- How I Saved So Much Money on My Cruise
All Major cruise lines have some kind of frequent cruiser program. Royal Caribbean's is known as the "Crown & Anchor Club". On our recent Hawaiian cruise on the Brilliance of the Seas, I experienced the perks of being a Diamond Member for the first time, which ended up saving me around $500!?! Learn more about how it worked in this video.

On our 1st cruise to Ensenada my wife and I played a 5 dollar bingo card each even though I did not want to as I felt it was a waste of money. With four numbers in my wife jumps up and yelled bingo. Everyone in the room is booing and saying that can't be but my wife got a bingo with the free space and she won $500 so we had some good times with. The bingo card is still on our refrigerator to this day.
👏👏👏
That fabulous!!! What fun!
Awesome!
That's a cool place to keep it. LOL
If you contact Crownand Anchor and let them know you and Marcus are in a relationship, then Marcus will become diamond as well. That will get him 4 drinks per day, an additional bag of laundry, etc.
Really? Even if we're not married?
That’s the way I also understand it. You contact Royal Caribbean before the cruise and have him listed as your significant other and he will get the same drink package as you. And don’t mention in your videos about sharing your package with him anymore. That is a no-no with Royal Caribbean.
Yes..I was coming to say that also. As long as your at the same address, they will match Markus to your status. 🎉
I missed this comment… so I said the same. Call them and link!
@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuidesthey recognize domestic partners as well, as long as the same address. You will have the same status.
As Elite on Princess, (15 cruises), I get FREE, UNLIMITED laundry and dry cleaning, so I only bring carry-on, and do laundry every 2 or 3 days. For FREE. That can add up on a 30 day cruise.
The drink vouchers are the best benefit! And I don’t even drink alcohol 😎. But I use them on specialty coffee, virgin drinks or NA beer.
been watching for years, never commented.... but that picture cracked me up!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHA
Glad to put a smile on your face!
Hi Morgan! Itinerary suggestion for a ship sailing a transpacific reposition .... last Alaskan cruise; Vancouver to Hawaii; Hawaii to Sydney; stay in Sydney for as many nights required to board a next cruise for a New Zealand cruise. If you still have extra vacation days and money 😉 there are plenty more cruise itineraries to book departing from Sydney i.e. great barrier reef from both Royal and Celebrity.
Pls follow the advice from fellow viewers and get Marcus registered as your partner so you can double the perks and pick 2 goofy pics per cruise! Thx for your channel.
Liked the fun photo of you and Markus enjoying your cruise.
Love that you made Diamond! And enjoyed the perks! Yes Do get Marcus on as Diamond too Double the AM Latteès! Also your Diamond Drinks work on Private Islands! Im now D+ so I get 5 drinkies and a Free bag of laundry! And on my July Celebrity Cruise My status will now be Elite Plus! So much good about RCCL loyalty! Hope to see you aboard some ship !! ❤🎉
Great perks with Diamond status. One you forgot was 1 free day of internet. Getting ready to do my first Royal cruise but because I am Elite with Celebrity I'm going to be Diamond on my Royal cruise. Plan on using all the perks. Great video. Thanks
I am diamond plus and I will never need a drink package. It is a huge savings on every cruise.
I'm Diamond Plus and I think Royal Caribbean has the best loyalty program. Going on Celebrity for the 1st time this month and while the match isn't exact i.e. drinks for example, it is great news.
I won at Bingo once. I won $184 dollars. Not the big jackpot but I can't complain.
And I think you should cruise to Alaska. I have twice and loved it.
I'll take $184 over no $ any day :-P
Yes, Alaska is so pretty! You see waterfalls randomly just off the sides of the mountains while sailing the inside passage.
The drinks are a great perk to keep you cruising on RC! That's a great savings.
Good for you, Captain Morgan - I am glad you are begining to enjoy the perks of your loyalty🤗🤗🤗
PS: You are not getting me on a cruise to Alaska ... I live in Calgary where winter is long abd barely has left us. So no, thanks. Hawaii??? You bet and your videos .ake it even more palatable💖
I just binge watched all of your Hawaii videos last night and I am totally sold on a vacation there now! The long flight from the east coast has been putting me off but that's nothing compared to your long haul 😮
We love cruising in Alaska. Liked it so much that two years ago, I put together our own land tour. Rode the Alaska Railroad, which is a great way to see such beautiful scenery. It's one of the best vacations ever! Now...need to read the comments about Australia. Definitely on my bucket list.
Definitely do Alaska! Be sure to pick a cruise that goes into Glacier Bay because not all cruise line do. And only two ship per day are allowed. It is magical!
Welcome to Diamond! I enjoy the benefits!
Four free drinks per days is a great benefit. I need to look at cruising with RCCL…
I kinda love the goofy photo! 🤭 Those posed pics often look like the awkward prom photos from back in the day.
Yes Alaska! Scenery, scenery, scenery - especially the train out of Skagway, and Glacier Bay... be sure your cruise goes to Glacier Bay. I can't wait to see you do a sled dog excursion :) The excursions are expensive, but you might never have the opportunity to do some of those cool things again, so DO IT!
