Lived in Thailand 10 years...
1..Language not a big deal unless you live out in the middle of nowhere...can learn all you need to know in a month for taxis, restaurants and having a basic conversation.
2. A LOT of good, educated Thai women but hard to find outside of Bangkok. Be ready to support them though if you expect them to quit their job to be with you.
3. Many visa agents can arrange for long term visa for a reasonable fee. Easy to find this in Pattaya/Jomtien.
4. Many older expat men can have relationships with very attractive women under 30 but expect to be the sugardaddy.
@jspbipro
your point #4 : exactly 💯 .. that falls in to the p4p arrangement i mentioned in my first comment here on the thread .. many men .. even much younger men pay their 'gf' a monthly salary ranging anywhere from 10 000 baht to 30 000 and beyond .. this arrangement is very very common in Thailand .. especially if you're older or younger average looking to hhmm well being ugly 🤷 many men don't care about genuine desire based attraction .. such an arrangement is perfect then IF one can afford it
@@paulthurson 💯
@jspbipro
it's definitely not my thing .. paying a girl to pretend like me .. plus guys get jealous when she fools around which they almost always do in these arrangements because she DOESN'T love you bro lol .. but if a guy can get past that and has the coin to afford it to each his own i say
Philippines is also getting more expensive however without any improvements to infrastructure which makes it less appealing going forward. I think Thailand overall offers a much better value for your dollar now.
You have to be more blind than stevie wonder if you think there is no infrastructure being put up in PH, no country in south east asia or asia comes close outside of china, better catch up with the current times bro
don't over hydrate and bring back salt.
'farang' is not derogatory - it basically means you are white. Where I live in the N.E. Thailand village they call guava farang because it is white inside
So if I call a Thai living in the west brown skin person that's ok is it? Not derogatory then?
Jomtien/Pattaya is an awesome city. While im currently in the philippines, i definitely loved my 9 months there.
Great vid fellas- Nate
If you surrender citizenship, there is an exit tax of paying all the capital gains on assets, as if they were sold. Unless assets at the time are under $2M.
We older expats in Thailand have retirement visas. One year with annual renewal. I've live in Jomtein 7 years.
The PI is better for those over 60 with average wealth and average looks. There's too much competition in Thailand if you want a relationship. Your only choice will be with 40+ hardened prostitutes. If you want to be a bachelor, then Thailand is better. Another problem with Thailand is that the last thing you want to be doing is visa runs when you are over 60.
I am over 60 and have never done a visa run my agent just does a yearly renewal and I have never spent more than 5 minutes in a immigration office here and as far as relationships I don't deal with bar girls or prostitutes and I have had no problem finding girls to date
I hope the tax situation in Thailand does not discourage immigration.`💰 🇹🇭
Not sure why Kevin think he has to give up his US Citizenship. Search for Dual Citizenship and Saint Lucia. and you'll find "Saint Lucia recognises dual citizenship so you can retain your current nationality."
And, it is perfectly legal for a US Citizen to also be a dually. There are literally millions of us. I'm a dual US/Canada citizen.
So, he doesn't have to give up the US citizenship to hold a Saint Lucia passport.
He would have to do so though to escape US taxes. That said, that is also a complicated endeavor as the US doesn't allow you to just walk away. You WILL have tax liability to deal with during the process.
To avoid paying taxes in the US. If I renounce my citizenship, I will pay 0% taxes on capital gains. I make my living trading stock options and the premiums I get paid are short term capital gains…taxed the same as income. There is an exit tax to leave. Also, the US is the only country to charge a fee for filing 🤔over $2K….after that, I believe I have to pay 24% tax on everything over $2 Million USD
@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 Oh, I was wondering about that too. I'm living in Cebu since 2009 and it makes sense for me to get PHils Cititzenship. And where do I signup for you course how to trade stock options ?
I subscribe to both of your channels. Always like it when you get together.
I predict that Kevin will like Chiang Mai. Lots of nature north of there in the national parks.
Good content! Thank you
I’m definitely going there next time!
Great video Mark!!!! Kevin is a great guy!!!! 2 thumbs up my friend!!!!
Thanks man!!!
funny man."I like noodles better than rice" my favorite noodle in hong kong was udon noodle!!
I love Udon noodles too😉
I have a Filipino wife and we both say Thailand wins hands down, it’s not even a comparison.
On the point about English language, it’s way way way better than it was, someone told me now 50% understand / speak English, it’s taught in all schools so give it a generation and it’ll likely be similar to the Philippines when it comes to numbers of people who understand / speak.
Even if you can speak no other words of Thai, most European and American visitors to Thailand will quickly become familiar with the Thai word farang (often mispronounced (even by Thais) as falang - farang with a slightly trilled 'r' is the correct pronunciation.) It's basically used to describe caucasians, though African-Americans will sometimes also be known as farang or as farang dam ('black farang'). Farang is also the Thai word for the guava fruit, so you can expect to hear farang eating farang 'jokes' if you happen to purchase any.
😊just great to see he has more travel to do and just enjoy every bit of it!! Blessed!
apparently he is saying that thailand ladies are like Japanese ladies --refering to the age gap
Vietnam gives you the best bang for your buck
Thailand is cheaper. Standard of living is generally better across the board. Power grid, Transportation, Healthcare…Philippines is a Catholic country and most speak English. You’re not nearly as isolated. Thailand has a lot going for it…The poverty and inefficiency will wear on guys in the Philippines. Keep an open mind.
yet this still mostly seems like the voice of a person that is a thailand fanatic at heart that I cant take seriously in the least
Thailand all the way.
