Arlo can't be trusted TBH, he's too willing to toe the corporate line. He won't blindly lie about a game's quality but he'll offer false hope to an extent that keeps him in good favor with the companies.
That's why I prefer folks who are NOT afraid of tearing the product apart and pick out some actual red flags that shills FAIL to recognize. Of course, I may not agree with everything, but I usually learned a thing from them anywya.
When I first saw that 7 minute video of Frontiers gameplay, I was immediately wondering how Rob was going to react to it. So far, he doesn't disappoint with his comedic reactions.
Can we all just collectively skip the part where people come out of the woodwork and say "don't criticize it at all because it's early footage"? We *just* did this three years ago with Sword and Shield and it was as unfinished as it was in the trailers. The games are coming out in months, fellas. It's not changing much if at all.

They really shouldn't let IGN of all companies be the ones to showcase upcoming games. DOOM 2016 is a prime example. Even worst than the Cuphead fiasco. They somehow made the game look worse than this old build probably is with the constant super slow walking and mashing boost when it's very clearly a Hold ability.

Every time anyone says "It's still early development!" I point to the way Larian does their early releases, THAT's "early development" and it still generally runs decently well, when anyone else shows any gameplay whatsoever I always expect it to either be a complete mock-up "vertical slice" piece of marketing or the legit latest build in development. When devs show gameplay these days, they are not going to change much.
Rob's reaction to Frontiers was exactly what I expected. No anger or sadness, just disappointment. I don't understand how they can be so lazy about the level design tbh, the pro skater series has places to grind all over the place and it's based on reality, and they couldn't figure out something in a fantastical world?

About the Pokemon trailer: My biggest complains are the textures. As you noted e.g on the wall how you can see the pixels of these textures and then the "grass" terrain. The textures in cave look absolutely hideous. I honestly wish that they would change their art direction towards more simple cel shading and try to mimic 2D watercolor style or something. Also the Pokemon models don't look great. They feel very plastic-y. Lastly, I though those legendary pokemon looked cool until I noticed their chest wheels :(

I think the idea behind the school uniforms is to have the protagonists relate better to the target audience. That is to say, school students. That said, I have mixed feelings about the default outfits.

i will say this, the enviroment itself looks great, not talking about graphics and the pop in but the location itself, i imagine going through it in something like a remake of phantasy star or something of the like. take all the sonic bs, the artificial crap, and put a good game on it, and it would be really nice to explore.

I like the idea's for this game, but it needs more time. Looks interesting at least, and yeah I agree the game is bare bones it's nowhere near close to being done. At this point the game should just be like a walking game sort of like the game spirit of the north.
So the new pokemon rival: is sunny and energetic, is your friend and guide through the region, and cant throw poke balls well... So she's hop... Who was just galarian hau. So we're gonna be getting essentially the same "rival" 3 gens in a row. As long as she doesn't interrupt the story as awful as hop she'll be fine I guess but with how these stories are written, that's gonna be exactly what she does at nearly every opportunity i bet. At least she'll appeal to... Certain fans i suppose😬
Also she is described as being a "Strong Trainer" although for pokemon standards this probably doesn't mean much Also Hop was ok throwing pokeballs he just kept training to throw better

Having a kid getting depressed cause he cant win doesnt make me want to fight to get better, it just makes me pity him and want him to win. Hop beat my ass in the end and I was proud of him till he said that "you're stronger than me, we both know it, fight me at your full potential" BS. He was never a rival, he was just a friend who's sole purpose was to interrupt the player and boost your ego. Bede was the best rival we've had since fucking cheren. Dude constantly puts himself on a higher pedestal than everyone and makes you WANT to kick his ass and get better to do so. I'm not saying the rival has to be a dick per se, but if they're not gonna present themselves as someone you want to take down because they're a dick, they should at least be a competent battler and know it. Hop wasn't competent until he got a legendary busted dog, and even then he refuses to acknowledge his own strength. That's my take on it at least.
I remember taking an internet quiz out of total boredom one day, where you had to guess through Facebook pics if a girl was 12 or 21. Almost all of them had breast sizes that were... quite big. And a majority of them were 12. So... People are growing a lot faster nowadays. It was a very strange experience.

While I'm sure IGN was told what they could and couldn't show, resulting in a somewhat weak impression, the game still feels like its in-between an Alpha and a Beta The world and the controls are finished, but little else. The animations are stiff if not outright unfinished, there's no momentum or inertia,tons of pop-in, we know that there are enemies and bosses but none are shown and the puzzles are whatever (nothing bad, but nothing interesting either) I genuenly feel a 2023 delay is the best choice for Sega right now as 5 months will BARELY be enough time for them to improve the animation and fix the pop-ins alone
I don't quite thing a delay will help in this case. These beta looking design elements seem rather purposefully made to be that way. Meaning together with the delay we get a new game director will we properly see no real improvement in the overall game design no matter how much time you throw at it.
One lady with green streak definitely going to be a friendly rival which is annoying, hopefully they actually put effort in her like Walley, Shauna, or Bianca. For those that don't know Mirai means future, Korai means time immemorial or ancient translating from Japanese to English, and don is latin for lord. So the legendaries are lords of future and past. One thing I'm hoping for is the villain, like I've been saying since SwSh Rose shouldn't have existed, his role would've better fit the professor or champion, your lawful good villains. So my hope is, because I highly doubt the professors are version exclusive, their models will still be in the game, like if I pick Scarlet for cave women, then Future Chad will pop up somewhere else in the game and I hope he's the villain, vice versa should you choose Violet. That or your specific professor also becomes the villain and the opposite professor is a red herring that'd be an even bigger twist. Because Rose was so shittily written, he was so obvious, he shouldn't have existed there just shouldn't have been an evil plot if they were treating it 2nd hand and doing at the very last possible second, that's not how you write a story.

