The the story of Jose Gaspar ….he Invades the the city of Tampa, and the mayor meets with Jose Gaspar, (Ye Mystic Krewe of Gasparilla). she turns over the keys to the city to him and his pirates. This has been a Tampa tradition since 1904. It’s a complete day of pirates and beads. About 160 floats. sort of like Mardi Gras. It’s a great fun party day ! Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it ! 😊
There’s many parades for Gasparilla the first one is the children’s parade where children of the members of each one of the floats get to common walk Bayshore, which is about 4 miles, or they can be on the float. The next week is the day parade, which is the party day, in two weeks later, we have what is called the night parade which goes through Ybor city, and then there’s Saint Patty‘s parade. And then at the end of the year, there’s the festival in Key West called fantasy fest.
@@SheilaKestran Call me a prude, but I wish the citizens of Key West would look beyond money and shut Fantasy Fest down. Let cities in California host debauchery events like that. My rule of thumb has always been that if something takes place in public, on public property and is not suitable for the public under local law, it doesn't need to take place. Laws shouldn't take a few days off in the name of money, and that is exactly what takes place in Key West every year.
im moments like this world wide with tge expectation of civil wars and mental health crisis this is abusive, without a speaker explaining whats going on manny might get confused and stress on my point of view really irresponsable and wrecless
@@DavidMartinez-nh4nh I think you're reading way too much into this event, Dave. No one is idolizing pirates here. It's a silly, but fun take on the Bay area's past. A fun, over the top history lesson if you will.

It's a festival or children's activity or holiday, not sure exactly. Their website is horrible.
