So, I changed my ball joints this past weekend on my 06 G35x AWD and everything went well. The BJL148 fit fine and I just reused cone seat that was on there already. Thankfully driving is much better with these installed. Thanks again for your video.
So you took the entire knuckle off just to take them in and have someone else actually press the ball joint in? Did you have a bogus ball joint press or missing the correct cups/sleeves?
The ball joint press did not fit and I needed to take the car out of town the same weekend, so I took the control arm in to a shop to have them press the ball joints
I got a g37x I been hearing squeaking noise from front suspension an the other day there was extra weight an the squeaking got louder an front end dropped a little bit probably lower ball joint or dry bushing wheel doesn't wobble or clunk
this question needs to be answered. I was actually working on mine and while I was trying t remove the nut (it was stuck on the bal joint) it just fell through the hole with the nut still on...
It was a rental ball joint press and it didn’t fit on the control arm where it bends. The ball joints seemed to be good until I sold the car not long ago

Hi Dan, what is the purpose of the lower ball joints? I saw you replaced the ball joint itself but the shop told me that they will replace the entire control arm as well. Are they right?
It allows the the knuckle wheel and steering to be able to flex at the joint. If they do not have the proper tools, it would be easier for them to buy a knuckle/control arm with the ball joint already pressed in. It sounds like it’s just their preference, but as seen in the video it can be replaced without a new control arm
my problem is, my castle nut spins right down past the cotter pin hole, also no matter what i do the shaft on the ball joint spins when i tighten on it. i’ve tried just about everything i can think of

Mevotech ms30505 ball joint was used in this scenario but this is for a sedan and i’m not sure if it’s the same on the coupe so I did not post a part number in the description

excellent video, one of the best tutorials ive seen. i have an 03 skyline gt350 (i just moved back to the US after nearly 20 years in Japan. So, i cant bring myself to calling it an infiniti). Been hearing some squeaking periodically when i go over bumps. thought it was the sway bar bushings, so i put new ones in yesterday. but the squeak is still there. could the squeak be coming from the ball joints. now, full disclosure: i did not grease the swaybar bushings before installing them. would that cause squeaking? The old bushings looked fine. Could it be that they just needed lubrication? and finally, are those moog ball joints you bought? i like that they are serviceable. thanks in advance for your help.

blackpassenger Eventially you will want to add the grease, so if you’re going to do something else like ball joints or tear it apart sometime soon, I’d say do it then

on these nissans I would replace all control arms you can afford and get an alignment. The bushings fail pretty easy. I replaced the lower control arms as well on this car
Plus loud and annoying grinding noise that sounds like a super shot wheel bearing. I replaced my wheel bearing that was great just to find out the ball joint was the actual issue. Hurts
+Vq_Skunk1320 with the right tools this could be done in a few hours. I had to take this in to get the joint pressed, and that pushed me into another day

The cap wouldn’t fit over mine either. The grease was full at the time of install, so I didn’t need to add more

The shop charged me $80, which may be a little on the high side. 4 wheel drive shop wouldn’t touch them (no reason not to)

Anthony Beacham Ultimately it might, but you won’t be able to tighten the nut down without it. It will still be loose and just spin.

hit the side of the tie rod not the top so you don’t destroy the threads.