Scarlet Sada is YOUR professor, meanwhile the other guy is going to be the villain. Because it seems odd to have such an important character as the professor be version exclusive like gym leaders, and gym leaders are the only time it noticeably happens, your rivals, champions, elite 4, mom, none of them are version exclusive special unique characters outside gym leaders... and the villains in gen 3. So my thinking is it will play out like that. How old are you? You don't feel comfortable with age then you can give me a rough estimate, early 20s, teen, late 20s like me. I mean no offense, but just about everyone that played SwSh knew he was the villain, and he's the 1st character you see in the entire game, the moment the game boots up. For starters how he looks, the pompous demeaner, rich, just like Lusamine, Maxie, Lysander, and Cyrus. Pretending to be friendly like Lysander or Lusamine, and the most damning evidence of all he's a unique NPC. There's never been a chairman before in the franchise, why would the league need a chairman at all? The only unique NPCs in the franchise are villains, your mom, professor, gym leaders, elite 4, champion, and your rival, everyone else is a generic NPC. Nurse Joy is unique, but she's also generic in that every town has the same model reused. The only other times were battle facilities, or minor characters not relevant to the story like Aarune from ORAS or Scott from Emerald. Zinnia I suppose you could argue, but she's treated sort of like a rival throughout the Delta episode. Rose didn't fall into any of these... except for villain because a chairman has never been seen before. Oleana also new, but she's an executive like Courtney, Archer, Saturn fawning over their leader. I kept hoping he was a red herring, that Oleana or Leon would turn out to be the villain, maybe even bigger twist Sonia or her grandma... sadly I got my hopes up too high. He is teh most predictable villain, and on top of that one of the worst ones in any game I've played, from his motive, to how gamefreak handled him and his executions throughout the story. Just my opinion though, if you didn't figure it out, don't feel bad guess that just means you enjoyed the story more than the rest of us.
@@IgnatiusBlaze4 I was 19 when I played it and I only knew he was the villain thanks to videos I watched. I never expected it in the first place. He never gave off hints he was evil. You can easily predict how something plays out and still be caught off guard when it happens. Legends Arceus is a perfect example of that.
@@Shantae1188 Exactly, Legends Arceus WAS a good example of that, while I did predict Volo, it was a throw away, nothing to hint at it, then post game you notice hints here and there. That was also something Rose lacked, hints of villanous intent until the very last possible second, that's why I said his execution was handled poorly too, one of many things that were executed poorly with him. He was too nice for his own good, he looked the part, had a unique sprite, has the power and money to back him up again all traits from the last 2 villains that were handled way better. Volo was handled perfectly, you have no inclination through the main game, then post game you get suspicious here and there, then when you're in front of Giratina's statue with him, you know something isn't right. Even though I predicted it, even as a throw away joke, it was perfectly executed. Even Komado who had similar motivation and fell into the same lawful good nature was handled better than USUM Lusamine, and far better than Rose, because he isn't a villain he's just trying to protect people and fearful. Rose or USUM Lusamine, for the sake of mankind shtick like some sort of God or angelic being that is evil, I think was handled better with Komado, and would be best suited were they to make the champion or professor a villain. USUM Lusamine was meh, better than Rose for sure, but meh because they were hitting the same notes as SM, but in that she's a psycho bitch, just off the wall crazy, and trying to reuse the same beats for her character rather than making a new one, like Lillie getting kicked out of Aether Paradise makes less sense. The motivation of for the sake of everyone, or if used in a professor, also for the sake of knowledge, knowledge being the greatest power of all so they could predict and avoid disasters in the future, only for it to backfire, worked in Komado's case, and could work better in a professor or champion rather than a predictable villain. Rose's whole point for being there in the game was just to be a villain, he has no other purpose outside of being a chairman... of which is that ever shown in the game? As a chairman of the Pokemon league what does he do? How does he handle the Pokemon league different from other regions, Galar like the UK is an old country so I assume the league isn't new like Alola meaning there have been chairmen before him... so what is the purpose of the chairman? He has less power than the champion, the champion has always been shown to be the height of power in previous regions, the strongest trainer, tasked with protecting people from threats... most of the time like Lance, Steven, Wallace, Cynthia, or Alder, and Alola didn't have a champion which is why Team Skull could run rampant and take control over a whole city, or Lusamine be free to do as she pleases. He scouted Bede... cool? Leon scouted Hop and yourself, his whole role is unnecessary and feels just there to fill a role besides obvious villain is villain. That he didn't give hints of evil is a weakness to his character, even if it seems like that's a bonus, because he was obvious. Thus my logic of him being a red herring. Whether he drops hints or not, if he's a red herring to throw off the scent, then someone else like Leon, Oleana, Sonia, Magnolia, or someone else turned out to be the villain it'd throw things off create a twist. He didn't though, he didn't give hints on top of being very obvious as a villain mixing for a bad combo. It was a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario because all other signs pointed at him as being the villain, whether he made hints or not, but had he dropped hints in actuality that would've benefitted to his character, BECAUSE it'd give him a reasoning for being evil even if that made him more obvious than he already was, much like Giovanni or Ghetsis. They look the part of being evil, Giovanni no hesitation in your face yep he tells you he's the villain, the twist comes at the end. Ghetsis obvious villain, but his story is good and strong because he drops hints here and there, he seems good natured on the surface. Even if we can assume him to be the villain just from appearance, that he's fooling the in game characters around us from random NPCs to his own son and one of your rivals N, from his own grunts to important characters he's a snake, but if you tried voicing your opinion he's gathered the mass of voices, like a cult or religious leader so you'd be in the wrong opposing him. Even though he's obvious and dropping hints that's what makes him a great villain, and Rose is a bad mix of elements from past villains. Hope you kind of get what I mean, sorry this is so long, hopefully that means I explained it well enough. Again that's my opinion, if yours is different, you're entitled to it, I'm looking at it from the perspective of a writer, someone wanting to develop games, I play tons of RPGs of which Pokemon is, a genre heavy on story and character development, it is the bread and butter to RPGs, don't have either you don't have a game. It's also probably partially due to me being calculated, like telling me you were 19, if you played on release that'd make you 22 or 23, maaaybe 21, or if you didn't get the game right away you could still be 19 for all I know. However others have voiced the same opinion, lots of people have, that Rose was a poorly handled character, so even someone I know that doesn't have a Sherlock Holmes brain easily guessed it right off the bat. Again though, if you liked him, thought it was a surprise own that, don't let anyone tell you differently or think you're inferior because of it, if anything I think that's good because you got to enjoy the game unlike other people. For me that was the mood killer, I was indifferent, not going to judge the game based on how it looked, just my experience, and it was meh throughout the game, in fact I'd hoped there would be no villain... and then it all went down with a snap of a finger, at the very last possible second, which is terrible story writing.

