So glad the distressed jeans are going !
I’m 77 and when I was young only the kids who couldn’t afford new jeans wore the holey ones! Never could bring myself to get on that trend!!!
The "cold-shoulder" top should never have been designed. It looks ridiculous on everyone, no matter what age, but especially bad on anyone over 18.
I agree with you!
I got rid of all my capri pants! They did have their time. I wore them because I have skinny legs, but I saw a woman in her 60's the other day wearing her old faded shapeless capri cargo pants with a logo tea, and crocs with socks, and she looked so old! I immediately went home and donated them all.
crocs with socks in my opinion is the WORST fashion trend that has come along since I don't know when......omg even the elementary school kids are wearing them and they look ridiculous. Someone please make it stop.
There is nothing you can not wear because of a certain age. You never HAD to wear anything. I like cold shoulder tops. I dislike the sandblasted jeans. I like 'childish' tees. I am 65 now, but have never once cared about trends, designers, or what anyone else thought of my style. Clothing is about expressing yourself - not trends, looking 'classy'/eloquent' (unless that's what you want) - just be who you are and wear whats makes you happy.
Yup. Wear what makes you happy.
Some people don’t care about fashion. For others, it’s their hobby. This info is for those people.
Absolutely love these ideas and being over 60, I embrace them. I have found buying classic pieces(t shirts) and give them a bit of flair with fun jewelry rather than printed logos makes me feel a bit more pulled together.
Well said! I love adding fun jewelry and accessories to classic pieces! 🤩
Cold shoulder tops and dresses date back to pre 1930. They have always been a good option if you don't want to or can't wear an off the shoulder top. Not everyone can wear a strapless bra.
I agree and think they've gotten a bad rap.
I have never cared much for the one shoulder thing. I like my cold shoulder tops. To each his own. 🙂
@@gusmonster59 Same.
Thank you so much for the history of cold-shoulder tops! Unfortunately, they are not a trend at the moment, but feel free to wear whatever makes you feel comfortable and happy!
Don’t n never did like the ripped jeans. I like Cold shoulder better than that one shoulder look. Also never did like the logo tees or wear them.
I believe a nice tasteful graphic t shirt would be a good option to replace the childish logo t shirt
Especially if u want a fun/casual look ...style it with a blazer and jeans and u get a very modern look
Great ideas for us to try , glad to say good bye to most of the things you mentioned, like distressed holey jeans ...Thank you ! 🙂💕
You're welcome - I'm glad you enjoyed it! 💕
Yes, the cold shoulder top is so over LOL no matter what one's age
I agree on every bit. While I don't like florals, they can be classy. I wore cold shoulder in 1993, one time. And have hated them ever since. I feel like they look cheap. Better ways to do a bare shoulder look.
Great to see examples of the 'go to' looks.
Good ideas to keep us fresh and modern. Thanks
My pleasure, Jeanne! 🥰
My style is comfortable and tshirts fit that perfectly. I have many tshirts with logos and I love them. Maybe I will eventually wear just plain tops but for now ,I’m not ready to give up my goofy tshirts.
I'm glad to hear you're doing what makes you happy! 😊
@@shoppingonchampagne thank you. I do appreciate your videos as I’ve gotten lots of good info. And advise.
@@T.T.M.60 I'm so glad to hear you found the videos helpful! Pleaes let me know if there is a topic you'd like me to cover.
@@shoppingonchampagne thanks,I’ll think on that and let you know.
@@shoppingonchampagne have you ever done a video about the number of certain clothing items that one would want to have or maybe how much is too much of any certain item?
The shredded torn jean thing always looked ridiculous to me.
I agree with everything you said. I’ve never been a ruffle kind and of person. I do have some Buc-ee’s t shirts. I only wear them around the house. The newest ones I bought are cotton and soft and I really like them. Some of the ones from the year before don’t feel the same. I gave them to my family.
