I'm quite late to this seeing this video, but the big box marked "Silkworm" is a fibre channel switch used to connect hard drives to servers. The rest of the components appear to be a Fujitsu mainframe (a server, but on steroids). It would probably connect to another disk system (several fridge-sized racks) through the Silkworm switch. The hard drive unit is out of one of those fridge-sized disk systems from Hitachi, but it's only a single piece of a giant thing. The full thing would hold 256 or 512 hard drives per rack, if i remember correctly. I've worked with many of these things and i'd guesstimate you've got somewhere between $200,000 and $500,000 worth of hardware there...
That Silkworm back plane board (1:21:56) would be nice to keep, it would look good hanging on a wall as a showpiece. The dozens and dozens of gold pins look extremely impressive.
Great to hear you have more pick ups planned! Since the slow down in the lockdown it's great it's picking up again. Good luck! And if you have the spare time and motivation, it would be awesome to follow how it's going!
If only you can see what the fiber madules are if they are at 11:04 might beable to make some money out of them if they are 1gb or 10gb fiber optic modules
Lovely scrap! As a cpu-collector (and general nerd), every detail counts, as with model numbers and other specs. If you can, please try to show the label on ram-sticks, cpus and other circuits up to the camera, just for a few seconds holding them still. Then those being extra curious can pause the clip, google part-numbers or other details on the chips. And possibly feedback into the comments on more detail. Thanks from Sweden!
Have you thought about sending 100 grams or whatever weight you choose of the Gold Ban Crystal Oscillators to a good backyard refiner to have the knowledge of grams per kilo you can get from them? You are the only person I know that would have kilos of them.
That thing cost tens of thousands of dollars when it was new. Next time save the boards with the gold fiber optics modulators on them, those are worth a fortune.
8:30 looks like those servers are for running j.a.r.v.i.s. it says it right there on the board, for Ironman only. TFF 42:40 Most of those little cards seems to have all SMD parts which mean it would be rather easy to depopulate them in one go in a hot sand bath.
Hi Ben. I am looking to buy some toroidal transformers & capacitors for a project. Do you sell things direct to the public & how do I go about contacting you?
man ,what the hell only it man like me knows about these stuff ,those are fiber cards and the modules name are gbic ,you know how much expensive those are ,thats really waste when youre going to scarp it
Ben, I love your videos but do you know what I really like? You're kind to all animals. I even remember when you had a neighbours' cat visit. That tells me all I need to know about you. The rest is window dressing.

That was a cool scrap. I love the unusual stuff - really helps to break up the "same ole, same ole."
this is what i'm waiting for, scrapping on the last video white van loaded with nice electronic materials, really realy COOL stuff.
That was fun to watch , it must have been a very impressive system to see when it was running ....................... Thumbs Up
Another great video also love the pick up videos you do

If I get fired - your fault 😛
Alright I've been waiting for a marathon, and boom! Really enjoyed Ben 👍👍
People wonder why server equipment costs so much.
Just look at the quality of the parts and build and you see why.
Great Video Ben Keep Bringing The Video's Dude Nice Server's👍👍
thanks man
love it
I wonder what type those 8 gig server ram sticks are, if they are ddr 2 or 3.
theyre ddr3, i was able to make out PC312800 on them which is ddr3 1600mhz
@@elliecarpenter987 heck I have a server they would have worked great in I could have used them to upgrade the 2GB DDR3 1600mhz I have in it now.
@@McCuneWindandSolar and for the price of ram right now he is taking a huge loss by scrapping it rather than selling it

Damn that's a lot of SFP transceivers. Were they 1gbit or 10gbit transceivers?
if theyre 10gb hes sitting on a gold mine lmao
love the chicken

Are you seeing more server system replacements recently (past year or two)?
Yeah it seems so, but servers become obsolete quickly
Have you thought about sending 100 grams or whatever weight you choose of the Gold Ban Crystal Oscillators to a good backyard refiner to have the knowledge of grams per kilo you can get from them?
You are the only person I know that would have kilos of them.
I scrapped one of those backplane boards and got 3 grams of gold from just the plates
11:00 those slot-things can be worth a lot of money :)
Ya , only one sfp module cost $10-$100
Olá!!!! Você compra esses aparelhos?
ace scrap
Este equipamento faz parte de qual sistema ? Telefonia ?

Ben, what models and TBs are those 40 SAS drives?

Hi Ben
I know you collect the gold pins and fingers for future gold recover , but can you sell them as they are? Thanks
Yes there's lots of people looking to buy the pins
G'day Ben.