Nah bro it's over. Last good sonic game i can think of from sega is generations. Modders will fix the game as it usually is the case nowadays. Also replacing a 3D model is way easier than fixing the issues we're seeing with frontiers.

I am so disappointed with Sonic AGAIN! I know that people go back to it a lot, but I really don't understand how Sonic Team didn't learn from how successful Sonic Mania was. I remember seeing a fan-made Sonic engine demo called Sonic Project Hero (likely still around) and it looked amazing! How can a company that's been around for so long make a worse triple A game then a fan-made engine? As for Pokemon, I have to admit that It's passable at best, and I wish they had shown more original Pokemon in the trailer. I like the female professor design, and I dislike both legendaries equally. I like only spriggatino out of the starters, so I'm likely going to take it. Edit 1: Rob: WHY ARE HER BOOBS SO BIG? According to some stuff I've heard and a bit I've read about, plus anime, girls are actually starting to develop much earlier then they used to, so the idea of a girl being more 'developed' if she's around the same age as the protagonist isn't outside the realm of possibilities. Young real girls having early stages of puberty can and has happened, usually around 13 and sometimes younger. So a teen with big tatas or wide hips in middle school isn't unbelievable. I recently just learned a little girl had gotten pregnant at the age of 7 back in the early 1940s from a rare maturity symptom. She's still alive to this day, I think.