I just really wear what makes me happy. I don't care if someone else likes it. I and the clothes I wear are clean and neat. I care about my appearance but have never gone with trends. I always wonder though why people that make these channels and talk about clothes for women over a certain age always show the clothes that they recommend on models that are for the most part in their 30's or so? Why not put them on the age group that you are talking about ?
You are very classy! Thank you.
Wow! Thank you so much, Nicki! 😍
I really like and agree with your recommendations.
Thanks so much! 💕
I’ll still keep a few capri pants. At 5’9”, I think they look good (same will midi skirts/dresses)!
Luckily for you who are tall, you look good in those, and just about everything. I'm petite with short legs. Color me jealous. I'm happy for you
I do not get the cold shoulder love. No holes premade in my clothes thx. Same for those stupid jeans. Lol i like low rise. They fit me better than most. And I don't get a muffin top. Mid-rise is nice but I refuse high rise. I am short waisted and these things come up to my armpits. I hate them. LOL I got rid of my velours in the 80s. No one needs calf length anything. Fortunately I have never been a ruffle fan.
High rise jeans hold in the belly fat.
Exactly! Perfect for those of us with menopause bellys!
Good point about the capris and the ankle look. Like your channel. 👍 and subscribed
I read Donna Karan’s memoir. She came up with the cold shoulder top, not honking it would go anywhere. But BarbaraStreisand liked and wore it on TV and, much to her surprise it took off. I never liked it and think it tacky
Donna Karan did not come up with cold shoulder tops. She reintroduced them. They go back a very long way. Most clothing trends are not new, just a reintroduction of something that was in style long ago. The Victorians loved ruffles. There points throughout the Victorian age where gown had ruffles, ruching, lace and cutouts all on the same gown. Fashion simply recycles.
Yes Barbra sure loves her cold shoulder black tops.
I just bought 6 track suits. I love them in winter.
Great ideas. Thank you Nancy❤
Ha, I just bought the tracksuit from 32° last year because they looked warm and comfy, and we were driving south and the winter to get to Florida. I thought it would be great to ride in the car while we were in the cold north still. Not even a year old yet so they will be worn for a long time. I guess I’ll just not look very trendy, I’m OK with that
A fun video. I like how you've explained the faux pas that wearing these items presents to the public. As well as not doing any favors for your figure! Thak you!
Presenting as a faux pas to the public? I'm not sure the public, in general, cares about what someone is wearing.
@@gusmonster59I agree!
@@gusmonster59 Unfortunately, we are judged by the way we look (and dress). No matter what people say, unless you are blind, your first impression of a person is how they look. In public, if someone is unkempt, wearing torn clothing, poorly fitting clothing, etc others will find them to be somewhat suspicious and off-putting. We do not live in a perfect world...
Great suggestions ❤thank you
You're welcome! Which one was your favorite?
I'm happy to say that being over 70, I have none of those items in my closet! Thank you for reminding me.
Good job!
Thanks so much, Lenora! 🥰
happy to say I didn't buy into any of these. would love to know where the last 3 shirts you showed are found. the wrap type ones. thank you!
Another great video.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Janet! 😍
No “whiskers” on jeans.
I’m new to your channel and I love all your suggestions. I have a question. What is your view on wearing white after Labor Day? That’s an age old question I know! Also, I am 65 and I have a white Jean jacket and a white Jean vest. Is is appropriate for 65? If so, appropriate for fall? Thanks for your assistance. Great video!
Hi Debbie, Welcome! I'm so glad you discovered me! I do like to wear white year-round, but I think the most important thing is what you wear with it. I usually put away white shoes and white bags after Labor Day. If I'm wearing white jeans or, in your case, a jean jacket and vest, I pair them with darker pieces and accessories.🤩
@@shoppingonchampagne thank you for responding! I do the same thing. When I wear the jacket or vest I usually wear them with black. I was wondering if in the fashion world that it was considered appropriate. Thanks again! I will be subscribing!
What?! No more Christmas pj pants 24/7!😂
LOL! 🎄🎅⛄
How to make a flat butt concave? High rise pants with a tucked in shirt.
