I'm 63 and still feel very youthful,,my advice is to keep everything simple, clothes, hair and makeup,,use what's looks good on you,I'm short so I like my straight cuts and plain colours,,I find florals don't suit me and makes me even shorter,so know your your style and what makes you look elegant
Exactly! I'll be 63 in a couple weeks 11:48 and I feel youthful and I have my same energy I've always had and I'm grateful to my Creator every single day. My style is much like yours, simple, good fabric, a good watch, I tend towards monochrome then simple elegant type jewelry. One thing that will stand out, a good matching handbag, never let my shoes get dirty, make up simple. But I don't wear typical old lady clothes but I don't dress too young, just youthful and fresh. Fashion is my hobby, I have a blast. I don't know what I'm going to do when my body ages, it hasn't really yet and I don't know how much longer this will last. So I'm so very grateful for today💖🌼🌺🥰
I'm 65. That being said, I think I've always followed these rules - because - my 92 year old mother shows how beautifully dressed women can be! I'm SO lucky!!!
Cropped pants can work, though. This would be a length shorter than slacks but not as short as Capri which cuts one in half. Crop length is set at the widest part of the calf of the leg.
Capris? No thank you. As a 68 yr old woman I would rather wear a great sundress or bermudas . I also disagree with a bold earring as being faux pas.Sometimes it’s a great way to create a polished look with a basic outfit. We older women need to find our own graceful style without bringing back capris.
You are right .... But earrings aren't a problem .... Just make sure that if your ear hole has stretched it is a style which covers the hope ..... Otherwise my own personal rule is to eliminate a statement necklace if you are wearing statement earrings
Frankly, I don't want to look anything like the women presented here. Most recommended outfits look outdated and not very stylish. And then capris... Thanks, but no thanks.
Are you really comparing Meryl Streep's expensive clothes style to the rest of us who live under $30,000 per year. Goldie Hawn ruined her face with plastic surgery. Nobody should wear shorts or Capri except. teenagers.
I can wear short shorts. I'm tall, thin, in shape and 62 years old. I also use firming cream on my thighs and it clears up what cellulite I do have. They look better on me than Bermudas. I get away with it and I'm thankful. Short shifts also🥰
When one is over 60, it s like society wants you to look like 60. Grey hair, no make up, clothes one doesn t want to be seen death in. No way. 60 is the new 40 and I sure dress and take care of myxelf like I am 40.
😂… every TH-cam channel has different advice for older women…. Actually everything depends what kind of lifestyle you have, what figure you have… overall how you look… some things don’t work on some people and some do … I disagree with half of your statements…
Liked the music most of all. As an over 80 year old plagued by arthritis it is comfort and comfort only. So long as I can walk and drive, as the late Rhett Butler said, “I don’t give a damn, my dear”.
This is a weird video. The images show women who are doing what? The right or the wrong thing? DIfficult to tell. Also, some of these ideas are in themselves outdated!
Interesting that you suggest capris. I'm a fan, but the picture of lots of women together in capris and printed tops does not show them (or the women) to good advantage. I would never wear mine with one of those "old lady" print tops and especially if it's not tucked in. I wear mine with tucked in blouses or tops or my 'oh my gauze' blouse with a deep vee front and back. Sometimes I wear them with a tank or tee (tucked in) and a print (checked or striped) shirt open over them.
Listen I'm gonna just say it .. this getting old thing is for the birds! I want to be 16 again! My face is falling and won't get up. I'm not falling down yet but I am bouncing off walls tho😮😂 I'm only getting dressed these days to visit doctors 😅 😅 Good times 😉
Exactly! I was gonna say the same thing! I think fitted capris, or stretch legging capris are pretty - unless you wear them with the legs wide. Then, I guess wide leg ones would look bad (and those would be considered "clam diggers" wouldn't they!??
