You can spend that 199 to so much more essential items. Wait till they release a real handheld device to compete with the steam deck market and you'll come selling your portal just to get the next handheld lol.
My question is let's say my little brother is playing on the PlayStation but on his account can I use a PlayStation portal to go on my account even though he's using my PlayStation with the TV it's connected to?
Idk the price seems on point for what it is. The PSP launched at $249 in 2005, which is a whopping $406 adjusted for inflation. Games were $40 and had to be purchased even if you had them for your console. This is an extension of your PS5, with all the games you’ve already purchased. The major drawback being you need constant WiFi, which I get, but this trade off seems worth it.
So once you get done streaming your game to the device. You are not allowed to play it.. say like at work on your lunch break or you need to be having hotspot to log on
the not being able to easily change the joystick if fails and not having a 4g/5g sim or having issues with public networks defeat the purpose for me... it seems to be more focused to households where there is only 1 tv available....
No it’s not worth the premium price tag. Once I learned that it requires an internet connection, and not just being able to DL my games so I can actually use it on the go, it chose to forego it because it’s not what I’m actually looking for in my mobile gaming.
@@_AmericanDad_ the psp and vita were premium items, costing between 100 and 200 in their respective times, and could work independently of the systems they were associated with, the portal cannot do that, so yes, it’s not worth the premium price, yes that’s a premium price as it comes to accessories. For that price it should be able to function independent of the PS5, much like its predecessor’s, and even the controllers and headsets.
Wii u kinda did the same thing back in 2012. If someone was using the tv you could switch it to the gamepad. Only difference is you had to be kinda close to the console.
Then get a backbone controller for 100$. It’s totally a fair price. It was never a nitendo like console. It is was remote play from the start and thats your choice to buy it or not
I did all these steps but when I turn my ps5 off my portal disconnects and I cant use it anymore till I turn it back on. I did the settings right aswell
Better than buying a pair of shoes that cost that much.. or spending it in fast food… buying cigarettes… beer.. liquor… hookers…. Drugs etc… I could go on for days how much we all blow money on frivolous things.. not a bad way to waste it if you are a gamer… (in my opinion)
Same, I love mine qnd surprised how convieneint it is and how it adapts to my daily life. Truly an amazing device that allows me to play even more games.
There are so many little things with like no web browser, no Bluetooth , possible stick drift in a year if they fix all those things maybe it’s worth 200
Let me educate you nerds on something… Sony will never make another psp anytime soon. Do you guys want to know why? It’s because for one the technology is not truly here yet to run current gen or even last gen. Anyone telling you the lie that the steam deck or the Rog ally can is full of it. Triple A games struggle mightly on those devices unless the Mod community can work magical powers most games do not run well… 2. Sony and Nintendo stopped making handhelds ( switch is not a handled) because developers were complaining about making two separate games. The reason the steamdeck and Ally can get away with this is because the Mod community is heavy on there 3. There isn’t a battery on the market that can handle last gen or current gen. This is why the battery life on the steam deck is terrible now 4. Cloud Gaming… Sony is trying to make history with the cloud by you being able to play ps5 games without the need of a console and the technology behind their architect is slowly closing the gap.
Ok? No need to treat console nerds lower than you are, and insulting those people who mention the Steam Deck and such doesn’t help… You do have some points tho, I’ll give you that. But you act like you know everything about this stuff, at least when you mentioned the word “educate”

@@CC_Reads Sony has def done atleast three redesigns of the Dualsense now. 1,A and now we’re on B and they’ve been working on the stick drift issue, they’re aware of it.
I have drift on both my remotes just bought a 3rd today. 60 quid. It's a joke
SO IT MEANS I CANT USE IT WITHOUT PS5 ?
😂
So what’s the point of getting it like if you can’t travel with it
Sorry but I see absolutely no situation in which I'd need to have this.
I’d rather buy the clip that attaches your phone to your controller for $10 lmao
@Thug_Nose and use the screen fr button pushing? Yeah you do that and I'll buy your portal and 1v1 you on any game, wanna see how that ends up?

@lewisdinnebier7931 .....lol. you sure?
Having to have it linked to the same wifi is pointless as you can't leave the house with it. What's the purpose of having a "portable gaming platform" if it's not even truly portable
Nope. But you can play outside your home. The price is 200 for a reason. At least it has a decent sized screen.

1. not a console
2. only $199

4. I love mine
Is it only for dads?
Only for a gamer with one TV in the house.
You can spend that 199 to so much more essential items. Wait till they release a real handheld device to compete with the steam deck market and you'll come selling your portal just to get the next handheld lol.

