Hands down the BEST SOFT AND FLUFFY FLOUR TORTILLAS!
Soft and Fluffy Flour Tortilla Recipe
6 Cups all purpose flour
2 1/2 Tsp baking powder (I use double acting baking powder)
2 1/4 Tsp salt
1/2 Cup Vegetable Shortening (I use Crisco)

@@TeaDinnahTeaByBecky how long do you knead your dough? And what temperature do you cook them at?
And, are you using a Cast Iron skillet?
@@mayesrichard3167 Thank you for subscribing! Knead the dough for 10 to 15 minutes. My stove was set between the low to medium settings and I use a think non stick comal. You can use a cast iron skillets as well.
@@TeaDinnahTeaByBecky thank you! I’ve never seen anyone roll out a tortilla without a rolling pin. You are awesome! 👍😃😋
I tried this, they were perfect just a bit yellow what can i do differently?
I have found that different brands of all purpose flour gives a different color and texture. I used all purpose flour from Costco.
What if you don't have shortening
I followed your recipe but mine still come out tough or hard why?😭
I had a similar issue. The recipe was correct, but they came out tough. I found that by placing the cooked tortillas on a plate and then covering it with another plate it softened them through steam. This also work in the microwave with a little water tapped onto the tortillas and then with a plate covering, steamed for 10-20 seconds. Hope this helped!
Hello, usually when this happens, the dough need more time to raise. The colder it is the longer the baking powder in the dough takes to activate. Be sure to test baking powder for freshness as well. I usually put my dough in a warm place covered with plastic wrap and a kitchen cloth to raise for at-least 45 to 60 minutes in winter time because of the drop in temperature. I hope this helped and thank you.
@@TeaDinnahTeaByBecky Thanks!
@@TeaDinnahTeaByBeckythis is the issue I was having thank u ... I thought I was putting to much salt now I know that would of been a big mistake