Really cool to have multiple of rads friends on here at once. ❤️ Pokemon gen 9 looks nice to me, tho like always there is stuff that could be so much better, I like both legendary Pokemon and like how the humans look, and love the starters and new Pokemon, be nice if there are more nice things to see for that game. (Sonic) Honestly I like what I see I think the game looks beautiful, music sounds wonderful and fits the open world, I like how some of the animations look, sonic seems to move better than forces, it seems like there is stuff to do in the world, I like how the enemies and bosses look, the combat looks interesting and could be fun (and reminds me of KH3 lol) That being said some of the animations do look off and rushed, the popping is bad, I feel like some parts do have to be empty cause your going to be fast, there needs to be room to do that, plus it doesn’t help that the person playing doesn’t seem to know how to play, with the whole tapping the boost and not holding it down… and again I feel like we still need to see more and actually get info on how and what works and what we will be doing in the game. Anyways that’s just what I think… can’t wait to see people killing me just because I think there will be some good things about this game. Like don’t get me wrong I know there are some things that don’t look as good as I’m sure many people were hoping. I have seen people still very excited for this or those that are still excited but still worried. Man… it hurts. Starting to feel bad that I actually enjoyed this trailer, cause it feels like I shouldn’t… was it just because sonic forces was so awful…? idk I’m probably gonna get killed either way if I say I love or hate what I see, it’s just sad…
I don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying trailers like these whatsoever, even if frontiers personally looked horrible, I'll acknowledge theres some good looking elements to it. Pokemon similarly has some elements that I know should be better and it's disappointing to see it being held back from what it should be. That being said I also won't deny that trainers look more expressive and fluid than ever and the multiplayer seems like a good idea (assuming there's stuff to do and not just walking sim for everyone). My issue is when fans of both series pretend like these games are flawless masterpieces already and refuse to look at it critically. Pokemon are once again rooted in place after legends arceus fixed that issue, why will the enemy lechonk just sit there instead of actually walking over to hit your pokemon? Also not having the new legends catching system is a step back that makes catching not fun for me again, now I'm just gonna catch my 6 mons and never throw another pokeball. We built up a fun new mechanic, and made pokemon physically jump over to hit their opponents, and now we're just backpedaling for no reason. That being said, game does look better, trainers look great once again, and the lighting especially looks good. I just wish people would stop dick riding these 2 franchises and understand that for a majority of people it isn't being a "hater", it's being critical and overwhelmingly disappointed in a series you love and want to improve on its shortcomings.
@@darcidious99 I kept telling people, “Legends is a SPINOFF, they are likely not going to bring many features from that game and put it into main line.” And keep in mind I don’t care if GameFreak calls it mainline, they are only calling it that to increase sales, if XD gales of darkness and Coliseum are spin-offs then so is Legends.
@@dinoshotgun legends is a bit different than those 2 to be fair, especially with it taking place in a mainline region and the story of the game (as awfully as it was written) accommodating to it. Also those 2 games were much more different with the extremely limited pokemon available and shadow mechanics, gameplay wise it separated itself from mainline series pretty hard. Legends gameplay wasn't so much a push to some brand new concept as it was a genuine push to what the mainline series had to offer. Love or hate legends catching system, I loved how it actually made playing as the trainer fun for the first time instead of just being a human model to transport the fun pokemon around. Move-style's and turn order were to try and push it from just "I go, you go, I go, etc." And put more strategy there. Of course it is very different to mainline games in other ways such as the reporting/star system and primarily the noble fights which are drastically different (more of a spin on totem pokemon IMO but hey pokemon dark souls was definitely a new direction). Problem is they've advertised it as both mainline and a sideline game at different times, so no one really knows what the shit is or if its kinda just both. Still, if a sideline game built off the mainline series has more fun, varied, and fresh concepts at hand, not putting them in mainline in at least an optional manner is beyond disappointing. I've wanted to see shadow pokemon in main series ever since B/W2 when your rival's sister's purrloin got stolen and turned malicious thanks to team plasma, that's straight up just a damn shadow pokemon😂. It would also make the affection/friendship system have more of a use since you could make them happy for like weaker attacks but added affects being more likely (flinching for example, and obviously this would be singleplayer only as im sure it'd break multiplayer), or make them hate you for stronger attacks but more disobedience and less likely effects. Makes it a lot cooler than just "floatzel won't fucking die cause he loves you" happening 3 turns in a row like in trash ass BDSP, and would give us a reason to keep pokemon angry other than just frustration, and gives both happy and angry pokemon different risks vs rewards. If they really want to keep the 2 games mechanically seperate, fine, but at least release more games in that style. It's been how many years since xd and the only game to have the shadow mechanic since is damn pokemon go, that's just a travesty. I HOPE they'll continue doing the legends series since I enjoyed the gameplay mechanics, but who's to say they wont just desert it too. Idk bottomline, the pokemon company is just stupid😂

Scarlet and Violet look graphically worse than Sword and Shield in a lot of ways. At least SwSh had a colorful art style. This game looks more generic.
I wonder, what music is going to be in this game. When it comes to soundtracks sonic games are pretty good at it, even in the trailers but they just put generic pretty music but who knows because its just the trailer.
Wall running, cool back I guess, but... the world is boring, Rob says it's more interesting than Legends, but personally I think it's the opposite, maybe that's because I did somewhat like the game vs he hated it. Like it looks like BotW but worse, Sonic levels pop out, they're expressive, colorful, stand out and make the characters stand out... it's just boring. Also not everyone was asking for an open world Sonic OR FRANKLY Pokemon game. Just because it can make sense doesn't mean it should be done, if you don't know how to integrate your world into as such then you shouldn't which... is a point against Sonic, but in Pokemon's case gen 1 was the most open the franchise has been, the 1st games, just like Zelda 1... so it makes sense that it could be open more so than Sonic, but I still don't think they should've, a spin off, like Colosseum/Gale of Darkness sequel or remakes sure I could see those working better, mainline games should stick to their RPG roots, top down chibi style NOT LIKE BDSP, go back to ORAS.

I mean I had my doubts but yeah I think this confirms once again only Sonic is playable in this game which sucks because Knuckles has been in open world like environments before, Tails, Rouge, Cream, Silver, even Ray even if he's classic only all characters that'd thrive better in open worlds. Then at 13:22 what does he have the lightning shield from Sonic 3?

