I appreciate you going slowly on the steps and at the end actually showing us how soft they are so we have an idea of the texture and hold of the tortillas! 😊
I’m 34 and I tried making tortillas de harina for a very long time. I did this yesterday and I felt like a true señora making some burritos de frijoles this morning lol! I followed it exactly as you said to do it and they came out perfect. Thank you Claudia.
Im Native american myself and I know mi Abuela is staring down shaking her head...i got the dough pretty good...but my roll out skill tho...lol my tortillas end up shaped like Venezuela or Ecuador...sometimes Colombia if im paying attention...which is good for helping the kids with their geography homework I suppose...but anyway they're still muy rico...gracias por la receta... 😁😁😁
There’s nothing more comforting than warm homemade flour tortillas with a little butter 🥲 Happy new year Claudia may God continue to bless you and smile on you ❤️
I've been watching Claudia for a few years now. Her recipes never disappoint. and just bought her cooking book I can't wait to make all the recipes! I encourage everyone to buy her book and support our fellow Latina and amazing cook 🎉
You are seriously the only one that I watch when it comes to food because you’re so easy so simple and so fast and then ingredients always work and the ingredients are always on point is why my food always just so good thank you girl God bless you ☺️❤️
Great, clear and concise video. Based on your recipe: 55 grams of flour is needed for one tortilla I always convert recipes with flour to baker's percentage so I can scale easily: 100% All purpose flour 20% Butter 52% Water (ratio up to 60% works) 2.1% Salt Water temperature between 110°F -120°F Great scale to use for baker's ratio is the My Weigh KD-8000 digital food scale. I use a cast iron 14 inch pizza skillet on the top stove and it works wonderfully for tortillas, pitta bread, etc.
Oh my heaven! Yes! I just completed making these for the first time and they are divine! I can't imagine EVER buying flour tortillas at the store again. Muchas gracias, Claudia!
Thanks! I tried these seriously super delicious soft tortillas and they were so easy! Helping me dive back into my roots by cooking! ¡Muchas Gracias! My family loves them! 🌮🫔
This was nice and explained slowly. My Mom always explained everything in Spanish and I couldn't keep up with her and by the time she was done explaining I had a terrible headache. These Tortillas came out good and I felt like a True Mexicana, but when those memories come back, I always reach for a V-8.😊
I’ve always struggled making good tortillas. Did this recipe with my 4 year old and not only was it fun but it was very simple and stress free! Thank you Claudia so much. ❤ Oh and they were delicious btw!!!!!
Thanks for using butter for us vegetarians. Wow! it was amazing to see how the dough went from sticky to manageable! I never saw that before. This is the best tortilla video out of 5 or 6 that I have watched. Thank--you!
I made these today I had to adjust little by adding extra flour when needing the dough due to me doubling the recipe, but they came out absolutely delicious. 😋Letting them rest was the trick. Thank you Claudia great recipe will be making these all the time now. Even my mom who has never attempted making flour tortillas was impressed about how simple it was to make them. ❤
Im going to learn how to make flour tortillas myself for the first time. I've learned every Mexican recipe from you. So I should just overcome my fear of making homemade tortillas and do it. Hopefully it comes out good. Thanks for sharing 🧡
QUESTION: Isn't there supposed to be baking powder in your recipe for soft buttery tortillas? All of the recipes I have tried use both baking powder & salt added to the flour. And that is why you let the dough to 'rest' & covered before you make your individual balls to activate the baking powder before rolling the tortilla out. I am wondering what makes the dough to 'raise" when it's cooking on the grill, if there isn't any baking powder in your recipe & you use 'all-purpose flour. I could understand it raising on it's own, if you use self-rising flour. I thought maybe the baking powder was accidently left out of your recipe?
Oh my gosh she is absolutely a queen she is super cute I would love to cook with her and fuse some of my recipes with hers .. I love this buttery grandma style tortilla I grew up eating these as a kid I found my new favorite cooking show gosh girl you sure are beautiful
My grandmother used to make these every day when I was a kid, she used lard back then and a 6 inch rolling pin--and they were amazing. I've never had success making them, they always turn out hard and flaky, going to give your recipe a try, thanks!
I’ve been making my family tortillas for over 30 years now. I was taught to use White Wing flour by my mother-n-law. At first she told my to put 1/2 cup of salt in the dough. Yes she hates me and you can imagine that everyone was sitting around the table at dinner time spitting out the first tortillas I ever made. It was so embarrassing. I was 8 months pregnant and I just ran to my room. Anyway I finally figured out how to make tortillas on my own, there were no TH-cam/computers back then. I would love to make tortillas like yours!! They look very pliable, soft and delicious. Thank you for sharing your recipe, I appreciate it so much!!!
So sorry. Thank God, there are awesome folks and we now can find anything on here, it’s at our fingertips. Forget the haters who won’t help us and furthermore try to sabotage us. Blessings.
I am a longtime tortilla maker. I use your recipe but the last few years i let my kitchenaid or bosch do the mixing. Does great. It was hard for me to not put in baking powder but they turn out fine.
Thank you so much for sharing your techniques and skills with us. I made these Toritillas and they are now my new favorite recipe. From start to finish you rock with the details on how to get it done.
Went to the local Lebanese bakery today to go pick up some buttery soft tortillas but they were fresh out. So, I had no choice but to go to the supermarket and pick up the prepackaged mediocre ones that tears when you fold it and I thought to myself man I wish I could find some buttery soft tortillas and well now this video shows up. Proof that the marketing machine is listening in. Love the recipe, will definitely try it next time. Do you hear that Illuminati, I'll try it next time. You got what you wanted.
I never have made tortillas de harina , never !! This recipe is the best. In taste, consistency and they don't get hard like the lard ones. One thing if you live in Texas and have an HEB close by use Falfurrias Butter Salted. The taste is better than hydrogenated ones. Thank you I just need to work on making them round lol ..some where good and round some looked squared lol ..and some ...like the texas state LOL
Just made a half sized batch of these but I did add baking soda (from the recipe you made them with lard). Since this was my first time making tortillas, the first two I rolled out were throw-aways but the remainder were SO GOOD!! Looking forward to eating them with some pulled pork carnitas and fresh pico de guillo. And just for context, 45 grams is a good size for tacos, 90 grams is good for burritos or wraps.
Thank you, thank you, THANK you!!! Followed your instructions to the letter and just made my first totally successful tortillas. Usually something goes wrong somewhere and they turn into flatbread thickness, or some are thin & others are thicker. (I think it was the baking powder) Your recipe is simple, delicious and every tortilla was evenly thin throughout. They made the BEST burritos! Now I can throw out my other tortilla recipes! Yours is a the only one I need!!
You look good in every color! Claudia let Luis know that I really love the filming/editing (as always)!! I like how when you’re introducing yourself and your recipe at the beginning of the video it shows the final product so beautifully. Nice touch! I can smell the tortillas from here! 😊😋❤