Im 67, slim and love bright colours . No black or dull colours for me. Plus, I cant afford actress's outfits. Wear comfortable shoes which aid balance and posture. Make yourself happy.
This is the stupidest list of no-nos I've seen. Capris and Bermuda short are stylish? Wear small earrings but wear statement pieces? Really? Wear whatever you makes you feel good.
agree!! It's only myself who can make myself confident and comfy with what I wear! I'll be 67 but still wear shorts! my legs are still firm and flawless LOL
While I agree that too short shorts are not to be worn by older women, capris are an ABSOLUTE NO! If you want to look like your legs and you for that matter are short and fat then wear those horrible capris! Nothing will make one look older and fatter than a pair of capris.
Anything shorter than capris make my fat lipedema legs look even fatter. But wearing pants in +30 weather are too hot and dresses are out! Think about body types!!! When you are tall and slim you are very fortunate to be able wear anything.
Only if you're under 60. Past 60 your knees are shot. Cover them up if you don't want to prove to everybody you're a granny. Saggy knees do not look "younger."
Thanks for all the advice and opinions ladies, even if we will not always follow it all. I will say that plump people rarely have wrinkles, not everyone is the size 10, but as long as we smile with our eyes as well as our lips nobody will notice. Especially if one tells the person we meet how well they are looking. Best and most economical way to be happy, smiling and chatting to everybody.
Shorts on us older gals? No. Short people in capris? Definetly no. Sox witn gym shoes and capris? So bad. Tees that are too big with vee neck? Bra straps show. A pair of loud print yoga pants and not wearing a shirt that covers your butt? The worst. So that leaves us no stylish clothes at all!!

You’ve mentioned mostly famous celebrity women on this video, who all have private dressers, make up artists, etc to make them look good. I prefer doing my own things…myself 🌹
I don’t know why younger people think older people need to look younger and think they have the authority to tell us oldsters how to dress. I don’t know why I watch these types of videos. @@eleanorebenjamin9505 Meh. I'm 76, wear t-shirts and leggings - including Capri leggings. I live in capris all summer. I'd wear shorts, but have really bad knees, LOL. I wear wild prints and crazy jewelry. And yeah, slogan t's as well. And I'm a size 18, so probably break every rule in the book. All my shoes are flats or have a very low heel. I am not risking a fall to be stylish in heels. I guess my fashion style is pretty bohemian, and I think I rock it. Don't give a fig what anyone else thinks.
Agree with everything. Keep your look simple but classy. I wear either Bermudas or pants depending on weather. I build my wardrobe around black, white and khaki. Simple jewelry and stay away from too much bling!
At 70, I wear simple sun dresses most of the time, so comfortable. I add a pretty blouse for shopping trips. Chair yoga has firmed my arms up. I like warm muted colors. I dislike bermuda shorts and capris. I have denim skirts and jeans. Essentially I still wear my redhead colors but my hair is white. My favorite is a newsboy cap in the caramel copper my hair used to be, and my short hair curls around the edges. I live in the windy mountains and it keeps my hair controlled.
Some of this advice is very “stick in the mud “ in my opinion and I agree with those who point out the unfairness of asking us to live up to the style of millionaires. Those of us who still care about style pretty much know what we like to look like and should have fun with it. I go shopping at thrift stores and enjoy having lots of choices that I can afford. I like picking colors that liven me up but I keep the cut of my clothes simple. If I spend money it’s on my shoes because they have to be comfy and cute. No pants that cut me right in the middle of my calf’s thank you. And no tunics or crazy florals or patterns running along the bottom - ugh. Agree with the natural look in make up and nice fitting underwear 😊
I’m not buying her suggestions.. Capris! No thank you! Color is great and by now you should know how to dress yourself! Wear what makes you comfortable inside and outside.
I live in Florida. Capris or loose above-the-ankle pants on over 65 women are the way to go. Long pants in the heat make you look like you just got off work and nobody over 60 has the leg skin and knees for shorts anymore. Dresses always work though.