No not every game you're 10 years old. Gen 1 11, gen 2-4 12 years old, 5 both games you're 15, XY you're 18, then gen 7 onwards they forced us to be 11 again except In Legends where they made us 15. Walley is the only character that's actually 10 in the franchise, N was 22, but I get what you mean, it's annoying and they're really hitting hard by putting us in school uniforms, how much they want to appeal to kids with this game rather than us older fans, I haven't been in school for... ignoring college almost a decade. Sure they're still drawing in new younger fans, but come on, especially since they're obviously making the professor's look that way, they know what they're doing, and the majority of us are older fans, why make us 11 again? Green streak girl probably a friendly rival, she's giving us a tutorial there great like we need more of that crap. Legendaries are fine, I like the Scarlet one, but compared to the Violet one which is so well done, it's just meh. I'm probably getting Scarlet, unless they do something egregious that just offends me, it seems ok so far, nothing amazing, seems meh bland. If time travel is involved they better fricken do it right, and they better go hard on the story and villain unlike SwSh, hopes are champion or one of the professors is the villain, might do like a Ruby Sapphire Scarlet Chad is villain, Violet Cave Mom is the villain.
They are not stupid on the sonic trailer what they are doing is just like what they did with pokemon arceus they know how popular the mario and zelda games were and decided if we take elements from those popular games then ours will sell great. Btw what we want is a sonic not super sonic breath of the frontier.
And now we seen a much better build; could've be used BEFORE. Still, I'm cautiously curious of the final product despite the obvious red flags (cough reusued generations stages cough spit). Also, the dash panels has gotta go. I want to CONTROL, not let the game hold my hand.

When I first saw that 7 minute video of Frontiers gameplay, I was immediately wondering how Rob was going to react to it. So far, he doesn't disappoint with his comedic reactions.

We *just* did this three years ago with Sword and Shield and it was as unfinished as it was in the trailers. The games are coming out in months, fellas. It's not changing much if at all.

They really shouldn't let IGN of all companies be the ones to showcase upcoming games. DOOM 2016 is a prime example. Even worst than the Cuphead fiasco. They somehow made the game look worse than this old build probably is with the constant super slow walking and mashing boost when it's very clearly a Hold ability.

I point to the way Larian does their early releases, THAT's "early development" and it still generally runs decently well, when anyone else shows any gameplay whatsoever I always expect it to either be a complete mock-up "vertical slice" piece of marketing or the legit latest build in development.

About the Pokemon trailer: My biggest complains are the textures. As you noted e.g on the wall how you can see the pixels of these textures and then the "grass" terrain. The textures in cave look absolutely hideous. I honestly wish that they would change their art direction towards more simple cel shading and try to mimic 2D watercolor style or something.
Also the Pokemon models don't look great. They feel very plastic-y.
Lastly, I though those legendary pokemon looked cool until I noticed their chest wheels :(

i will say this, the enviroment itself looks great, not talking about graphics and the pop in but the location itself, i imagine going through it in something like a remake of phantasy star or something of the like. take all the sonic bs, the artificial crap, and put a good game on it, and it would be really nice to explore.

And after every rival battle she'll give you a few Rare Candies, potions, or other items as you progress through the game.

Hop beat my ass in the end and I was proud of him till he said that "you're stronger than me, we both know it, fight me at your full potential" BS. He was never a rival, he was just a friend who's sole purpose was to interrupt the player and boost your ego.
Bede was the best rival we've had since fucking cheren. Dude constantly puts himself on a higher pedestal than everyone and makes you WANT to kick his ass and get better to do so. I'm not saying the rival has to be a dick per se, but if they're not gonna present themselves as someone you want to take down because they're a dick, they should at least be a competent battler and know it. Hop wasn't competent until he got a legendary busted dog, and even then he refuses to acknowledge his own strength. That's my take on it at least.

While I'm sure IGN was told what they could and couldn't show, resulting in a somewhat weak impression, the game still feels like its in-between an Alpha and a Beta
The world and the controls are finished, but little else.
The animations are stiff if not outright unfinished, there's no momentum or inertia,tons of pop-in, we know that there are enemies and bosses but none are shown and the puzzles are whatever (nothing bad, but nothing interesting either)
I genuenly feel a 2023 delay is the best choice for Sega right now as 5 months will BARELY be enough time for them to improve the animation and fix the pop-ins alone

These beta looking design elements seem rather purposefully made to be that way. Meaning together with the delay we get a new game director will we properly see no real improvement in the overall game design no matter how much time you throw at it.
One lady with green streak definitely going to be a friendly rival which is annoying, hopefully they actually put effort in her like Walley, Shauna, or Bianca. For those that don't know Mirai means future, Korai means time immemorial or ancient translating from Japanese to English, and don is latin for lord. So the legendaries are lords of future and past. One thing I'm hoping for is the villain, like I've been saying since SwSh Rose shouldn't have existed, his role would've better fit the professor or champion, your lawful good villains. So my hope is, because I highly doubt the professors are version exclusive, their models will still be in the game, like if I pick Scarlet for cave women, then Future Chad will pop up somewhere else in the game and I hope he's the villain, vice versa should you choose Violet. That or your specific professor also becomes the villain and the opposite professor is a red herring that'd be an even bigger twist. Because Rose was so shittily written, he was so obvious, he shouldn't have existed there just shouldn't have been an evil plot if they were treating it 2nd hand and doing at the very last possible second, that's not how you write a story.

