked more than one quest line added too. Without quests the game will die. I know they are adding events, so let's hope that injects more fun into the game. I do enjoy it, but am starting to worry they are taking the game in a direction that will switch players off, which would be a shame. Hopefully they can address the issues fast and are listening to player feedback 🤞.
i had somebody invade my home plot and i have nobody on friends list and just dropped a house and all kind of crap all over my yard, i have no clue how to get rid of it or even restart
About the game in general I really dont like that all tools after upgraded if "broken" they actually downgrade all the way to the first grade, why not just make them unusable?
since this game is free it will eventually turn into a pay to play. This is not a guess...it a certainty. You cannot continue to pay developers on cosmetics alone. Resources will get nerfed...requested features will be moved into premium shops...it's just how this works.
I had high hopes for this game but sadly I'm beginning to think it's just going to turn into a 'squeeze as much rl money out of them as we can' kinda game. Seeing how focused on that the game already is doesn't fill me with hope for the future.
I was already skeptical with the cash shop and their pricing model. They want for the whale model instead of the wallmart model. Also the needless time sink insert to get level 4 friendship seemed sus like they were trying to hide they didn't have more quest after that. My point being they aren't being very honest and upfront and that can be very concerning. HECK I saw one YT'er got a strike on their channel simply by making a video showing the content that they already released to everyone. Yea yea you needed to know how to run another program to see the media, but it was there downloaded on your computer. It just seems like they are almost trying to hurt their chances at being really great. I just hope I am over reacting/reading more then there is on this. I do what them to succeed. Anyways I'm still watching and enjoying what I can while I can.
Aaaw I didn;t know that the main quest line ended now that I've done the acceptance quest.. I need more! (Luckly I'm still not very good friends with the other peeps)
I don't like the decreases, I can't get ANYTHING now. If anything they need to actually add mine node to the mines, those are always empty. and thats the only thing I've been complaining about.
@@Im_Iconic-Youre_Ironic beta. They are still in open beta which is them saying the game is still being completed. The open beta phase helps them refine systems and fix bugs
y'know... ive been playing this game for 2 weeks now and i have not found a single heat root. I feel like they should up the amount of heat root we get. I get that its rare but like ive found hundreds of rare fish and rare insects... so can i pls find a freakin heat root?????
I would keep in mind that this is open beta still and that there are a great many shuffles and changes that will be made. I would say at least they are paying attention and making regular efforts at finding a balance. This was probably an over correct and twill likely bounce back towards where it shifted from before long.
nerf the prices, make a system for money sinking. nerfing the resources makes me not having fun honestly. i dont really care about gold, i want to farm my resources. i dont find its fun to wandering to around and getting less than it should.
u guys just want something to talk shit abt, this game is in beta testing they are testing stuff and know about some issues (like the oysters), stop trying to criticize everything

absolutly agree, i had so much hope for palia but right now it's just a running/grinding simulator. very sad.

It's a free game. They need to make money somehow. Just don't buy it. I don't understand how having to pay for cosmetics can ruin a game.

Thank god they are saying they know its a bug, cuz, blocking all player out from 8+ quest is just insane, hopefully they fix it asap.
They are targeting the fix for the morning of Aug 18, along with some other fixes.
No oysters is a confirmed bug though :)
Totally agree with your findings. Love the game, but this kind of stuff decreased the fun a lot.