Bali and Philippines > Thailand.
Thailand is overpopulated with tourists and the government is just a complete mess, they are constantly trying to tax you also
I have been to both Phi And now live in Jomtein for me it’s not close Thailand hands down
Cause you live with ladyboys now
I've also lived in both. Phi has certain charms in the providence areas. I have yet to discover Thai providence life but I doubt it can compare.
Jomtien human sewer
@@369dabbler Its a pretty awesome one
Mark tell your friend he cant compare Bangkok with Dumaguete, Bangkok vs BGC are the ones! Thailand also have places like Dumaguete
I was comparing it to BGC, Makati and Cebu City. I’ve been to all of the modern cities in the Philippines. There’s no comparison when you factor infrastructure, pollution, traffic and quality of life
@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 the only point id contend here is the pollution .. Bangkok's air quality is often some of the worst in the world 🌎 YES there's awful pollution in the big Philippines cities.. those damn jeepneeys cough hack .. BGC tho is very clean .. but YUP Thailand/Bangkok .. there's no argument if you're in touch with reality .. BETTER 🏆
ha ha ha he said Malaysia a good place to go the most crowded place in the world density wise besides India.
Check out their visa and passport situation.
I think this guy is another one that is comparing the premier areas of thailand to some random out in the sticks province of PH, thus that is where he is drawing this thailand superiority blank, thats what i am seeing from him.
I’ve been to BGC and Makati in Manila, and I have been to Cebu City the most advanced areas in the Philippines…. No comparison!!!!
@@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 Funny I went to thailand and didnt see what you saw, youd have to introduce me to that invisible portion of thailand
@@gangstagummybear3432it’s called Bangkok, and Jomtien
@@gangstagummybear3432you’re entitled to your opinion man…no need to get pissy. You can stay in the Philippines if you want
@@gangstagummybear3432 Exactly! I've been to Thailand many times and once you get away from the tourist areas, it's a shole in comparison to western standards. IMO, it's ahead of the PI, for my situation, but it's still poor and a developing country. Either country is better or worse depending on the person.
The only people that think the Philippines is better than Thailand, never been to Thailand or haven't spent much time in the country. To compare the Philippines to Thailand is an insult to the Thai people. To be honest the two countries should not even be in the same sentence. Its like comparing a Mercedes to a Toyota Prius.
A big pro for Westerners is the level of English in Philippines is generally higher than in Thailand. Plus it’s a Catholic country. Those are biggest advantages for some…Thailand better off…Healthcare, Power grid….Transportation….it still lags behind the west of course but it’s more stable than the Philippines. I won’t call it a Mercedes…maybe a Toyota Camry with leather…Trust ne a Westerner will be targeted in both by scammers…It’s also cheaper in Thailand…considerably.
There are decent spots in the Philippines…generally the standard is better across the board in Thailand. The visa is also cheaper for military in the Philippines. Pros and cons.
@@aboveitall9600 English is selling point used to make up for the country short comings. I've traveled the world. When it comes to tourism, the people that need know English, will speak English.
@chosen_one1602
im tied to the Philippines due to my relationship but what you say is 100% true .. there's no comparison for the quality of life and what you get for your $$$ in Thailand .. Thailand wins 🏆 hands down!
@@paulthurson Same boat. I am actually struggling right now with my trip this year. Last year my patience’s was definitely tested.
Yeah right, Philippines people and nature are far better than Thailand.
You can't compare Thailand and the Philippines on the same day, Thailand winn in every aspect and it's cheaper
No chance. Philippines people a lot nicer, better English and nicer beaches
@@chrisk7118 I guess you never been in Thailand
the thing that baffles me is WHY is the Philippines more expensive than Thailand when the quality of what you get in Thailand is leaps and bounds better ?? that i don't get
@@paulthurson Island country. Plus anything above the depths of poverty is looked at as high end. It’s about what they have not what we as westerners think is high end. The entire country is dead set on charging dang near US prices in BGC or IT park when the value just isn’t there. It’s nice, it’s polished for the Philippines…but there are a lot of nice and polished cities in the World that don’t include the risk of being scammed or robbed. It’s similar in other countries. Thailand risk is there but I think it’s less. You stand out in both as a white a guy.
@@aboveitall9600
you make some interesting points to consider 🤔 altho ive not had an issue regarding safety in the Philippines i certainly feel safer in Thailand .. not sure why that is exactly .. less beggars for one i guess .. definitely can still get scammed in Thailand too tho
@@paulthurson Two enterprising Security Officers took my passport and demanded 2000 pesos from me. Their hands were resting on their pistols. Very polite about it…I paid the price, not wanting to see how serious they were. Scammed in Taxis pretty much every trip…Manila has a story to it every trip.
@@paulthurson Never had an issue in Philippines. My friends have had multiple safety issues in Thailand, my friend one of the nicest guys ever was bottled randomly by a local in Koh Tao (aka Death Island) and my blonde friend was grabbed, taken onto a motorcycle and about to be raped in Phuket, she jumped off the bike to get away and has a huge scar on her leg as a memory. Thailand hides all bad news fanatically as they know it can bury their tourism.
@@aboveitall9600 Absolute nonsense. All the hardcore drug crime and gangs are located in Thailand. Golden triangle trafficking, CCP trafficking all operating in Thailand levels beyond anything else in South East Asia. This is a hard fact.