Yes I know they are, I got that from the initial trailer, what I was saying is I feel like both are going to be in the games. Scarlet Sada is YOUR professor, meanwhile the other guy is going to be the villain. Because it seems odd to have such an important character as the professor be version exclusive like gym leaders, and gym leaders are the only time it noticeably happens, your rivals, champions, elite 4, mom, none of them are version exclusive special unique characters outside gym leaders... and the villains in gen 3. So my thinking is it will play out like that.
How old are you? You don't feel comfortable with age then you can give me a rough estimate, early 20s, teen, late 20s like me. I mean no offense, but just about everyone that played SwSh knew he was the villain, and he's the 1st character you see in the entire game, the moment the game boots up. For starters how he looks, the pompous demeaner, rich, just like Lusamine, Maxie, Lysander, and Cyrus. Pretending to be friendly like Lysander or Lusamine, and the most damning evidence of all he's a unique NPC. There's never been a chairman before in the franchise, why would the league need a chairman at all? The only unique NPCs in the franchise are villains, your mom, professor, gym leaders, elite 4, champion, and your rival, everyone else is a generic NPC. Nurse Joy is unique, but she's also generic in that every town has the same model reused. The only other times were battle facilities, or minor characters not relevant to the story like Aarune from ORAS or Scott from Emerald. Zinnia I suppose you could argue, but she's treated sort of like a rival throughout the Delta episode.
Rose didn't fall into any of these... except for villain because a chairman has never been seen before. Oleana also new, but she's an executive like Courtney, Archer, Saturn fawning over their leader. I kept hoping he was a red herring, that Oleana or Leon would turn out to be the villain, maybe even bigger twist Sonia or her grandma... sadly I got my hopes up too high. He is teh most predictable villain, and on top of that one of the worst ones in any game I've played, from his motive, to how gamefreak handled him and his executions throughout the story. Just my opinion though, if you didn't figure it out, don't feel bad guess that just means you enjoyed the story more than the rest of us.

You can easily predict how something plays out and still be caught off guard when it happens. Legends Arceus is a perfect example of that.

Exactly, Legends Arceus WAS a good example of that, while I did predict Volo, it was a throw away, nothing to hint at it, then post game you notice hints here and there. That was also something Rose lacked, hints of villanous intent until the very last possible second, that's why I said his execution was handled poorly too, one of many things that were executed poorly with him. He was too nice for his own good, he looked the part, had a unique sprite, has the power and money to back him up again all traits from the last 2 villains that were handled way better. Volo was handled perfectly, you have no inclination through the main game, then post game you get suspicious here and there, then when you're in front of Giratina's statue with him, you know something isn't right. Even though I predicted it, even as a throw away joke, it was perfectly executed. Even Komado who had similar motivation and fell into the same lawful good nature was handled better than USUM Lusamine, and far better than Rose, because he isn't a villain he's just trying to protect people and fearful.
Rose or USUM Lusamine, for the sake of mankind shtick like some sort of God or angelic being that is evil, I think was handled better with Komado, and would be best suited were they to make the champion or professor a villain. USUM Lusamine was meh, better than Rose for sure, but meh because they were hitting the same notes as SM, but in that she's a psycho bitch, just off the wall crazy, and trying to reuse the same beats for her character rather than making a new one, like Lillie getting kicked out of Aether Paradise makes less sense. The motivation of for the sake of everyone, or if used in a professor, also for the sake of knowledge, knowledge being the greatest power of all so they could predict and avoid disasters in the future, only for it to backfire, worked in Komado's case, and could work better in a professor or champion rather than a predictable villain. Rose's whole point for being there in the game was just to be a villain, he has no other purpose outside of being a chairman... of which is that ever shown in the game? As a chairman of the Pokemon league what does he do? How does he handle the Pokemon league different from other regions, Galar like the UK is an old country so I assume the league isn't new like Alola meaning there have been chairmen before him... so what is the purpose of the chairman? He has less power than the champion, the champion has always been shown to be the height of power in previous regions, the strongest trainer, tasked with protecting people from threats... most of the time like Lance, Steven, Wallace, Cynthia, or Alder, and Alola didn't have a champion which is why Team Skull could run rampant and take control over a whole city, or Lusamine be free to do as she pleases. He scouted Bede... cool? Leon scouted Hop and yourself, his whole role is unnecessary and feels just there to fill a role besides obvious villain is villain.
That he didn't give hints of evil is a weakness to his character, even if it seems like that's a bonus, because he was obvious. Thus my logic of him being a red herring. Whether he drops hints or not, if he's a red herring to throw off the scent, then someone else like Leon, Oleana, Sonia, Magnolia, or someone else turned out to be the villain it'd throw things off create a twist. He didn't though, he didn't give hints on top of being very obvious as a villain mixing for a bad combo. It was a damned if you do damned if you don't scenario because all other signs pointed at him as being the villain, whether he made hints or not, but had he dropped hints in actuality that would've benefitted to his character, BECAUSE it'd give him a reasoning for being evil even if that made him more obvious than he already was, much like Giovanni or Ghetsis. They look the part of being evil, Giovanni no hesitation in your face yep he tells you he's the villain, the twist comes at the end. Ghetsis obvious villain, but his story is good and strong because he drops hints here and there, he seems good natured on the surface. Even if we can assume him to be the villain just from appearance, that he's fooling the in game characters around us from random NPCs to his own son and one of your rivals N, from his own grunts to important characters he's a snake, but if you tried voicing your opinion he's gathered the mass of voices, like a cult or religious leader so you'd be in the wrong opposing him. Even though he's obvious and dropping hints that's what makes him a great villain, and Rose is a bad mix of elements from past villains.
Hope you kind of get what I mean, sorry this is so long, hopefully that means I explained it well enough. Again that's my opinion, if yours is different, you're entitled to it, I'm looking at it from the perspective of a writer, someone wanting to develop games, I play tons of RPGs of which Pokemon is, a genre heavy on story and character development, it is the bread and butter to RPGs, don't have either you don't have a game. It's also probably partially due to me being calculated, like telling me you were 19, if you played on release that'd make you 22 or 23, maaaybe 21, or if you didn't get the game right away you could still be 19 for all I know. However others have voiced the same opinion, lots of people have, that Rose was a poorly handled character, so even someone I know that doesn't have a Sherlock Holmes brain easily guessed it right off the bat.
Again though, if you liked him, thought it was a surprise own that, don't let anyone tell you differently or think you're inferior because of it, if anything I think that's good because you got to enjoy the game unlike other people. For me that was the mood killer, I was indifferent, not going to judge the game based on how it looked, just my experience, and it was meh throughout the game, in fact I'd hoped there would be no villain... and then it all went down with a snap of a finger, at the very last possible second, which is terrible story writing.

