thanks so much for your video showing and explaining how to reset a mercedez benz TCM. I do have a mercedes benz 1999 ML430 and have transmission problems, it was on limp mode for at least almost 3 months. I don't want to go to the dealer, I know they will really charge me a lot. I do have a regular scanner that I use. I already replaced the conductor plate, the sonax fixes as well. Replace the 6 transmission solenoids too, then reset, still in limp mode. I have decided to buy the scanner you were showing on your video which I was able to buy it at ebay, for $150.00. I did the reset of the TCM, erase the fault codes, there were 7 codes. Then it just works perfectly. Once again thanks so much for posting this video, it really help a lot. Enjoying my ML430 once again.

This is the first video that actually addresses the issue! Well done. Excellent video! So many people don't directly address this issue. Thank you very much!
David thank you very much for this video! You are spot-on about the difference between a regular OBD-II diag tool and one that can access the car's individual controllers. Now, here are some details that may be of interest to others: My 2007 E350 has had intermittent transmission issues for many years. Every few months it goes into limp mode. A quick power-off and restart always got it going, and most of the time the car would run for well over 6 months with no issues. I figured there was some pesky problem with my conductor plate, so I took it to the dealer and asked them to install a new plate, but they refused to do it! Since my car had 160k miles on it, they did not want to be liable for the standard MB warranty on the transmission work. I tried, but I couldn't talk them into doing it. So, I just kept driving the car, and now it has 205k miles. Unfortunately, on a recent 3-hour trip I had the limp mode issue happen three times. The third time, my check engine light came on, but I was able to turn the car off/on and drive the rest of the way home without issue. The next day, the car went into limp mode as soon as I started the car, but even after many off/on attempts while driving near my house, I had no luck in getting it out of limp mode. I even tried clearing the codes with my regular OBD-II tool - no luck. So, I thought my conductor plate had finally bitten the dust. While researching the steps necessary to do the job myself at home, I came across David's TH-cam video here. It made sense, so I bought an iCarsoft V2.0 CR unit. (It's only $40 more than the iCarsoft MB-II unit, but the CR can download "personalities" for up to 10 different car makes. So, it took a few minutes to install the MB firmware from the iCarsoft website, but for me it was worth it to be able to use the iCarsoft with my other cars.) With the iCarsoft, I was able to go into the TCM and reset the "turbine speed sensor" codes there, and then go back to the OBD-II menu and reset the codes there, as well. That did the trick! It got my car out of limp mode (just like David said it would), and it's driving normally now! So, what should I do next? Continue with my plans to refurbish the conductor plate, or just keep the iCarsoft tool in the car and drive it around for a few more months to see what happens? Maybe I'll wait a few weeks for the weather to warm up and decide then. 🙂
If your car ever has an SRS light on and its related to that Ring system that carsoft wont remove that SRS light, you can go to every shop in America trying to avoid the dealer like me and its a no go, only the dealer has the Software to remove the srs and fix or reset the Ring System.

Hey David I transported my 2005 E320 loaded onto car transport everything worked fine. Got to my destination and tried to unload it and it started but would not go into reverse or drive what are your thoughts on this?
Somewhat confused....did you clear the code, because the video did not show that? However, I did read that you fixed a bad connector as well as a leak. Also, if the scanner shows a code that signifies "limp mode", and Mercedes doesnt want you working on the vehicle, do you just clear that "limp mode" code???? Thanks
Hi, did you look at my other video? The one linked at the end that shows you how to 'remotely' test the solenoids and continuity from the TCM Connector? Make sure all that is good BEFORE resetting w the scan tool.

Hey David. I have a 2009 E350 w/173kmi. It won’t shift gears & is stuck in 1st gear I believe. The MB mechanic was unable to read the transmission codes, only the engine codes were accessible. He tried to reset the transmission but to no avail. If I replace the TCM with a used one from eBay, will that resolve the problem or do I need to swap the entire transmission?
@@markmccord3287 I was able to fix this. The mechanic removed the TCM & discovered a very dirty area between the TCM & valve body. After a thorough cleaning, the transmission began to shift gears. I guess the sensors were not working due to the build up of grease & dirt under the transmission. Note that you don’t have to remove the entire transmission; only the TCM & valve body. Then do a thorough cleaning underneath the car