Alaska definitely worth going!! Sailed out of Vancouver round trip inside passage this time last year. Beautiful!🇨🇦❤️
😅Love the photo. Heard a few more talk about the perks of being Diamond or higher .
Have a Good week 🥰
I’m Diamond on Royal but haven’t cruised at that level with them yet. I did a lot of double point cruises after Covid so I got there quickly. My main aim was to be Elite on Celebrity and I really enjoyed that 🥰 You get a free bag of laundry ⚓️
Great picture! Thankyou for the tips !
We no longer buy a drink package or specialty dining. As D+ we each get 1 BOGO special dining onboard in addition to 5 drink vouchers a day each. That really adds up!
As a frequent royal Caribbean cruiser, this was a good video. As you know if you pick a junior suite, you get double points. And junior suite are not that much more expensive than balcony rooms. Did you happen to go into the crown and anchor special area for diamond members? If I recall, they have appetizers and drinks there for happy hour. as to the laundry, I believe if you wait until your cruise is 3/4 over the discount for laundry is cut in half. I don’t think they advertise that but I may be wrong.
😂❤ really enjoyed the video.
Marcus should receive your benefits also. Call C&A and have your member number’s connected. Also did you have a balcony? Because you receive a discount on balconies depending when you book and how long your cruise is. Love the benefit’s from Royal!
Hi Morgan 👋 I would love you to come to Australia, and the best way is a Trans Pacific cruise to Australia via Hawaii, Tahiti, American Samoa, and New Zealand, arriving in Sydney. I did this in September 2019 and enjoyed every minute of it. I sailed from Vancouver BC with Princess on the Ruby Princess. The return sailing from Australia is typically in April. The cruise ranges from 25 to 35 days depending on the itinerary and cruise line.
Good Afternoon Morgan
We did one Alaska cruise (and it was beautiful) but it felt like a tease! I want to plan a land vacation so we can see more of the sights.
We just got back from an Alaskan cruise out of Seattle and I loved every moment of it. Very different from our typical Caribbean cruises but the whales, the seals, the mountain goats and the multiple bald eagles made up for not having the warmth. It was so much fun! Expensive but fun so that’s why it was my once in lifetime trip.
Go to Alaska!!!! Staggeringly beautiful!
yes yes come to australia, its beautiful here :) we will find a way to do a meet up if you did :) as long as we had some notice to organise flights to whatever city you will be in :)
...oh you tease..... I bet I could guess.... ;) I think most of us think we look goofy in our pictures.... of course the best pics of people are when they do not know they are having their picture taken.
We are Diamond and it’s pretty awesome
we made diamond 2 cruises back, and never realized just how much we save. thank you. Go to Alaska, you will not regret the trip. Thank You. Be Happy, Cruise Safe.
Alaska is amazing!
Ha! It's still Saturday for me. Thanks for sharing ❤
I would love to see your adventures to Alaska , as it’s a place we have always wanted to visit . Think of it this way Morgan you would be visiting just for all of us !!! 😜 Great reason to justify it . 😂
Love Hawaii and Alaska. Haven't been to Hawaii in 20 plus years. You've made me want to go again. Will be Diamond Plus after my next RCL cruise in September. Drink vouchers are my favorite perk. Prime in casino is also fantastic. Free drinks while gambling and free cruises. Have to pay port fees and taxes. Still a good deal if you gamble anyway.
I won a free cruise on Bingo once. It was on Princess cruises.
wow thats a fantastic saving :)
Looking forward to your review of Brilliance. We will be on her in September for our 1st Alaska cruise.
I think the free drinks are the best benefit of reaching Diamond status!
One Diamond perk that you didn't mention ( and that can be a money saver as well ) is the Crown Lounge ( formerly Diamond Lounge )
In there you will find, along with some tasty snacks, is the coffee machine. This machine makes some specialty coffee drinks so you don't have to use your free drinks for coffee at another venue.
We will be diamond status on our cruise in September. Looking forward to the perks. 😊
On my first cruise I won $300 playing bingo. Back then (early 2000's) it was enough to pay our gratuities (this was pre-prepaid gratuities) for the week! Hawaii via cruise is on my bucket list. I want to do it the way you did, where you fly to Hawaii and spend a few days prior to the cruise seeing the Honolulu sights and then catching the ship. I retire in early 2025 so maybe we will book something for the spring.
Been to Alaska twice....it was THAT good...and the first time I had terrible seasickness.....and I would do it a third time if I won the lottery..lol....as for Australia....come on down...we are a fantastic bunch...😂
Cruise to Australia and then do some cruises in my neck of the woods. 💕💕💕
I am off on Allure tomorrow for a birthday cruise! 😊
Our favorite bartender Dana works on Brilliance!
I've gone on an Alaskan Cruise. I enjoyed it more than I thought I would, as I lean more toward warmer climates(Cruises). Anyway the whale watching tour was awesome, as was the scenery and the glaciers. Got a little sea sick however on the way back to Canada, as we did not return though the inside passage. Hey Morgan, you could watch one of the many TH-cam video's on Alaskan Cruises to get an idea of what they are like, and if you want to go on one.
