It's good to see a celebration of Spam. As a child we only had it on camping trips. Space was limited in the ice chest and it got pulled out when we were out in the woods somewhere in the lower 48 or Ontario province.
I appreciate the effort that went into the SPAM boat ride graphic. 👏🏻 I'm so happy you had such a good time in Hawaii. You need to return and tour more!
Being from Minnesota, Spam is a thing here. lol! I live 17 miles away from where they make the Spam. There is even a Spam museum. I would eat anything made with Spam! ❤
Mom used to make spamwiches for us as kids and I still make them occasionally. Cubed spam, cubed velveeta, & cubed hard boiled egg stuffed in a hotdog bun, wrap in tin foil and bake until warm and cheese is melted. Yum!
We were there the same evening. Really neat and I love the military connection. Where I live they have "Goetta-Fest" which is setup the same way as a huge festival with music. Goetta is another mish-mash of ingredients and really only popular in the greater Cincinnati, Ohio area. But it's really good and used as an alternative to sausage.
We also have the Waikiki Hoolaulea in September, the Pan Pacific Festival in June at the same location each year. And we also have Lantern Floating off of Magic Island on Veterans Day.

I like Spam as a kid. We only ate it when we were camping/repelling and I know we had it a few different ways over the years. I haven't eaten it in a couple of decades but I remember thinking that as an adult, it was a bit too salty for me and not bad, but not great. I'm sure I'd have tried it in something at that festival, though. And some of that corn!
$13 for spicy street corn?!?! And it didn’t even come with spam. I know, I know. Some of the crazy spam concoctions looked good enough to try. I think the candied spam on the hula pie might actually work as a tasty flavor combo. And if not, the spam was only sprinkled on top, so one could just enjoy the plain hula pie.