I never bought distressed jeans nor a gold shoulder top I thioughtbthey were both just a passingvtrend
Please would you show us your ‘elevated sweats sets’ ? I love the forest green sweat set picture you showed us , very stylish 💚
I will have to take a photo for you but I have the exact same set that you saw in forest green but mine is a dark navy blue.
I do wear low-rise jeans or or other trousers even with skirts. I prefer that for the reason that the high rise is not suiting my proportions. I'm 1.72. I'm an x shape, but my torso is quite short. If I wear high rise, I look like I'm just hip and legs, and I hate that as it looks very unproportunal. I do it for the only reason to make my torso appear longer. It takes a while, but you can find low rise, which does not give you a muffin top. At least, i can. Sometimes, I can get away with mid rise.
Distressed jeans and low rise jeans have never looked good!
How and what type of boots do you wear with crops?
PLEASE!!!! Quit sharing pics of women that are so slim. Most of us over 50 and menopausal have bellies!! It’s so frustrating to not see outfits on the average woman vs a model.
Hooray!🎉
I never could stand low rise jeans. Gaaaaak! Muffin tops everywhere!
I love Nancy
Thank you 😊
Never did think wearing pants with the word “juicy” on the butt was a good idea, no matter the age. Not classy.
Gone
cold shoulder
distressed jeans
low waist jean
velour tracksuits
silly T shirts
crop pants
ruffles
High rise looks shit on a 16 years old with a size 30. Just generate a second pair of boobs! I have love handels in all type of jeans, but the worst is high rise. Wish this would disappear soon. I am 1.68 m, 5.5 feet, mid rise is rib cage for me!
Not wear ruffles but eat them would be my suggestion!
LOL, I love it! 🥗
How about over 70 😮 meeeee.
Cold shoulder tops?...lol. I haven't seen anyone wearing a cold shoulder top for a few years now. Hated that trend and happy not to see them anymore. Also hated the distressed jeans. I can actually buy jeans again now that everything is not distressed. It took me awhile to get into the high rise jeans but I love them now. I just have to find the right ones as I am short waisted. It seems to be easier to find jeans now that are higher rise but not ultra high rise. Eww...capri pants. They are not flattering at all. I like wearing a 7/8 pant in the summer which hits just a wee bit above the ankle. I love ruffles but not overdone. My favourite is a ruffle sleeve.
Thanks so much for sharing the trends that work (or don't) for you! 🤩
I don’t know if this is a good thing or a bad thing as I have nothing to get rid of as I have never purchased any of these trends. Does that mean I have never been trendy or maybe it means I’m almost 80! Haha! 😊
It sounds like you enjoy wearing classics! 😀
@@shoppingonchampagne I do. Are you missing Newport?
@@elizabethmeyer1529 No, because I've been back a few times recently.
@@shoppingonchampagne So happy you can return to our beautiful Southern California for visits. I live in Big Bear. 🐻💕
@@elizabethmeyer1529 Me, too! You're so lucky to live in Big Bear. 😍
Ankle length pants have to go. Looks like they shrunk. Not flattering
When I was a kid, we called them floods. 😅
No, all tracksuits should stay in the past.
Not taking advice from someone in a fleece vest.
I'm not wearing a fleece vest. I'm wearing a cabled sweater over my shoulders with a striped button-front shirt. Both are in style and on trend this season.
💖🚀💫✨💖
Ugh. Shoulders with holes 👎
Has anyone told you that the sweater draped over you is outdated? Also, I’m 70 and I no longer care what anyone’s opinion is😏
I've always loved sweaters over my shoulders but it's a huge trend that started last fall and is picking up steam this fall: www.thecut.com/2023/09/how-to-wear-sweaters-around-shoulders.html
Disagree. It's a classic.
Sweater over the shoulder is very in style, saw it all over the runway shows I watched and also on the TH-cam, Instagram, Pinterest influencers
If you don’t care, why are you here?
Rude.