I've been buying my tortillas at HEB for several years. They are so good. Homemade would surely be better. I did not grow up in a region where there were many Mexican people (the rural Northeast in the 80s and 90s), and there was hardly any Mexican food anywhere. Moving to a few states with a heritage of Mexican cuisine, I've learned to make a few dishes, as I do tend to cook and learn recipes for things I love of various ethnicities and nationalities. I'll repeat that fresh flour tortillas (with butter, not lard) and a good quality butter is one of my most favorite things on earth.
I am determined to make great tortillas! I am going to make these everyday for a week using your recipe! I will update I n a week! Thank you so much, love your recipes! Can't wait to take on your enchilada sauce!!
Super delicious!!! I’m actually dairy free so I substituted the butter with vegan butter and so so good. Made burritos and they held together perfectly! Just need to work on rolling perfect circles 😝
This recipe works! I enjoyed making these and my family totally enjoyed eating them. Thank you for sharing. This is now my family recipe. Tan ricas y deliciosas.
I've been making quite a few of your recipes and they all come out great! It's helping me find more joy in cooking for my family and seeing their reactions is awesome :) keep it up!!
I have tried to make flour tortillas twice now. Not sure what I made but I promise they were not tortillas. Lol. I have plans to try again this weekend. I'll follow this recipe, maybe I'll have a little more success producing what everyone says is simple. My current recipe I've been using calls for lard. I'm hopeful butter makes the difference. Fingers crossed.

I found it useful to just use 2 pieces of plastic and a book, makes almost perfect circles.
Also just blowing on it helps to separate it from plastic

Warm Flour tortillas with melted butter and cinnamon sugar are one of my favorite snacks
Look up her recipe for buńuelas, Make them as-is, but instead of the sauce she makes, toss in regular sugar and cinnamon. Take that up a notch! Yum!

You can do it! I started making my own tortillas recently. No going back to store bought. I found for me using shortening with butter is the best.
