To me, videos like these are what really keeps Mario Kart Wii alive, the culmination of how far the community has come with such a timeless game. For most if not all players, it's things like this that either got us to fall in love with or keep us in love with this game. Massive thank you to the TAS community for being the backbone of our community, pushing the game to its limits and keeping the flow of new ideas, strategies and shortcuts incoming, without you we could have seen a dramatic drop in activity years ago. Much love to everyone involved in this video being created, both directly and indirectly ♥♥♥
Out of all the TAS shortcut compilations I've seen, this might be the first one where some of the shortcuts actually blew me away. I want to see what can be done with that mushroom gorge glitch method. Absolutely awesome
That strat is definitely one of the coolest for sure, Vabold came up with the idea of hopping backwards on the mushroom years ago, Malleo proved it was possible, and Jellopuff proved it was faster years later. Saves around a second I think
that mushroom gorge one was so surprising to see the peach gardens one was also unexpected but didn't blow me away I didn't expect to see the bowser's castle shortcut done with a trick, nor did I expect to see the turn cut done with one mushroom
2:08-2:19 just made me so shocked and excited that was so insanely hype how you mushroom no stop to get to the other side then insane low trick into clipping the blocks and bouncing off all of them and hitting the boost panel getting another low trick that was so sick
This was such a nice good video! It makes me so happy seein mkwii tas stuff in 2023, and reminds me of when i was much more invested in it years ago. Glad to see things are still cookin!
Remember when all TAS records were just Funky and Daisy? In this compilation there was also Waluigi, Dry Bowser, Baby Daisy, Baby Mario, Baby Luigi, Toadette and Yoshi!
I played this game as a kid and I still do sometimes today. It’s crazy to see how far the boundaries have been pushed. It was unthinkable this would be possible back in the day. Amazing work 👏🏻🙏🏼
i love all the small intricacies of this video and the small music sync ups. really shows how much effort you put into this awesome video and well dont on making all those clips yourself!
A bit late, but very epic nostalgia! Nicely done and the editing is great too. It also takes me back to that time where I was not that great at inventing my own original strats, but I was able to think strategically about how one might drive a lap or run in the least mistakes possible given better positioned obstacles. Lots of understanding of the games mechanics helped me get to this point and the easier ways of doing things without much pressure involved - even despite starting, for instance, a flap at about 2.5 mins for better cycles in regards to low risk and high return (not much with bigger time save even if it’s minimal but more with better patterns and having the patience to do these things).
Monster recently uploaded a highly optimized, full run on Daisy Circuit using the shortcut. The shortcut has existed for a while now, but Monster found the method that’s shown in the video a few months ago. I recommend checking it out: m.th-cam.com/video/-NZ1OfaR2pk/w-d-xo.html
I really love those outside drifting bike superhopping, supersliding, glitch, and shortcut strats. And I really love the inside drifting bike strats a lot and really enjoy watching it.
No video explanation exists at the moment but I’ll explain it in words. Most people in this game’s community refer to the thing I did on Daisy Circuit for example as a superslide. To perform it, the bike needs to be in a specific state where both of its wheels are clipped through the floor. From there, the player can gain a bunch of momentum by tapping the control stick left or right repeatedly. All bikes can perform this, but it’s usually performed on the Wario Bike because its hitbox makes it so that its wheels clip much further through the floor. This is desirable because it’s a lot easier to pop out of the state if the wheels aren’t clipped through the floor as much
@@stev_.it’s not TAS only and can actually be done quite fast and consistently RTA. The problem is that finding a consistent set up for the state on most tracks is the most challenging part. Most of the time, it requires an edge of a road that has no collision underneath it to get in the state, which are very rare on most tracks when playing the game normally. You usually have to glitch out of the track to begin with in order to find a location for the state. The only tracks I can think of where you can easily find this kind of road collision in a normal playthrough is on Wario’s Gold Mine and Rainbow Road, and unfortunately, supersliding isn’t as overpowered on those tracks compared to most others

Thanks man, there will be more to come
I love how the editing makes this look exactly like the average TAS compilation video from 2013
Main thing that’s missing is the 3d spinning text intro with my username
The sonic frontier OST fits perfectly. That game as a whole feels like it should've come out in 2013.
hello everynyan

The sheer amount of creativity on display with these runs is incredible. Can’t believe how far this game has come.
As someone who hasnt checked in on the tas scene for around 2 years, the improvement is mind blowing
that ghost valley one was so perfect lol
Love it! Well done on making every clip look so clean, good job
Very well done! We haven't seen something this crazy in quite a while.
"Tas" means bag in the Netherlands. This compilation surely was bagged with lots of strats.
inspiring.
So a lot of bagging was used in this video.
that mushroom gorge one was so surprising to see
the peach gardens one was also unexpected but didn't blow me away
I didn't expect to see the bowser's castle shortcut done with a trick, nor did I expect to see the turn cut done with one mushroom
I used to watch a ton of MKWii videos like 5 years ago and seeing all these new strategies and discoveries is absolutely mind-boggling!!
I don't know why, but seeing Baby Daisy just comically slide around at high speeds is a bit funny to me
You know a compilation is gonna be crazy when it starts on the Wario Bike. Great work, super cool to see how far this game has come over the years.
BEAN?
OMG IT'S BEAN A WR HOLDER FOR 1 DAY OF COCONUT MALL

You gotta love that the sc for DKJP is just a slightly altered version for the sc used in the og MK64.
This is up there with Troy's levels shortcuts video as the best shortcut collections for MkWii
Insane. Didnt realize how great the frontiers cyberspace OST was for montages too, love it

your did it. really cool u recorded all these urself tho
The most annyoing thing abiut this video is how you dont see the complete run for the really short ones. Some of these look absolutely insane GG!
Although all of these are very precise, unless they contain impossible combos like rapid fire hop abuse, many of these are possible to do in rta runs
Even with the worst bikes in this game they still managed to prove the ultra shortcuts in this game
