How do you remove a lower broken ball joint? Part is stuck in the lower control arm, and top part is stuck in the pinch bolt.

@lakeridgebordercollies5007 I think you have to take off the control arm and knuckle to properly hammer them out.

Step 8 you don't need anything fancy you can use a C-clamp with a can to catch it

    Snap ring tool?

A mechanic told me that replacing the ball joint only will result in it coming loose within a month and said that replacing the control arm with the ball joint already presed in is the only way to go.
Is this true? Or just another scam...?

@marcbrazeau6081 A bit of an exaggeration for it to come loose after a month. If the ball joint pressed in tightly, then it should last a long time. There is a risk of the ball joint hole wearing out due to rust and age, but its a rare case. Replacing the control arm is not the only way to go, although its the safest option for long term.

      Thank you for your reply!
Thanks to your video, yesterday morning, I was able to replace the ball joints on my 2019 Nissan Sentra with ease. The only extra step I had to take was a zip gun to the ball joint to be able to get it out. The ball joint hole was in excellent condition and the installation went well.
Later on during the day I asked a mechanic how much they charge for ball joint replacement to see how much $ I had saved... I also thought he was exaggerating.
Thanks again for the peace of mind and your well detailed video!

Is the gap between the control arm surface and the ball joints snap ring normal? I'm doing this on my friends '13 and I noticed the same gap after we pressed the new ball joint into the control arm, I've done ball joints on several other cars and the snap ring usually sits more flush to the surface

You're right the snap ring usually sits flush to the surface. Since it's an aftermarket part, the fitments and size will always be different than the original one, so the gap is normal in this case.