Also I liked USUM Lusamine more. I also think Lysandre is better than Ghetsis despite having never played and probably never will play Gen 5

I'm pretty sure we all expect the graphics of any 3D pokémon game to be garbage. We've already seen that other studios that actually focus on animation can do so much better with the pokémon franchise, game freak is basically too lazy to up their game.

They can barely get single player great so I have very very low hopes that the multi player will be any good they need to get the single player working great before they try multi-player. I will let the youtubers be the gennie pigs to see if it is any good.

I am so disappointed with Sonic AGAIN! I know that people go back to it a lot, but I really don't understand how Sonic Team didn't learn from how successful Sonic Mania was. I remember seeing a fan-made Sonic engine demo called Sonic Project Hero (likely still around) and it looked amazing!
How can a company that's been around for so long make a worse triple A game then a fan-made engine?
As for Pokemon, I have to admit that It's passable at best, and I wish they had shown more original Pokemon in the trailer. I like the female professor design, and I dislike both legendaries equally. I like only spriggatino out of the starters, so I'm likely going to take it.

According to some stuff I've heard and a bit I've read about, plus anime, girls are actually starting to develop much earlier then they used to, so the idea of a girl being more 'developed' if she's around the same age as the protagonist isn't outside the realm of possibilities.

Young real girls having early stages of puberty can and has happened, usually around 13 and sometimes younger. So a teen with big tatas or wide hips in middle school isn't unbelievable. I recently just learned a little girl had gotten pregnant at the age of 7 back in the early 1940s from a rare maturity symptom. She's still alive to this day, I think.

Pokemon gen 9 looks nice to me, tho like always there is stuff that could be so much better, I like both legendary Pokemon and like how the humans look, and love the starters and new Pokemon, be nice if there are more nice things to see for that game. (Sonic) Honestly I like what I see I think the game looks beautiful, music sounds wonderful and fits the open world, I like how some of the animations look, sonic seems to move better than forces, it seems like there is stuff to do in the world, I like how the enemies and bosses look, the combat looks interesting and could be fun (and reminds me of KH3 lol) That being said some of the animations do look off and rushed, the popping is bad, I feel like some parts do have to be empty cause your going to be fast, there needs to be room to do that, plus it doesn’t help that the person playing doesn’t seem to know how to play, with the whole tapping the boost and not holding it down… and again I feel like we still need to see more and actually get info on how and what works and what we will be doing in the game.
Anyways that’s just what I think… can’t wait to see people killing me just because I think there will be some good things about this game. Like don’t get me wrong I know there are some things that don’t look as good as I’m sure many people were hoping. I have seen people still very excited for this or those that are still excited but still worried. Man… it hurts. Starting to feel bad that I actually enjoyed this trailer, cause it feels like I shouldn’t… was it just because sonic forces was so awful…? idk I’m probably gonna get killed either way if I say I love or hate what I see, it’s just sad…
I don't think there's anything wrong with enjoying trailers like these whatsoever, even if frontiers personally looked horrible, I'll acknowledge theres some good looking elements to it. Pokemon similarly has some elements that I know should be better and it's disappointing to see it being held back from what it should be. That being said I also won't deny that trainers look more expressive and fluid than ever and the multiplayer seems like a good idea (assuming there's stuff to do and not just walking sim for everyone).
My issue is when fans of both series pretend like these games are flawless masterpieces already and refuse to look at it critically. Pokemon are once again rooted in place after legends arceus fixed that issue, why will the enemy lechonk just sit there instead of actually walking over to hit your pokemon? Also not having the new legends catching system is a step back that makes catching not fun for me again, now I'm just gonna catch my 6 mons and never throw another pokeball. We built up a fun new mechanic, and made pokemon physically jump over to hit their opponents, and now we're just backpedaling for no reason. That being said, game does look better, trainers look great once again, and the lighting especially looks good. I just wish people would stop dick riding these 2 franchises and understand that for a majority of people it isn't being a "hater", it's being critical and overwhelmingly disappointed in a series you love and want to improve on its shortcomings.

