New gaskets should stop the freeze, much cheaper than a new freezer! Boat's looking better, you are doing great!! Fair winds....

you should use a hair dryer to soften a little the rubber for the first time, the installers suggest that to have perfect seal

Great tip! Thank you! Hopefully, we will not need to do this again in the next 4 years :)

Great job, go easy on the wife, be patient, everyone is learning. Next time you have a chance, when you’re on the dry, you might think about marking (painting) your anchor chain in 25 foot increments so you know how many shots you have out.

Marking the chain is still in our list. Totally forgot before we got it installed! Thanks for feedback!

The amount of work to get the boat ready for blue water sailing is just daunting! Enjoy seeing everything that goes into the process... thanks for the great content! Can wait to see you guys get underway in a few weeks...!

The icing up of the freezer usually means it not sealing correctly and you're getting the humid air into the freezer. You may need to replace the gaskets or adjust the slides to get it to close properly. There's a old trick you can do to see where the air leak is: take a thin piece of paper and put it between the seal and the door and close the door. Gently pull the paper out. Repeat all around the opening. There should be some resistance as you pull the paper. If there's anywhere that the paper slides out without resistance, check for a crushed or damaged seal. Anywhere there's an excess of resistance, check the alignment of the door.

Thanks for the tip! We replaced are the gaskets and it’s working much better!! Thanks for watching!

Even on our new 42, we defrost every 2-3 weeks. Step 1: turn off the freezer/fridge (you missed this): Step 2: put a towel in the drawer bottom; Step 3: use a small hair dryer to loosen or melt the ice and take it out with the towel. If really bad, just remove the drawers. They are a bear to get back in, but you should be good in humid conditions for at least 2-3 weeks or more during winter. PS, a small hair dryer is useful for so many things, like getting hoses on or off.

Wow! Thanks for the info! I guess I’ll go to my moms and get my hair dryer that we were gonna leave. I may not get to use it on my hair but hey, it made its way back on board for something!

You only need a fan. Mover the food out and put the fan in the drawer aim toward the ice. You will be completely done within 30 minutes. @@SailingParadiseFalls

Looking good. Fit a thin piece of cutting board plastic to put on the bottom your freezer compartment and another at the back. If you do need to defrost it, it makes it much easier to lift out the ice build up.

I really appreciate that you guys post the cost information. My wife and I are about five years out and this is helping us start to form what our budget might look like.

Our pleasure! I am trying to make videos of what we wanted to know while we were preparing. I am glad that you find it helpful! Let us know is there is anything else that you would find useful! Best of luck!

Out of all that you will enjoy it all but probably notice having the cup holders most of all. I’m sure you have many more projects but wonder when and where your first leg of world travel will begin?

Yes! The cupholders were essential! We depart Jax heading south in 3 weeks. Only a few episodes away!

Hopefully you sealed the screw holes for the cup holder with 4200 or something similar. If not, research bedding process as it is important to keep water out, especially above the stearing bearings.

Applause for getting the little guy in the projects. I know it is a little more work, but he will build that confidence and will be a big help and first mate under way.

We are sadly going to have to return in 4 years unless we hit the lottery (which we do not play). We will see how the next 4 years play out. Thanks so much for watching and your comment!

Placing a pot of hot water inside the freezer will help melt all the frost. It will be quicker than trying to chip away at it.

Nice video! Why did you replace the anchor chain? From what I saw it did not look too rusty or old.

You absolutely right but we had already purchased it on sale months before. Good ground tackle is imperative! Could have save $1700!!