@@JoaninFlorida a great pair on linen pants work well, too. I am 67 and know exactly what you’re talking about in reference to leg skin and baggy knees…and I have too much cellulite on my thighs,as well!
Bermuda shorts Linen wide leg pants Ear rings Sometimes a necklace Sometimes a bracelet Summertime I prefer some kind of shell for my bracelet and necklace
As we age, it’s important to make sure your earring coves you earlobes ( earlobes grow in size as we age) and the crease between the ear lobe and your face. Great earring can make your ears look smaller as the eye is distracted by your earring and not your ageing ears.
I'm 67 (but young looking), 5ft, 135lbs, not fat but with a belly. Tight clothes look awful, and show every spare tire, but loose clothes make me look bigger and "boxy". Any suggestions?
As an older lady who has been in a wheelchair the last 12 years most of these comments and idea have limited appeal. I need flat shoes cannot manage heels any more. Likewise, longer lengths for skirts and dresses avoid windy weather mishaps. Plus trousers and shorts can be really uncomfortable when stuck in a wheelchair. However, do not be stuck on the size on the label. If it is too tight try a size up if it is too loose try a size down. Do not like the size it says, cut the label out! Lastly have someone who will tell you the truth on how you look. The old adage don't dress mutton lamb fashion is well worth remembering.
This is an old picture. My hair is now in a short asymmetrical cut that flatters my features and is now my natural gray color. Best fashion move I've made post 60!
As a French woman I’d say a big NO for capris and long hair Sorry but except Diane Keaton no woman is elegant and classy ! Look at Ines de la Fressange etc very very chic and classy .. but French !!!
I wear my hair on the longer side because I can pull it up in a pony tail or bun. I HATE having my hair in my face, but don't look good in pixies anymore. And if I want to wear it down for dressy, I can'. Eff all the stupid rules. But I agree about de la Fressange - if you can afford it. I have a lovely Fressange leaf brooch that I found at a thrift store. One of my treasures!
@@charleverette130 "Agree with La Fressange - if you can afford it" Yes, and if you can find the kind of hairdresser she goes to in Paris. Nowhere in the world you will find the gifted hairdressers you find in Paris. Since I left Paris, I do my hair myself, cut, everything. Americans hairdressers are dangerous.
No capris they look ridiculous. They look like you haven’t went shopping in two generations. A skirt would be better or a sundress. I’m 68 and I wear shorts but not very often. I wear skirts or dresses.😊
Technically, the look that everyone is calling Capris is actually pedal pushers. Capris are more like slightly shorter crop pants. There is a difference.
At 73, I have finally stopped caring about what other people think of my fashion choices. I dress in whatever the hell I want. And, ladies, trust me, at 73 very few people are looking at you. In fact, I've begun to feel like I'm disappearing in a way. I watched the vid out of curiosity.
Last winter, at age 76, I felt the same way - that I was disappearing. I went down the local shopping precinct wearing different colours of gilets and jackets and the thing I noticed was that blue made me stand out as younger and dynamic. Navy trousers are really chic, and I have a striped blue shirt that takes 20 years off me. Combined with different colour gilets, lime green for example and I never feel old or invisible.
My fashion icon? Iris Apfel: no rules except style, culture and personality! I guess everything looks much classier Up There, since she arrived... 👓🌹❤️
This is the only one I’ve seen lately that says you should wear them, capris. Every other video that I think is pretty spot on, says a big no to capris. They end up right at the fattest part of your leg. And sometimes us older women, we still have pretty good looking legs and we need to show off the parts of us that look great. And for most people, it is not the middle of the bottom, part of your leg…
Sorry but it’s so so boring ! Please stop telling women what they should or shouldn’t do ! We are not dead yet, we want to live, to 7:07 have fun and above all we don’t care about people thinking !