@@darcidious99 I kept telling people, “Legends is a SPINOFF, they are likely not going to bring many features from that game and put it into main line.” And keep in mind I don’t care if GameFreak calls it mainline, they are only calling it that to increase sales, if XD gales of darkness and Coliseum are spin-offs then so is Legends.
@@dinoshotgun legends is a bit different than those 2 to be fair, especially with it taking place in a mainline region and the story of the game (as awfully as it was written) accommodating to it. Also those 2 games were much more different with the extremely limited pokemon available and shadow mechanics, gameplay wise it separated itself from mainline series pretty hard. Legends gameplay wasn't so much a push to some brand new concept as it was a genuine push to what the mainline series had to offer. Love or hate legends catching system, I loved how it actually made playing as the trainer fun for the first time instead of just being a human model to transport the fun pokemon around. Move-style's and turn order were to try and push it from just "I go, you go, I go, etc." And put more strategy there.
Of course it is very different to mainline games in other ways such as the reporting/star system and primarily the noble fights which are drastically different (more of a spin on totem pokemon IMO but hey pokemon dark souls was definitely a new direction). Problem is they've advertised it as both mainline and a sideline game at different times, so no one really knows what the shit is or if its kinda just both.
Still, if a sideline game built off the mainline series has more fun, varied, and fresh concepts at hand, not putting them in mainline in at least an optional manner is beyond disappointing. I've wanted to see shadow pokemon in main series ever since B/W2 when your rival's sister's purrloin got stolen and turned malicious thanks to team plasma, that's straight up just a damn shadow pokemon😂. It would also make the affection/friendship system have more of a use since you could make them happy for like weaker attacks but added affects being more likely (flinching for example, and obviously this would be singleplayer only as im sure it'd break multiplayer), or make them hate you for stronger attacks but more disobedience and less likely effects. Makes it a lot cooler than just "floatzel won't fucking die cause he loves you" happening 3 turns in a row like in trash ass BDSP, and would give us a reason to keep pokemon angry other than just frustration, and gives both happy and angry pokemon different risks vs rewards.
If they really want to keep the 2 games mechanically seperate, fine, but at least release more games in that style. It's been how many years since xd and the only game to have the shadow mechanic since is damn pokemon go, that's just a travesty. I HOPE they'll continue doing the legends series since I enjoyed the gameplay mechanics, but who's to say they wont just desert it too. Idk bottomline, the pokemon company is just stupid😂

I wonder, what music is going to be in this game. When it comes to soundtracks sonic games are pretty good at it, even in the trailers but they just put generic pretty music but who knows because its just the trailer.
Wall running, cool back I guess, but... the world is boring, Rob says it's more interesting than Legends, but personally I think it's the opposite, maybe that's because I did somewhat like the game vs he hated it. Like it looks like BotW but worse, Sonic levels pop out, they're expressive, colorful, stand out and make the characters stand out... it's just boring. Also not everyone was asking for an open world Sonic OR FRANKLY Pokemon game. Just because it can make sense doesn't mean it should be done, if you don't know how to integrate your world into as such then you shouldn't which... is a point against Sonic, but in Pokemon's case gen 1 was the most open the franchise has been, the 1st games, just like Zelda 1... so it makes sense that it could be open more so than Sonic, but I still don't think they should've, a spin off, like Colosseum/Gale of Darkness sequel or remakes sure I could see those working better, mainline games should stick to their RPG roots, top down chibi style NOT LIKE BDSP, go back to ORAS.

I mean I had my doubts but yeah I think this confirms once again only Sonic is playable in this game which sucks because Knuckles has been in open world like environments before, Tails, Rouge, Cream, Silver, even Ray even if he's classic only all characters that'd thrive better in open worlds. No not every game you're 10 years old. Gen 1 11, gen 2-4 12 years old, 5 both games you're 15, XY you're 18, then gen 7 onwards they forced us to be 11 again except In Legends where they made us 15. Walley is the only character that's actually 10 in the franchise, N was 22, but I get what you mean, it's annoying and they're really hitting hard by putting us in school uniforms, how much they want to appeal to kids with this game rather than us older fans, I haven't been in school for... ignoring college almost a decade. Sure they're still drawing in new younger fans, but come on, especially since they're obviously making the professor's look that way, they know what they're doing, and the majority of us are older fans, why make us 11 again? Green streak girl probably a friendly rival, she's giving us a tutorial there great like we need more of that crap. Legendaries are fine, I like the Scarlet one, but compared to the Violet one which is so well done, it's just meh. I'm probably getting Scarlet, unless they do something egregious that just offends me, it seems ok so far, nothing amazing, seems meh bland. If time travel is involved they better fricken do it right, and they better go hard on the story and villain unlike SwSh, hopes are champion or one of the professors is the villain, might do like a Ruby Sapphire Scarlet Chad is villain, Violet Cave Mom is the villain.
They are not stupid on the sonic trailer what they are doing is just like what they did with pokemon arceus they know how popular the mario and zelda games were and decided if we take elements from those popular games then ours will sell great. Btw what we want is a sonic not super sonic breath of the frontier.