I just made Dimond Plus saved 500 dollars just on the drinks on a Cross Atlantic Cruise
You should have booked a suite! You get free laundry in some of them! Surely thats worth the cost difference..😆 but yah the drink credits are the best reward and the main one we use, and oh yah.. i'd get 4 drinks a day easily. Mimosa's count! Start early.
I know that having them do your laundry was one of your perks but I’m sure they also have laundromats where you can do your own laundry for much cheaper.
I would love to go on an Alaskan cruise!
Not on Royal Caribbean!
@@truigrunland6817 Well that is stupid.
I will be diamond on my next cruise.. I'm so excited! I cannot find your video on how to make your clothes fit in the small bag the cruise line gives you. Can you help? Thanks so much! I truly enjoy your videos!!!! Michelle :)

@@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides You are awesome! Thanks so much!!!
I didn't think it would be that much. Granted, you do have to take a lot of cruises to reach that, but if you're cruising anyway, you're already spending that money for your own entertainment. It's not like you have to spend extra to earn points toward your status. Sounds great to me!
Thanks for another great video. Oh, and thank you for wearing pants! 😄
Hi Morgan - diamond perks are handy! Not wishing to teach granny to suck eggs but I am assuming that you are aware that, as your partner, Markus is also entitled to Diamond status so you could get 2 goofy photos! 🤣
Not while on a cruise, but I did win a bingo jackpot a few years back, all by myself. The split-pot jackpot: $1968.00!! I'm thinking I peaked too soon...😢
Guten Morgen, Morgan from Bad Homburg, thanks for all your videos 💕 do Royal Status Match? Lovely photo of you both and not stupid at all, 😍
The three cruisers I have been on I won every time ❤
I need so sit next to you, obviously!
yes yes defo go ALASKA
You forgot the 2 bottles of water delivered to your room on embarkation saved another few dollars.
Cruise to any new destination you desire. I've only cruised 4 times but never repeated an itinerary.
You've never cruised to Alaska? Run and book it NOW!
Elite on Celebrity, so Diamond on Royal...yippee do dah.
If you go to Alaska: Go snorkling! One of the best things we did
Australia & NZ. Start Sydney finish Auckland. Amazing cities both.
Hey Morgan 👋🏽
Why is Markus not also a Diamond? As his partner, if you live at same address, call Crown and Anchor and link your accounts. He will be made diamond as well. Then you both get free drinks, picture etc.
Hate those posed pictures. We did the best one with my friends husband laying down, and then each of us 3 girls laying on top, so a stack of 4. Just about crushed him LOL but a great photo. Took another last year from a friends mom that we are all close to, I told the photographer no posed picture, he took some posed, guess he just couldn't help himself, then the 4 of us did the pose I wanted, and I directed him on how to do a close up, and we had a great photo at the end of the 4 of us just close and hugging.
Once you hit Diamond, there isn't a better loyalty program on any other cruise line. Even Celebrity can't touch the benefits.
I didn't know saving the card from each cruise was a thing; I don't understand why I would want them. As for the photo those are the best pictures to look at decades later. We would make up the most outlandish story to go with it.
4 drinks a day is great.
Yes, we certainly used it to our advantage!
Were D+ and cant even drink the 5 each free drinks a day ( that's soft drinks as we don't drink wine etc lol )
You do know that if you share a household you both get Diamond benefits? You just have to get yourselves linked.
If you had purchased your drinks they add 18%. So that’s another $87🎉
The first time I played in the casino on my Diamond plus card (worth 6$) I won!!!
Well.... 60 Cents... But a win 🙂
Does that count?
Greetings from the Southwest of Germany🙋
Well... Laundry - always a great pleasure 🙂
Rolling the items tight and then stuffing it in the bag saves an awful lot of space and the amount of items you can place is just phenomenal!
Talking about Alaska and Australia... We have done both and I can only say "highly recommend both destinations"
Australia we did twice "over the top" in 2014 and 2017, each 18 nights. Absolutely great!
In the latter year our son was doing a scholarship at the RMIT (Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, so we combined that trip with a visit.
Alaska was in 2015 (I think) starting in Seattle, ending in Vancouver - very very nice.
Would love to do both destinations, but to be honest - RCL prices at the moment are insane - even on older ships.
We are having 5 cruises für 24/25 in the pipeline, only one with Celebrity, the others with other lines. 🤷
That's 60 cents for freeeeee!
Our first cruise when we reached diamond status we went in to the casino (we normally do not) to spend the $6 perk, and I won over $200! That 5 minutes paid for our tips for the whole cruise!
@@johnmccorkle1694 Wow! Congrats 👏👏👏
I will save hundreds by simply not going on a cruise! Yea!!!
Where’s the rest of the Hawaii cruise experience Yikes
I post a new travel vlog every week during the week. It's usually on Wednesday. Glad to see you are looking forward to them!
My mom won over $3000 playing bingo.
Wow! That's fantastic!