Sorry, but I've never seen an older woman who looked good in capri trousers! Bermuda shorts, on the other hand, really suit every woman! Otherwise - thank you very much for your great styling tips! Kind regards
Man muss sich Mode auch leisten können. Wir sehen alle etwas jünger aus,als wir sind.. Das Lieblingsstück anders tragen.. Jeder trägt das was ihm gefällt.
Sorry, but I have to disagree with you on your suggestion to wear capris. The only people who look good in them are tall, thin women. Most older women are packing a few extra pounds. If one carries some of this extra weight in one’s legs, capris end at a bad spot and make one’s legs look shorter AND heavier. If the older women still have great legs AND ankles, then they are most likely carrying their extra weight in their hips, butt, and/or belly. While the capris may show off the great legs, it makes the overweight torso parts look much bigger and it gives one the appearance of a a fat apple or pear stuck on two lollipop sticks. (By the way, leggings give off the same vibe as capris…while they make the legs look great, they make the overweight belly and caboose look ginormous) One should stick with a maxi dress, long straight, flair, boot or wide leg pants or shorts. If one has a short torso, look for a mid rise pant and if one has a medium or longer torso, look for high rise pants.
For me. for as long as I feel comfy and confident with what I wear is enough to look good and stylish. I'm turning 67 next month, but I still wear steady high heels that helps me pull up walk slower and graceful! There I get my confidence without overdoing anything that I put to my body. And yes we have to take care of our skin, always moisturize and keep it hydrated. I sew my own clothes, which is more satisfying for me since I know what suits me better! And stay with it as I grow older!~ I keep my hair black straight and shiny that makes me look younger! I am blessed with less gray hair bcoz I never color it when I was young! I always keep it as it is and follow my mom regular hair brushing before going to bed when I was young! And now I understand why my mom insist on hair routine. It works when we get on our elder years in life!
These tips are pretty outdated and look really old!! Capris?? I don't want to look like former stars, I will always adhere to MY fashionable style: Classy!!
Patronising. You’re advocating that we all shrink into your idea of a “nice old lady”. Little make up, little earrings, no flashy clothes - you sound like my mother! I’m 80 and my style heroines are Iris Appel & Zandra Rhodes. You dress quietly and dowdily if you want, I won’t.

@edennis8578 When you reach a certain size, your choice of where you buy them leads online
Thank you, super ideas. I’m 60 and I’m looking forward for my new modern look for this age.
Teeth. Whiten your teeth if possible.
But do not overdo it, visibly fake whitened teeth look ridiculous and draw unwanted attention to an aging lipline.
Bright white teeth on older people look like dentures.
I’m proud of the fact that I still HAVE my own teeth! 😊
@@JoaninFlorida Better than no teeth at all!😁
@@spoofsister Just say no to neon white glow-in-the-dark teeth, especially on older folks!
Ich liebe Audrey Hepburn
Bermuda shorts
Linen wide leg pants
Ear rings
Sometimes a necklace
Sometimes a bracelet
Summertime I prefer some kind of shell for my bracelet and necklace
I loathe capris!!!😅😮😮
The next time I wear capris I will just cover up with a burka .😼
😂
LOL!!
Thx.🤗 4 the info .👍. ☺️
I am 67 and there is no way I would wear capris unless it is an exercise legging.
As we age, it’s important to make sure your earring coves you earlobes ( earlobes grow in size as we age) and the crease between the ear lobe and your face. Great earring can make your ears look smaller as the eye is distracted by your earring and not your ageing ears.
Grandma always said less is more, works for me! Now to find a well fitting, comfy bra! 😁😁😁
Don’t forget the look of one’s teeth.
🎉
Thank you ❤
Bermudas!!! Shorts!!! The advice is not on my street. Thanks.
I wear pearl earrings..classic style
Ankle length are good aswell straight cut light trousers voila
Also, Eunice Johnson from Ebony Fashion Fair, another style Icon!