Whatever your PS5 is playing, that's what this thing is going to stream. Since your PS5 will be playing only one account at a time, so will the PSP
Okay, thank you!
Would of been so much better if it was its own thing. Its basically kind of like a WII U GAMEPAD in a way. 🤷♂️
Make that a WiiU Gamepad....

@@Nutsarooba the comment was edited bro. It said something else at first.
“You can take it anywhere” *has to be connected to the ps5 in some way*
Through the internet
But you can still take it any fuckin' where including a mountain and underwater. Not guarenteed to work tho.

No it’s not worth the premium price tag. Once I learned that it requires an internet connection, and not just being able to DL my games so I can actually use it on the go, it chose to forego it because it’s not what I’m actually looking for in my mobile gaming.
$199 is a premium price point?
@@_AmericanDad_ the psp and vita were premium items, costing between 100 and 200 in their respective times, and could work independently of the systems they were associated with, the portal cannot do that, so yes, it’s not worth the premium price, yes that’s a premium price as it comes to accessories. For that price it should be able to function independent of the PS5, much like its predecessor’s, and even the controllers and headsets.
So you want a steam deck for $199? nah@@skullfracture3870
You knew the specs since day 1 of announcement. Nothing is new about it not able to download games to it lol

I dont think so cuz this is just like ps remote on phone
You could've stopped the title at "Don't buy a Playstation Portal"
maybe you cant afford it but others can
Wii u kinda did the same thing back in 2012. If someone was using the tv you could switch it to the gamepad. Only difference is you had to be kinda close to the console.
Sony: John, help us.
John: I'll see what I can do...
I don’t think they need help. It’s selling regardless of what tech heads think.

still amazed how you pack so much information in a 4mims video! awesome job

Triple A games struggle mightly on those devices unless the Mod community can work magical powers most games do not run well…
2. Sony and Nintendo stopped making handhelds ( switch is not a handled) because developers were complaining about making two separate games. The reason the steamdeck and Ally can get away with this is because the Mod community is heavy on there
3. There isn’t a battery on the market that can handle last gen or current gen. This is why the battery life on the steam deck is terrible now
4. Cloud Gaming… Sony is trying to make history with the cloud by you being able to play ps5 games without the need of a console and the technology behind their architect is slowly closing the gap.
Ok? No need to treat console nerds lower than you are, and insulting those people who mention the Steam Deck and such doesn’t help…
You do have some points tho, I’ll give you that. But you act like you know everything about this stuff, at least when you mentioned the word “educate”

While on rest mode
They should make a modern psp, not this tinpot controller with pixels

U can swap out the thumb stick modules kinda like the dualsense edge. It’s not as easy but there’s replacement sticks coming and there’s tutorials on YT on how to do it.
Yea they changed the design so that it’s much easier to replace (screwed on instead of soldered)

The truth about the playstation portal is that it's a complete waste of money, and shouldn't be purchased in any capacity at all.
I prefer people have a choice so it's good to have PS Portal on the market. Initial stocks were sold out quickly and this device is only possible to buy with increased price at the moment. This shows there is a market for it. I'll not buy it as I don't need it but I don't mind other people enjoying it.

Does it still work for someone who does not have a Ps5 and just wanted to buy and play with the portal?
Most suckers realized the truth the day they got it
I finished the whole ghostwire tokyo with platinum with the portal alone. Apart from the connectivity issues, it's amazing. Even with the same wifi and having the device nearby, it doesn't connect most of the time..

You can literally get a backbone for $100 and do the same thing with your phone. That’s what I do and it works fantastic.
Playing PS5 games with backbone sucks. You loose the dual sense controller features and you don't get a beautiful 8inch screen .
not on my shitty 6 inch screen no the backbone + phone sucks. I use it for mobile gaming instead.
So I can play my physical games on the portal as long as the Disc is in?
So you can’t use it outside your house?
I find that this isn’t worth it. I get constant disconnections at home even and I do check that both the ps5 and the portal are using the same connection as well. Always disconnecting and sometimes poor connection which makes the game looks fuzzy like your watch a hi res TH-cam video with Bad connection . ATM it’s been sitting unused for the past month. Does ur ps5 needs to be connected to wifi on its own even after u already connected it with Portale? Because i know u have to have both be connected to wifi when pairing it but after that does the console itself needs to still be runnin on wifi!????
So as a truck driver always bored in my truck this isn’t equivalent to having a system or worth the purchase?
So it always has to be connected to the same network? I can’t just use my hotspot while my ps5 is at home?