Palia was a fun distraction but there simply isn't any real content in the game other than grinding gold or furnishing a house no one else is gonna see. (Palia at this moment is essentially an unrewarding 2nd job that the devs are intent on making harder)
Clay is required for a lot of furrnitures, and I had trouble farming it because there weren't enough so I'm glad they actually changed it :)
Why does chat have to reset every time you change from house to world. Especially when im having a convo with a friend. Why cant it be like any other mmo
They nerfed the fun already, I have plenty of other games to play. It was a nice idea
On my server there were always enough like Sloth said. Mostly I found them in the evening while hunting or through the night foraging.
Personally, i like slower progression, too many people want to rush to endgame on everything now. I hope they add a bunch of fun things that involve groups or competition between players
Definitely not competition.
I literally spent a full Palia day trying to find oysters and never got a single one!!! These are needed for quests so not sure why they nerfed it so bad....
Same
I found a grocery list and now I have a recipe for macaron after doing a quick few quests.
They messed up the controllers
I found an ancient macaroon recipe that starts a quest, looked like a pile of sand. I also got the Valley sunrise bed
I probably have around 40 hours of game time in Palia and not finished with the main questline but I also enjoy just skilling.
why they decreased bahari bay spawns for shells and foliage.. is kinda silly.
I agree with everything in the video, the beach farm was my absolute favorite thing to do! It never felt over powered considering the money would be gone in seconds while trying to update my tools and house. No reason to nerf the resources for people to collect when the crafting and cooking UI is still a nightmare to use and the trading system is useless.
silver ore and gold are really hard to find. iron ore not enough rocks that have em
@@kacykloud999 i have 2 gold ore's now.....all my silver ore's are bars and sold. :(
Yesterday I gather over 100 shells and not one oyster.
They also broke the serviceable controller support that they had. What were these devs thinking? The games kinda trash now.
I was so disappointed to see my controller no longer worked. Idk but i sure hope the devs fix it soon.
I spent 3 game days in the game and didn't see any oysters but have the quest to get pearls. I have requested a pearl for the week, but I guess no one has any.
Oyster where disabled for a short time cause of a bug btw. i heared that they are now in the game again. but yes the animals are overdone.
It seems like they making ways to keep players playing, in an artificial way.
I keep hoping they change some of the cooking. I play alone (no friends), so can't cook most of the recipes.
They seem to do everything they can to screw you over. Instead of just letting you have fun playing the game . Total insanity
.
Personally i only seen Dari cloves in the forest, you can also find sweatleafs and heatroots in the forest ^^
Thanks. :) I have a question. What keyboards command do you use to open the oysters and balls?
right click on mouse is standard option
i had somebody invade my home plot and i have nobody on friends list and just dropped a house and all kind of crap all over my yard, i have no clue how to get rid of it or even restart
Did you try relogging? That usually fixes it for me. It's not that they dropped or invaded you at all; your lots just both rezzed in the same "space".
Does anyone know what they update today?
I also noticed that my focus bar is draining so much faster now..
I don't like the decreases, I can't get ANYTHING now. If anything they need to actually add mine node to the mines, those are always empty. and thats the only thing I've been complaining about.
It's a beta. It's a bit premature to go hard on the critical feedback imo.
It's a released game to the public.
@@Im_Iconic-Youre_Ironic beta. They are still in open beta which is them saying the game is still being completed. The open beta phase helps them refine systems and fix bugs
@@MAUL0r1
Beta is just a fancier term for a game that's filled with bugs. Actual beta games haven't been in development for 2+ years.
@@MAUL0r1
If you sugar-coat any feedback, how else is the game supposed to know how severe the bugs are, and what the fandom feels??
y'know... ive been playing this game for 2 weeks now and i have not found a single heat root.
I could NEVER find clay, oysters, shells and stuff like that 🤷🏻♀️
Makes me kinda sad. I just started playing, I feel like everyone is super rich, has everything and I am having a hard time making a dime. feelsbadman
I think the problem a lot of people are facing is playing this game all day. Its clearly designed to play a couple hours a day.
Clearly not.
Well now you see the difference between the free players and the buy players
I was expecting a quest for the animals and now we need to buy them
I loved that game before the update and after... well there is more funnier and released game then palia at the moment
nerf the prices, make a system for money sinking. nerfing the resources makes me not having fun honestly. i dont really care about gold, i want to farm my resources. i dont find its fun to wandering to around and getting less than it should.
They had a bug with oesters. They know the issue.
i found a broken cell phone for quest item but didnt fire up any quest so i just kept it in my chest at home
I think there are requirements that need to be met before quest is triggered. It’s not a auto start one on finding.
beach was my top money maker ._. (aside from crops) and i don't know why but after patch my game has been really choppy n stuttery
Rather than make grouping more profitable they made solo less profitable... sad decision imo
From NW to Palia eh? i kept telling everyone NW is a trap
Just what I wanted. More grind 😐
I totally agree with you in this
Was last night lol not today
Based and True! Lead Us!
Not the oysters 🦪
I understand your rant but you are mad about nerfing stuff that were op and after 2 weeks of beta people are already in end game stage.
I always get triggered by your bug catching clips because you are wasting too much smoke bombs but hey, it is your bombs so :D
u guys just want something to talk shit abt, this game is in beta testing they are testing stuff and know about some issues (like the oysters), stop trying to criticize everything
The games technically fully released.
@@Im_Iconic-Youre_Ironic it has been 2 weeks, a lot of improvements have been made, open beta is not the same as full release tho
I'd say the changes are fine! 20 ish k per hour is too much.. and that was what you got from farming shells and what not..
It's a waste of time running around and around a little frustrated
Make your video better by correcting your rant about oysters. It's a bug they are working on. At least update your video to indicate this fact.
THANKS FOR LESS BUGS AND FORAGE PALIA YOU'VE RUINED THE GAME FOR ME GUESS I HAVE NO MORE REASON TO PLAY CYA