Thanks ❤
Could you please tell us “plump” women what we could wear ?
What makes you happy
Sweetie, we don't exist in the fashion world, even if we ARE a majority of the population of women.
Thank you all for watching 🧡
Are there any other topics you would like me to cover next?
Maybe a story about proper undergarments for different styles of clothing would do?
Tropical clothes...islands cruise... travel light packing ...comfortable footwear.
I wear capris for exercise only.
We don’t make style mistakes. We wear what we want. Stop trying to make us feel less. Stop condescending to us.
Understated? Diane Keaton? Surely you jest, nothing understated about her style, like it ot not.
I'm 67 (but young looking), 5ft, 135lbs, not fat but with a belly. Tight clothes look awful, and show every spare tire, but loose clothes make me look bigger and "boxy". Any suggestions?
These celebrities have stylists 2 help them; we don't.
Salut ! Merci pour la vidéo
Les pantacourts ? Une horreur qui rajoute 10 ans à votre look! 😱
Its tricky 😂to experiment with a new short hair cut😢😂😂
This is an old picture. My hair is now in a short asymmetrical cut that flatters my features and is now my natural gray color. Best fashion move I've made post 60!
I'm going to start wearing pantsuits with long jackets and I love Bermuda shorts
As a French woman I’d say a big NO for capris and long hair Sorry but except Diane Keaton no woman is elegant and classy ! Look at Ines de la Fressange etc very very chic and classy .. but French !!!
Well-cut capris on thin women look very good. C'est mon opinion. Ne vous attendez pas a trop d'elegance et de classe ici.....
Makes me sad , but your absolutely correct !
Thank you!!
@@borghc3749 depends on a woman's hair younger older
If I follow your advised….. I’m gonna feel older ! So, NO THANK YOU!
Not capris ankle slacks look more polished.
You are so right ! Thank you!!
Sorry you feel that way
I am 80 & still get noticed.
I do agree with proper undergarments.
Everything else is up for grabs.
Totally agree!
It's too hot in Mississippi to go to the gym in capris.
You’re kidding right? on the photo of Judy Densch she’s clearly wearing eyeshadow and eyeliner
My fashion icon? Iris Apfel: no rules except style, culture and personality! I guess everything looks much classier Up There, since she arrived... 👓🌹❤️
I'm Capri confused. Are they a good fashion or bad fashion? So many opinions about them. In the end wear what you like.
Capri makes one outdated!! Wear Bermuda shorts or leggings if cold.
100% agree with the author of the channel. Most women look funny, not knowing how to dress up in their age.
Sorry but it’s so so boring ! Please stop telling women what they should or shouldn’t do ! We are not dead yet, we want to live, to 7:07 have fun and above all we don’t care about people thinking !
why show stars they have designers for their attire, giving them too much credit!
For me. for as long as I feel comfy and confident with what
I wear is enough to look good and stylish. I'm turning 67
next month, but I still wear steady high heels that helps
me pull up walk slower and graceful!
There I get my confidence without overdoing anything
that I put to my body.
And yes we have to take care of our skin, always moisturize
and keep it hydrated.
I sew my own clothes, which is more satisfying for me
since I know what suits me better! And stay with it as I
grow older!~
I keep my hair black straight and shiny that makes me look
younger! I am blessed with less gray hair bcoz I never color it
when I was young! I always keep it as it is and follow my mom
regular hair brushing before going to bed when I was young! And
now I understand why my mom insist on hair routine. It works
when we get on our elder years in life!
No , l have nice clothes and have small expensive jewelry. I don't wear dangling earrings. I know my rules. I wear what l want. Who cares!
Just follow your inner self. Be happy, we are all unique, not clones.
These tips are pretty outdated and look really old!! Capris?? I don't want to look like former stars, I will always adhere to MY fashionable style: Classy!!
Capris? 😩
Love bright colors! Fuchsia, bright blue, emerald green. Paisley, florals!