What is the exact name of the specific scanner I’m looking for?
The car is all fixed now- turns out one of the transmission sensors needed replacing.
Thank you for that video time for me to buy a real scan tool. Just like the one you have. Thank you again !!!
Thanks for this video! It save me a lot of time and money on my sprinter. I selected automatic transmission and cleared the code and I was on my way😉👌
Hi David, I'm looking at purchasing this scanner bcs ur video is exactly what my car is doing, however, I don't see the w210 listed ...any thoughts?
I hv a 2000 E430 4matic.
Thank you for your time, Brandi
Find the closest model and use that
Did it work? I have an e320
You think will work for w210 01 e320 I have icarsoft 2.0 but doesn’t clear
If the code won’t clear, and you are using the right scanner, then you haven’t fixed the problem
"when someone tells me I can't work on my own car" This is a man like me.
So how do I clear the codes you didn’t say
So I have the P2107 code about solenoids failing after replacing the conductor plate. Won’t go away after resetting on iCarsoft MB II. Anything I can do, or is my solenoid actually a dud?
In my MB 2001 no work, my transmision is sequentronic 6 V.
Hey David I transported my 2005 E320 loaded onto car transport everything worked fine. Got to my destination and tried to unload it and it started but would not go into reverse or drive what are your thoughts on this?
Not leaking fluid? Did you check the fluid level?
Thanks had me in loop 🫣🙏🏽
Somewhat confused....did you clear the code, because the video did not show that? However, I did read that you fixed a bad connector as well as a leak. Also, if the scanner shows a code that signifies "limp mode", and Mercedes doesnt want you working on the vehicle, do you just clear that "limp mode" code???? Thanks
Fix problem first, then clear code ELECTRONICALLY using the scanner
@@Vortxrex ok, thanks...and thanks for the video!
I`m at my wits end, conductor plate, TCM, ABS module and factory scan tool all have failed
Hi, did you look at my other video? The one linked at the end that shows you how to 'remotely' test the solenoids and continuity from the TCM Connector? Make sure all that is good BEFORE resetting w the scan tool.
I’ve been having this problem with my transmission! When its cold and i turn it on! And switch to D or R my transmission kicks and boom im on limp mode! 3 mechanics told me i have to change valve body (1000$ plus) which i dont have but one mechanic was nice enough to tell me i will reset your transmission code with his high end omb reader and bam! Out of limp mode and my benz is shifting again and no!!!! Kicking. I drove it all day today so hopefully tomorrow is still good but if it aint i will purchase this!!!!
There are some good, honest mechanic/ Tech's out there. There's hope.
Hello, I need urgent help, I have a 2010 E550 - 4matic - Mercedes Benz. I had a friend who is a mechanic, he replaced both my front CV axles. After he was done, he put everthing back together and then I drove the car around the circle, then the car stopped moving, it showed the car is in D & P (Drive and park) at the same time. You can hear gears moving but no power to the wheels. I am so depressed, bummed out, thinking about burning the car. Can someone help please.
Thank you i just replaced my conductor plate and still on limp mode appreciate the knowledge
Did you figure out how to get out of limp mode? My e350 code is suggesting to clean the MAF sensor.
Did you reset it? With that same scanner?? If not that’s your problem
Thanks for video. Does any hardware or electronic part correct if the codes are erased? I mean my mechanic used generic tool and told me the gear selector module needs to be changed .. but he first removed the codes and car was running fine on test drive but after an hour when I started it again stuck at 1 or 2nd gear and won't engage R Until turn off ignition..
The code was P240C And some other codes too on that generic diagnostic tool
Plz guide me if I need to change that part or can be reset ?
Watch the video again until you understand it
Can you send me the link or the name of the scanner you used.
That should be covered in the video
Can you please tell me if this machine will work on a 2003 clk 500??
Yes

You need the inteligent control m. ICM GOES NEXT THE TRANSMISSION
So I bought this scanner ..I'm going to look at a ml 500 and that's stuck in limp mode with a turbine speed sensor code ..this should be able to clear the code right ?
Not if there is actually something wrong w the speed sensor
Does it work for a manual transmission. I have a c240 with a 6-speed manual. And it's stuck in limp mode. I've tried similar icarsoft scanners with no success.
You still need to correct whatever is wrong before doing the reset ;)
The problem was the clutch. It has a brand new clutch in it now. Now I need to mode off. And it won't let me.
So did you have to/how did you clear the code?
Rewatch the video please !!
Hey David, I have the same tool but I have a 1998 C 230. That year and model don't show up on the tool. What can I do?

My Mercedes has the same problem, it is an E280 2008, I cannot go above 40 or 50 kph, I made a scan and the code p2725 appeared which means fault in solenoid fluid, we performed several tests on the selenoids to verify that they were working and They all had current except for the conductive plate, I put a multimeter or it did not mark me current, what do you recommend me to do? Thank you
Use the scanner I recommended and reset the tcm
@@Vortxrex Thanks for answering, are there chances that using the scanner you recommend can correct the error? Thank you
So how do you clear that limp mode or fix the problem?
You fix the problem first, then you electronically clear the code using the scanner (as shown). I went over this about 25 times in the video
Oh i thought just clearing the code fixes the problem.
U never said what u fixed in this video!!!!
Is there a reason why you dragged this out
Probably the worst video on TH-cam. I actually feel dumber after watching it.

Watch the video again, I covered this topic in great detail
Hello, What is the difference between manually resetting and electronicaly resetting the transmission? Manually as in switching the key to 2nd position, accelerator all the way down, waiting 20 secs, then not moving for mins, ect. ?
NOT the same, watch the video

So is there another scanner that is able to work with my car
Like the icarsoft v3
Get as close as you can on the year/model and try that setting
I did this with the same reader, didn't actually remove the dtc, it still kept coming back, pressure control selenoid
BECAUSE: Your pressure control solenoid , wiring, or solenoid plate are bad
When you cleared the code how long before the code returned?
Will the Solis ultra snap-on scanner work
I think so that what my brother has you can't change boards with out mb computer they need to flash but I sent a board circuit board medics 350 repiar you'll pay dealer most of that plus buy a new board and hauling to dealer with out driving after install its worth fixing boards mine got 22k before a new issue appeared 3yrs later and soon as paid off lol

It’s not in limp mode if it’s shifting gears
Same here
@@markmccord3287
I was able to fix this.
OK. I own a w202 C230. Can I reset the fault codes by shorting out the pins. I don't have the money to purchase these scanners. Hard reset maybe?
NO
Same as BMW. I took out my valve body 3xs thought I did it wrong. I jut need a scanner 😔😔😔
